But...
Killmonger did lurk in the background until it was time to make his move showing deceptive misdirection traits and then psychologically played everybody just when the time was right...
Killmonger: "Hey auntie!"
T'challa was beaten before they even started fighting because the family card was played to the full extent sucking all the air out of the room against the royal family!
The fact that he trained in so many disciplines from schooling to military and then came in fully prepared to exact his vengeful motive shows decades of patience beyond Loki just randomly finding out he is not of Asgardian royal bloodlines!
Loki whined like a spoiled kid to Odin sending him into his Odinsleep but if Killmonger caught a living King T'chaka somebody getting stabbed over that old school Oakland beef!
If Killmonger was king of Wakanda when Thanos shows up...
Thanos: "Quit playing I was only joking... I'm leaving sorry my man!"
King Killmonger: "BURN EM ALL... SEE WAKANDA AND DIE BEYOTCH!"
I suspect Thanos is the reason why the herb was burned in Black Panther. After seeing Thanos coming, making an army of Panthers/Caps would be a hell of an advantage.

Thanos aside, you probably want Black Panther being more unique and one of a kind. I don't think they want just anyone being able to have the power of BP.
So you've seen stuff like that too? They're calling T'Challa the least interesting main character, saying stuff like they wished killmonger killed him. I blame Ryan Coogler for making him a reactive protagonist and throwing most of his comicbook traits away. I cannot love this movie when I'm seeing more and more people slandering T'Challa all over the Internet.
yes there are too many people saying it for us to just do it by the wayside as hater talk. killmonger got the better of the tala in every encounter that they had even in spots where it made no sense for it to be that way. I'm sure kugler's friendship with Jordan had a small effect on this but it still doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie. I really hope the russos give Tchalla the moment that he really deserves in Infinity War

Sorry. That post had Hella spoilers. Deleted it.
But there was a point in that first fight where T'Challa could have killed Erik, but got bit in the ass by mercy.

Just Jumping in because I am proud to join a bandwagon this good!
I was a fan of Black Panther in the Avengers comics, the Perez Shooter/Busiek books and the Hickman books but I was in no ways a Black Panther expert. Then Ta'Nahesi Coates starts writing it and I feel obligated to read it... and I got lost. There was too much going on but I thought, man that's the way comics use to feel. In fact I was shocked by how much like a comic Coates' book was if that makes any sense. ( I am currently re-reading from issue 1) Then, just because Grant Morrison bragged about the book I picked up the Don Magregor Epic collection, then I picked up the Kirby Masterworks and anyways....
I am surprised by how cohesive the movie makes all that stuff work, and quite frankly, I think the movie brings to life all the different comic book stuff, and we were talking deep in the woods comic book stuff, better than ever before.

True, but I don't think it would matter that much.
Cap faced people with either his powers or close to them in all three movies without diluting his character just fine.
I think making T'Challa unique in such a manner is more a comic book thing IMO, where canon can go on for 30 years and counting.
I just wanted to say I just saw Black Panther and it was amazing! Although during the movie I thought about you guys. The die hard BP fans that come into this appreciation thread and talk about your hero and how finally you guys got the movie you deserved. With all the bad things that happen to T'Challa whether it be bad writing, art etc. You guys, male and female are true fans and my hats are off to you. I mean this from the bottom of my heart and I want to send a special shout out to two of my closets friends Mr. Majestik and Marvel2100 for turning me into a big Black Panther fan. Of course I will be going to see it again and almost all the theaters were I live were sold out. Again my hats off to you and all hail the king.
Here's what I had to say.

Also I'm glad Marvel took my advice on M'Baku.
I'm not one to say I told you so but....
