Also, is WB willing to actively pursue black filmmakers, like Disney/Marvel?
Probably. They had Rick Famuyiwa signed on to direct The Flash before that movie fell apart.
lol. i don't see that happening any time soon. the book is selling relatively well and with the movie coming out I'm sure that will bolster sells too.
i guess I hope you are right because I never knew klaw to be a god.
He's cleary not a god. But it's not unheard of for Wakandans to view powerful beings as gods. Storm and Monica Rambeau were both referred to as goddesses.
There are two bad outcomes knowing how Coates writes.
Bad for BP fans- This event makes Tchalla question his beliefs and not see Bast as a god.
Bad for Storm fans- Reinforces Bast is a god and mortals are just pretenders.
The first one leans more toward Coates though.
either scenario wouldn't be good but I think the first would be worse since bast, I thought, was the basis of BP power and favor within Wakanda. i mean though I really want it go be clear she is an actual goddess but it wouldn't change the status quo if it is found she was "pretending"

yea but in the case of storm Coates demonstrated by tapping into the divine she could actually manipulate or disperse a sentient storm, which she has never been able to do in canon up to that point. even if wakandans thought storm to be a goddess, it would not grant her any abilities that wasn't already there.

That seemed like a lifetime ago.
lolol yes you can. people really don't like Coates huh. question though is there anyone here who likes what he is doing with the bp book?
Nope. And that’s going to continue unless one of two things happen.
1. Coates gets with the program and stops crapping over Black Panther and his mythos.
2. A more competent writer is brought on board.

Truthfully part of me is surprised he still views Bast as a god.
When you're teammates with people like Thor, I can't help but think you would start seeing gods less as actual gods and more just like powerful metas who don't age. As an Avenger he's dealt with being more powerful than pantheon gods semi-regularly. Can't help but wonder if that effects his view of Bast a little.

No. And I bought the first 12 issues.
He bought in too much crap that panders to those who view Africa as a third world country & that enforce black men oppressing women trope.
This book should have been the middle finger to whatever negative images of blacks one has. This book should have shown what happens when you leave blacks alone to fend for themselves.
That is why you got folks losing their minds over that movie. Because it's something we keep getting told can never happen a black utopia, black wall street, black NASA and so on.
I should see Midnight Angels RESPECT their king not degrade him.
I should not see Storm lecture to Panther. Panther should lecture to her about the need for a school of mutants in Wakanda for all those black children who are mutants. Yet still get WORST treatment than Reptile or Nightcrawler because they are black FIRST. Mutant second as SYnch showed up.
We are not getting that with Coates we are getting Hotel Rwanda.

After the experience Gentle got, I'm not sure Wakanda is necessarily the place for non Wakandan black heroes.
But from Infinity we do know Wakanda has a school for Wakandan meta humans. Maybe T'Challa can get Storm help with that, given her experience training meta humams.

The experience Gentle got is pure on some Coates bs as none of it jives with Wakanda depicted by competent writers but of course we’re talking about a character from the X-Verse so making Wakandans look dirty was #1-10 on their agenda so miss me with that “well can you blame Gentle?” Mess
Not like there wasn’t a Wakandan school for super powered kids made........oh wait there is

I'm not. There is a book series where all gods that have ever existed are real and the main character has met most of the big names. And he is only a mortal with powers, but that doesn't stop his belief in his pantheon.

Coates up in here saving people money.

Was it a learning school or was it just to train how to use their powers? Cause to be truly progressive, people with powers should go to the same educational schools as everyone else without feeling outed.
Part of the Gentle story and the Ending of Worlds Apart were the two thing I didnt like. Yost knew that if he wrote the story as Gentle being welcomed like a lost son he would never had wanted to leave and could not set up the ending. lol
They gave Coates top billing for #2. Means I gotta give it a side eye. I know its before New Avengers, but I don't trust Namor/BP dynamic with Coates writing
And Even tried so hard to put distance between them. lol
I think Coates is more of a consultant and Evans is the actual writer. In which I trust him more since this is mainly his series and his ideas. Sound and fury sounds good. I can't wait to be able to read 2-3 issues of Bp that's exciting despite one of them being completely dung

That is what I though too. Evans name is first on #1. But Coates is first on #2.
That might just be a mistake on the people who write the solicits.
Either that or early pre-orders for #1 are not what they hoped for and are trying to use his name to boost them.
