yes but what was supposed to be going on in the flashback scenes? it wasn't exactly spelled out that clearly. I'm guessing that this was his sister and that she was hearing voices, right? because, at first, I thought that he was infatuated with a neighbor girl and his father disapproved or something.
His sister was schizophrenic so the insane asylum lobotomized her.
You been paying attention to this shit? You gotta laugh to keep yourself from crying at the pure ridiculousness of it all. I've been in my bag recently because I stumbled onto Umbra/Seven's thread about "O'oreo" over at HEF just a few days ago. I don't remember ever replying to that thread. But just reading through in the last past week, I can't disagree with a single point he was making. It's indicative of a very widespread problem, and Coates is the first step in changing that. He's already laid the ground work in BP&C. Lol look at the type of reaction he got from fan reaction to "Blue!" And her interpretation of the gentrification issue that took place in Harlem. Lmao the jokes write themselves...
I'm sorry but Coates is just another step in the seemingly endless staircase of nerfing that T'Challa has suffered post Reginald Hudlin's excellent run. (Followed by David Liss.)
I don't see how anyone would think otherwise but I suppose as he's been writing Storm well, that's all that matters. (To some.)
Well played by the X-Office.
They weren't fooling BP fans with that. All you need to do is look at the approach Coates took to "mending" the relationship. Everything was T'Challa's fault.
Then there was the stealth mini called Black Panther & The Crew(insert joke here).
Black Panther: Getting Screwed more like.
A true masterclass in shade throwing orchestrated by Coates in conjunction with the very franchise he's used the BP solo to secure entry into.
When you have a situation where all of T'Challa's best (in character) appearances occurred OUTSIDE OF HIS OWN SOLO and some readers hail Coates as the best thing that's happened to the BP mythos, you know that goal post moving at its most disingenuous is occurring on a monumental scale.
A veritable candy store for unfans everywhere.
You guys have been saying it for months. I need some time to collect my thoughts. I'm really not feeling this news.
Too true. I feel like I got my hopes up for nothing. And now everyone here has the right to say "I told you so" even though I was aware of the possibility, but I just wanted to be optimistic. I really don't want Storm to go back to be being triflin.
That's exactly what I read it as. The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get. Even more so than before, I get why you guys were mad that Coates even brought Storm on board. He wasted precious time trying to make sense of their relationship now, when ultimately he had no plan and no way of ensuring that his vision for them wouldn't be distorted and demolished. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be grateful for his portrayal of her and them together, but I can't shake the feeling that he had no true end goal for them. It feels like a true waste. Smh
Like wtf, really? I just can't stop asking myself "what's the point?"
Yes don't be too hard on yourself, look at it This way, at least Storm Will have a solo and given the track record she will have a good showing. Coates wants to write her. So be glad about that at least

Indeed. Now if only we can find a way to get Coates to leave Black Panther permanently.

Yeah, she should have a very well written solo and I think it will do well. As long as Coates doesn't try to make Storm someone's Spider-Man, she'll be fine.
This should be more up his ally to explore the themes he's interested in.
Just get him off Black Panther.

You know, I kinda touched on this in another thread. Its crazy how even with you guys critiquing Coates' T'Challa as subpar, there's stiĺl a faction of Marvel readership that looks at his writing and sees it a "too black." That really throws me for a loop. You guys are saying he's not writing BP good enough. There are still people that think he's writing a "mary sue." And I don't think that's likely to change. A fellow Storm fan, and friend of mine, was recently attacked (via PM) just for liking the "nigger bitch" Storm. There are just some people that can't handle a truly powerful and commanding BLACK character. It's really sad. Then we're made to feel bad because we like her because she's black and ungodly powerful. That's why my Sig is what it is.

BBEERYAN, Reginald Hudlin made a pitch that Marvel Editorial saw as being viable
Hudlin followed the continuity of both Ororo and T'Challa to the core and as such an other blamed for the crap the X-Office pulled during and after Hudlin moved on.
As for your friend who was abused online, I hope he or she took the appropriate action by raising the matter with the appropriate authorities.
Be of good cheer my friend.
All's well that ends well.

Honestly I think marvel pretty much allows gives writers a lot of lattitude to do what they want to do.
Hudlin wanted to marry Storm and T'Challa, presumably the X-writers didn't have any strong objections, so they allowed it. Aaron wanted to put Storm and Logan together, Hickman (who was the closest thing to a BP writer at the time) presumably didn't have any strong objectoins, so they allowed it. Coates wanted to put Storm and T'Challa back together, presumably the current crop of X writers have no strong objections, so again they allowed it.
I'm honestly doubtful editorial has strong feelings about it one way or the other. They probably just allow the writers to do what they wanna do, provided it's not stepping on anyone elses toes. The only exceptions are probably certain super iconic couples like Reed/Sue or Lois/Clarke. But there arent' too many of those left in comics.

This is why I never wanted to come off as dismissive to you guys and your complaints. I know what it's like to want the best for your favorite heroes. Granted, I happened upon BP much later, but I know what's like to identify with a hero and put a good amount of yourself into them. I came across Storm during the fox Saturday morning cartoon. Before that I couldn't remember seeing a black superhero on tv. Of course, there were other things that attracted me to her, for sure. I don't ever want that to be mistaken. But the fact that I could look at her and make a mental connection that "hmm, her skin is like mine." I don't think I'll ever forget that. As I mentioned previously, it wasn't until I was much older and I came here that I was forced to question if she was truly like me.
