Considering the fact an aged Bruce Wayne beat the breaks off of Superman in Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns long before Batman vs Superman hit the big screen, I'd say you're categorically wrong.
Batman in DKR got in two hits on a Superman who'd just been nuked and deprived of the sun, and then "died" of a heart attack and would've been arrested upon resuscitation if Superman hadn't covered for him.
That said, we've seen the Human Torch put Surfer in a hold. We've seen a lot of characters us "leverage" to physically restrain him temporarily, or characters with relatively normal human strength slap or punch him and him be startled.
So, there's all kind of precedent there that something is up with him, probably psychosomatically.
Also, Batman knocked the wind out of the Hulk. It's superhero books. Most of this stuff doesn't make sense, it's just either sold to you or it's not.

It's just a comic. Sheesh.
My understanding is precisely that. In fact, Radioactive Man clearly is a different person since it's a Russian by the name of Igor Stancheck not Chen Lu. Black Knight has been several people over time who possessed the ebony blade, so he's easily a different character. There's another character in a later arc who was an alternate version I'm drawing a blank on (it's an Arabic character, though).
Arabian Knight?
-
Arabian Knight?
Yeah. They specifically refer to the Vatican's personal Black Knight when they rip off the actual Arabian Knight for their more religious and colonization-minded version.

If you come into this thread complaining about T'Challa not having any flaws you deserve every bit of shade heaped upon you because you're clearly trolling.
Nobody that has ever read any Black Panther comic could possibly say T'Challa is a "mary sue with no flaws".
This is 2016 not 2006, we are not here for that bull$#*%

Lol.
Anyway, my review of issue #1 should be dropping on Newsarama today. There's some light spoilery stuff there that just covers some of the plot of the first issue, but nothing too major, imo.

I wonder, will there be...crying, declarations of vengeance, imperious laughter, delusions of omni...(I'm not going there), enigmatic hints about secret knowledge, questions about storm's blackness (or lack-thereof), married life, divorces/annulments, cosmic deities possessing others (w/o their knowledge? nah) to flood supercities, armbaring Galactic Glazed beings who surf through the cosmos, finding one's self in a hellish kitchen, raW mooD (heh) & mooD. rD, Shadow Physics, Priests, Hudlins, Mayberrys and Coates?
Should this thread-wide incursion occur, one might have to go...outside.
Will I survive the outside...as I turn my gaze on the what will become of BPA: WGD or risk total conceptual collapse, y'all?
Stay tuned...
All that said, I stilll believe if there was a scene in Justice League where Batman put Superman in an arm bar and threatened to break his arm there would be comparable complaints.
Some fans (though not all) just have issues with that sort of thing. And others will just let it slide. That's just how it is.

So Mcduffie said after the fact when he got backlash, but it never came across that way in the comic.

Apparently some one on twitter already read the first issue and apparently there are new female characters and they might have gotten more pages than T'Challa
So Mcduffie said after the fact when he got backlash, but it never came across that way in the comic.
Actually it did....the problem was people just focused on one page of the comic (that was constantly posted here without any context). McDuffie made it pretty damn clear that surfer was holding back during the entire fight.
The whole kerfuffle had more to do with selective outrage about T'Challa doing something that a bunch of other character did and still do. A few years later Silver surfer was pushed out of a window and kicked off his board by Daredevil and nobody made so much as a peep about it.

If the bad guys end up being the Midnight Angels, I guess it makes sense that females would get a lot of panel time. They're gonna need to be built up in order for us to buy them being credible opponents to T'Challa that we would actually give a damn about.

Which explains why they would have more Panel time than T'Challa in the first issue. Also on the page, he had a picture from the comic of an woman pulling down her hoodie. Not sure who that is suppose to be but I'm guessing its someone important

Any Spider Man/Daredevil fight that lasts longer than 15 seconds and ends with a consious Daredevil is outright B.S. and nobody ever yells about that.

The press gets to read it first in order to review it.
Any Spider Man/Daredevil fight that lasts longer than 15 seconds and ends with a consious Daredevil is outright B.S. and nobody ever yells about that.
The level of inconsistancy with Spider-Man has always bugged me... though I suppose Spider-Man fans in general are either used to it or don't care. The fact that he can go trading blows with Daredevil and Kingpin on a Tuesday and Rhyno and Sandman or a Thursday is just weird. They try to explain it by saying he's holding back but he's so all over the place.
And the same can be said for Surfer too I suppose. Guys historically is probably the most powerful hero on the planet (at least top 3 for most of marvels history) but he's also probably the most jobbed out hero. Tough to be a Surfer fan sometimes.
But it's comics... most readers don't care. Even the ones who complain about this sort of thing on the internet represent a very small small percentage of the readership. So really it's seldom a thing writers will even have to take note of, with a few exceptions here and there.

I'm a little disappointed they didn't include the majority of Hudlin's run, which I feel is a better "all-ages" approach to the character than the other runs.
-
Looks like the first issue is getting rave reviews. However, I'm still cautiously watching. I'm not really looking for a comic scolding Tchalla, I'm sick of it actually. That's all we have been reading really FOR YEARS. Its time for something different. Like allow him to get a flat out win or kick ass ON PANEL.
