Bro, it's not just in mainstream comicbooks.
Heterosexual romantic relationships are virtually absent from most sci-fi/fantasy based entertainment.
The forthcoming BP movie may be the first time we get such relationships portrayed in a meaningful manner but it remains to be seen whether this leads to a quantifiable paradigm shift.
I was just speaking on comics because i think the pattern is slightly different. But yeah, I mostly agree that outside of comics it's worse. I mean, at least Miles gets to kiss a girl and Falcon can get a hook up. If you're a black person in a sci-fi film, you're not getting much action ( Prometheus not withstanding).
Another one is Luke Fox aka Batwing and Barbara Gordon. They were put together as couple in the final issues of her new 52 run but when Rebirth happened the relationship was written off. Batgirl then got with a new guy, an Asian, and Batwing was put into Dectetive Comics Rebirth with a different personality from what was originally presented. In his first appearance he was an egotistical player who was a hero for "thrills" and Batwoman didn't like him. Batman fans didn't like the character saying he's there for just diversity.
Great catch!
Once again a female writer (I think) simply feeling it a good fit to pair her titular character with a love interest who happens to be black, only for that ish to have to end abruptly soon as she walks out the door, then marinated with these weird personality changes and making the once respectable love interest character some thing unrecognizable.
Even being Morgan Freeman's son wouldn't protect you
I think in comics it's a weird thing. I can think of in recent years them being more willing to show a brother hooking up with someone, just not another black person.
In part that might be because there's somewhat of a shortage of available black females. Storm is with T"Challa, and Monica is with Adam. I guess Misty is free again since she and Sam just broke up.
Claire Temple is out there as an option. I wonder if someone won't be snatching her up sooner or later, since her profile has been elevated a bit by Net Flicks.
And yet, some people call you paranoid when you point out the clear evidence of a concerted pushback against clearly heterosexual black males engaged in healthy romantic relationships with black women or indeed, any women within mainstream comicbooks.
Facts. Although this interracial coupling thread drift came specifically from the Emmet Till treatment that Trevor Barnes and Rhodey were subjugated to for having dared touch let alone kiss the trophy wives of white supremacist (as an extended discussion of the neo Nazi comic retailers being fed up with "blacks, homos and freaking females" while actively admitting they'd sabotage any kind of BP book or mini), the fact is they frown upon if not complety half-ass the ideal black coupling first and foremost, that between black male and black female.
Neglect to cultivate or create black female heroes to pair with the black male hero
Keep the black male heroes asexual
Get mad when a female writer selects the available black male hero to be their white characters love interest
Kill off said black male soon as the writer finish
Wash rinse repeat.
Viscious cycle

I don't totally buy that there's a great shortage. There's a number of female characters out there, they're just in limbo or semi-limbo, or in other titles. Plus, it's not impossible to create new characters ( though I'll admit this is a whole 'nother can of worms).
I saw a cover for an upcoming Uncanny Avengers issue that shows Brother Voodoo and Scarlet Witch kissing, if you read the previous issues its been building towards that. But I wonder how people will take that, I'm not sure how Vision or Wonder Man fans still feel about her but there's a strong chance they'll not like it.
They killed that black man two seconds after he became sorcerer supreme (after giving him the "Doom War" treatment with Victor), so I can only imagine how abruptly this respectively built up romance will end as soon as the current writer (whose work with UA I've enjoyed) inevitable walks away.
I just wonder if Jericho will get punished again afterwards for daring to have nice things.

Often the easiest thing to do is just create a love interest specifically for that character. Sam is currently with Jane, but I don't see that lasting honestly. Since he's got his own book he might wanna just get his own somewhere. Though Nightshade is lurking around the MU somewhere. Maybe she can just sort of take Mistys old spot.

I'll admit I sorta feel bad for Simon. Anytime he ends up with Wanda, he ends up getting killed afterwards. And I'm sure there there are a FEW longtime Vision/Scarlet Witch shippers out there still holding out hope. So yeah, the Voodoo/Wanda thing probably will have a few people that need to be won over.
That said, the idea of a magic couple is kinda fun.

Black male masculinity is scary.
007 James Bond T'Challa was a natural no-brainer move for Coogler, Hudlin and Priest. His sex appeal was as big a part of his character as anything else. Half the ish he got into was bc ladies thought he was too damn fine and didn't know how to act.
But outside of those 3 black men, you'd think BP was either a dickless monk or never got kissed by a girl until monica/storm and suffers from ED if either isn't around.

Idris and Therize never hooked up on screen though.

Miles is only kissing white girls, or every girl, because Bendis is in charge of him.
Idris and Theron is a laughable example of sci-fi "action"
Bendis turned Luke Cage into an emasculated sitcom husband after pairing him with Jessica Jones.
Sam Wilson is the only curious case. He's been cheating on Misty Knight with Jane Foster for over a year now. Or maybe he's in an open relationship and neither girl is bothered. I hope Sam doesn't get punished for his sins.

New trailer likely coming on Monday!

It's actually likely he's just there to promote his new movie that's coming out next week.

He had an on and off thing with Monica Rambeau but it wasn't really explored.

I actually dug Voodoo and Monica from Marvel Divas. I thought they were funny together and was a little bummed at first that she eventually hooked up with Adam. But in hindsight Adam and Monica actually do work well together.
Still, Voodoo is at least getting some action. That's kinda cool.
