I do recall in Morrisons run they were in leather, but I don't remember which was first. I assume the movie and it was just a synergy thing.

Sort of. Grant Morrison came up with the idea of moving the X-Men to costumes resembling their movie attire for his run on New X-Men to help signify that it was a good entry point to readers who may have been coming from the movies. It's a decision that is directly responsible for my fandom, as New X-Men #114 was my first comic.

I'm expecting a heel turn from Nakia similar to Mordo in Strange and set up a sequel. A bigger clue would be who has deals in place for sequels.

Yeah, I think Moro is a great template of how to make a cool movie villain. Loki aside, the villains in the MCU have been somewhat on the underwhelming side. But a heel turn allows viewers more time get emotionally invested in them.
There is already too much negativity being shown between black men and black women in media as it is, time to show a healthy relationship, even if they dont end up together by the end of the movie they should be shown to obviously care for each other and be seen in a positive light
...which is precisely why I don't think Coogler would be stupid enough to do this. I admit I could be wrong, we all could be, but at the same time looking at Coogler's past work I seriously doubt it. He knows a lot is riding on this movie including how black people see themselves and what they can be, their potential. Its not JUST an entry in the Marvel Movies pantheon leading to Infinity War.
It's one thing to think it will happen "cuz comics" its another thing to be in love with the idea. That's a wtf for me. But to each his/her own. But again, seriously doubt it will happen.

It's probably not a good idea to fall in love with the idea of Nakia either way. Whether she's a love interest or an antagonist, I'll wager Coogler will make it work.
MCU versions aren't direct translations of the comic book versions... but there are attempts at making them at least fit with the spirit of the source material.
Yes, Jane foster is not a nurse. But she is Thors love interest rather than say a super villain. THey didn't completely alter her function and turn her into Titania or anything like that. She has a different backstory but effectively follows the same function in the story as she does in the comics.
SO while it's no gurantee that Nakia will become Malice, it's not unreasonable to conclude that anymore than it's unreasonable to conclude Norman Osborn will eventually become the Green Goblin in a Spider-Man movie. If you are a comic fan you know who this character is. She's a character who is initially loyal to T'Challa before doing a heel turn. That may not happen... but in the same breath no one should be surprised if it does.
I'll say if they do decide to go a different right, that's perfectly fine and they have every right to do that. Movies aren't necessarily beholden to follow the source material. But they do often try to stay true to the spirit of the source material even if they obviously can't be direct translations of it. So pretty much across the board the heroes in the comics typically are heroes in the movies, and villains in the comics typically are villains in the movies. If Nakia ends up not falling in that established pattern (and again it's perfectly fine if she doesn't), then she's more the exception than the rule.
Agreed there, pretty much my feelings on it. Besides, if Nakia turns, I can make an "nWo" parody video about it :P
If anything, the lack of belt notches shows that T'Challa is not garden tool!
I do think T'Challa should have a Wakandan ride or die version of Lady Dorma, even if the relationship is off & on.
It looks like we might get that with the film version of Nakia.
I prefer this long term, actually. While I'm not saying he should be a man-ho lol, I don't want T'Challa getting married anytime soon either.
I'm all for 007 James Bond T'Chadwick. And fortunately, that's how Chadwick Boseman also sees the character.
Lupita was already confirmed as his ride or die former lover who is his active love interest again in the movie.
It's pretty much the best of both words for true Black Panther fans: Wakandan love + a non-castrated, suave and classy natural lady's man in T'Challa.
I know ziggly is thrilled

As we have seen with the nWo, the best bad guys are often the ones you sort of want to root for. We'll see if Kill monger and his crew (which Nakia may or may not be a part of somewhere down the line) falls into that category.
I think Loki does, and Mordo might. And I'd also say that about a lot of the Net Flicks baddies. That's a part of what makes a lot of them so cool.

Except thats how T'Challa was initially. He always had that 'suaveness' about him.
We should ask Sue Storm what would have happened if Mr. Fantastic didn't finally start acting like she existed. She knows...

And so does T'Challa. Had she stayed in Wakanda longer, they probably would have wound up banging, and then that would have been really awkward, because the two were/are very attracted to one another in those personal moments.
So it's just something to consider. Though if T'Challa was "James Bond" they probably would have been banging that night, in that pond, for hours, and Reed wouldn't have known. But he respected their marriage, though understanding if they had remained any longer and Sue was still around, it was going to happen. Which is why he had them leave sooner rather than later.

In an nWo parody video (obviously the Bash at the Beach Hogan turn). Klaw and Killmonger are Hall and Nash. T'Challa is Macho Man, and Nakia would be Hogan :P

Yea i think it's obviously going to be a healthy, fun relationship. Coogler is the guy in charge here, let's not forget.
Chadwick stated that him and Lupita joke all the time about whether they're going to introduce more girls to form a love triangle with his "James Bond" character or whether she'll get to continue as his numero uno in the next film. Chadwick's response was just to tease her that she better lock him down! lol
I mean, I joke about "i hope she don't die" etc but they already confirmed in an interview months ago that 1. she is the love interest (former lover.. so socks in the drawer.. and active in the movie), and 2. she ain't dying and will be continuing her role as a love interest in the next one. The only thing Chadwick was being sly about is would they spice it up for the audiences with a love triangle.
Black girls are going to be in for a treat. And the trailer already spells out Nakia's character for the masses, but people will go against the grain if it suits their cause. It tis what it tis lol

Funny you bring up Sue, since she became Malice too.
I guess the convenient thing about T'Challa being bond like is if they hypothetically do decide to have Nakia do Malice, they don't even need a Monica Lynn to get there.

Except that's whats been sorely missed from his character in the last few years :)
As myself and others have stated time and time again.
Hence why we praised his recent portrayal in the Cho-Hulk book and what we've long known about his MCU character lol
(Also why ppl have had issues with his portrayals with Storm... but that's a topic for other people to have)
