"redandblacktac". Kitten Mittens.
I already prefer this design to the 616 Shuri. I don't mind the idea of Shuri being the genius that rivals Tony Stark and T'challa just being the Warrior King who just so happens to be very clever. I think turning T'challa into more of a Samurai Jack figure does wonders to his character. Just make sure he's visually brutal and on Spdier-man's speed and power level and it's cool with me.
The big problem with that is the fact that there's already Steve Rogers running around and Cap gets Roman Reigns treatment with the "He's gotta look reaaly strong." There's no chance T'challa's going to be leading anybody if Caps there. There's no chance he'll be portrayed as the best fighter or the best strategist.

I don't I think EMH BP did a great job of showcasing his feats as opposed to the other heavy hitters on the squad. In that show Cap was more Samurai , BP was more Ninja it worked.
Ovay so since comics are collaboration Priest doesn't get credit energy daggers, vibranium suit and Hudlin doesn't get credit for sky bike gotcha..... People like the guy in the clip that I'm not watching based off the title alone have these hater blinders on

I didn't understand that second paragraph. Just to be clear, I don't agree with the guy in the video as I haven't even watched it. I didn't agree with the last time someone linked a millitant black man video that had a guy going off on white people and calling every black person that doesn't agree with their bigoted opinions "coons", "crackas" or "negros."
You have me confused with someone else, mate I didn't link that video. I didn't linkor agree with the other homophobic one either. I don't have the hate blinders, I'm one of the few people in this thread that likes the ideas that Coates has presented.
Your beef isn't with me.

No the second paragraph wasn't for you, just got lazy and didn't make a new post sorry for the confusion.
But the first paragraph was check out BP in EMH I think they got that balance right there
It should be noted that the Luke Cage soundtrack got the most press out of any Marvel soundtrack and the most talked about soundtrack with the populace, and also the fact that Marvel really loves RTJ. It's interesting to me that it's said hip hop is global and it's great that there are rappers in Japan and Germany but rap showing up in this teaser is a cause for a small alarm, I hope there's more hip hop on the soundtrack and it features artist from Africa especially any of the rappers that have been featured on the African hip hop album Adult Swim put out FOR FREE a couple years ago. Not saying you but I get the feeling when folks say "oh I want African soundtrack" they're talking about some Lion King stuff
Lol i wouldn't mind some tribal stuff with drum beating, and something that you dance around fire to.
Not sure how "In the Jungle" would work for Black Panther and it's tone. Overall personally I don't want the majority of the soundtrack to be rap. I'd rather have beats and melodies.

I personally find it in the same boat as when folks with take shots at Black men or women to prop upthe opposite sex. In coatesverse, Coates already has Shuri taking T'Challa's personality and claiming it as her own, so then to take his intellect and make him a clever guy just doesn't make sense, why does it have to be taking from the titular Character? Why can't it be both are extremely intelligent?
But because he is king, Tchalla doesn't create alot of the small gadget stuff like Shuri Does. But big stuff (like N'Yami battle ships, dooms day Panthers, Shadow Physics stuff) is T'Challas Field as it pertains to the overall protection of Wakanda?
I think too often there are intentional, and unintentional limit's placed on POC, or there has to be some sort of trade and there can't be two powerful POC retaining their own powerset while also expanding it. And I think it's something the big two constantly do to these characters and it's very obvious, and as fans we gotta call them out for their crap

Yo for the soundtrack I really hope they go global and include other elements like Grime and Afro Beat.
But for the film score I think it's in good hands they got the same guy who did Creed and that score was good
Ehh...he's not totally wrong in everything he says, but dude has issues
Not everything he says, no. His points about the emasculation of black male characters and the fact that we need to produce our own stuff is on point. People try to pretend that racism has been done away with. It hasn't. As long as racist white people are in control, they will oppress black people with a real vision or understanding of themselves. I didn't even see Get Out but I know what the message of the movie really is just by the trailers. It probably goes over a lot of people's heads.
And yes, on a broad scale, the LGBT rights movement piggybacks the civil rights movements of black people to their advantage but eventually black folk will be left by the curb. I said "on a broad scale" because it's not really the average LGBT person I'm talking about, it's the people higher up who actually have power to form large gatherings and even get radio and tv airtime. It's more the shepherds than it is the sheep, as is the case with any and every cause of any nature.
Coates isn't in the position he is in for how much he understood Black Panther and his ability to craft an epic story, but because someone higher up wants to change what Black Panther has come to represent.

Does the word "agenda" have a stigma these days? When I look at the definition of the word, I see don't the problem.
Definition of agenda
1 : a list or outline of things to be considered or done (agendas of faculty meetings)
2 : an underlying often ideological plan or program (a political agenda)
I think it's clear that their was an "agenda" in place for Black Panther and Marvel as a whole, beginning at the "Marvel Now" launch. The complaints that so much of the changes that have happened to characters such as Black Panther as antithetical to the character or inorganic in execution reveal the "agenda", when had things been done correctly the backlash would have been less and the book sales would likely not drop off as much. The man in the video explains the issues with Black Panther very well. That's not to say that I agree with everything he said, but I agree much more than I disagree.

I 100% agree with you on that second paragraph that you put. All too often do characters the aren't white dudes that get portayed as attractive and competant do they get labelled as Mary Sues. It happens in this very thread. If you want T'challa to be a competant, the hounds come into the thread saying "OH SO YOU WANT HIM TO BE A UNBEATABLE MARY SUE!111!" and when it comes to romances, literally anytime black character goes even near a white character or a character that they "don't consider to be black" like Ororo or any other race there's a freakout among the comic community and it ranges from flame wars to giing the creators death threats over it.
This happened with Batwing and Batgirl. Cyborg and anyone. Miles Morales an anyone . Falcon and Lady Thor. Mr Terrific and Power girl. Wonder Woman and Trever Barnes(they buried this character because of death threats). The examples are endless really, I could keep going.
I'm aware of this "weird" push for poc characters to be portrayed as as asexual robots that act purely as a walking talking plot devices(cough Cyborg cough) but my point wasn't that T'challa should be in that box. I think that if he's the best fighter, strategist and tracker in Marvel while being on Spider-mans power level, it'd be more than enough for me.
If Shuri acts as his Lucious Fox it provides her with more relevancy. I think that it's a good opportunity to have T'challa to use more magic. Not something over the top but I don't see why his shields, teleportation, soul stalking and cloaking couldn't be some light magic work that he found through shadow physics or whatever. I think that the new suit that T'challa gets be a Shuri design along with the energy daggers and force push.
I agree with you on the big stuff part. The battleships should be T'challa's designs.
This is just my opinion though. I'm not one of those people that are telling you to shut up and take what you get like others in this thread. Like I said before, this beef isn't with me.

I'd hate to see the genius of T'Challa handed off to Shuri. It has been one of his defining character traits since day one. And, I know it shows my age, but I want some jazz in there. Maybe some Kwela? Just a whistle and a kalimba in the background echoing the melody of the major theme of the movie's score would suit.

I don't want to see it either, but if Shuri can inspire young girls to become engineers I'll live with it. Real world benifits .
