Im assuming you meant Priest's run? Hudlin never really had anyone narrate for T'Challa, in Hudlins run, we saw less of the pragmatic enigma 2 steps ahead of you BP, and more of the Hardcore, badass taking down A-list heroes and villains alike Bp. He was still pragmatic but he was always very direct in his approach of situations.
My bad. Meant Priest. Hudlin went the opposite way in humanizing him more... which probably makes sense since his end goal was to evolve him into a husband.

To be honest i think both version are good, the portrayed T'challa in 2 different lights, and really i think that BP should be a combo of both Priest and Hudlins versions and that would the best BP ever seen and would be extremely enjoyable to read

That she did some one should ask one of the writers using T'Challa to bring her back

Agreed. That would be a very good take on the character.
Yea she was a very useless character, she is basically a cookie cutter character that wasn't anything special in terms of back story or really any potential. Having his love interest be a hero or atleast a very capable fighter means that there is less of this "Kidnap the damsel" and more power couples kicking ass together
Boo, McGregor knew how to bring out characters- which is what drew me to Monica. It was clear the other writers didn't know her as well as he did, because she knows how to fight and stand up for herself just fine without T'Challa.
That she did so what you're asking one of the writers using T'Challa to bring her back
Most definitely. :)

I've always said that I felt Hudlin's version of T'Challa was a combination of Priest's and Kirby's version of the character. For all the talk of Hudlin not knowing continuity he clearly drew from many of the old comics from his childhood during his run. He pulled out some fairly obscure character and concepts like the Red Ghost, Arabian Knight, and that Skrull planet that was filled with gangsters.

Yeah McGregor was the only person that seemed to know how to use the character, or even really bothered trying to honestly.
But that's not even a problem unique to Monica... really a lot (dare I say pretty much all) BP writers tend to essentially blow off the previous writers supporting cast and world buiding in general so they can do their own thing.
That said I do honestly believe the movie is going to dig up a few from the past, and I think it will force the comics to do the same. I'm personal guess is we'll be seeing Monica (or at least a variation of Monica... they'll probably stick whatever love interest fits into the story and just slap the name Monica on her), M'Baku, and Ross in the movie. Along with obviously Klaw and T'Chaka.
Love interest, comedic side kick, villains... all the key ingredients to a sucessful action movie will be there.

IMO, T'Challa in the Priest run felt more like a force of nature, while in the Hudlin run, T'Challa was more of a man of action, which probably stemmed from the influences of the Kirby run.
I felt the combination of the Priest and Kirby version was much more apparent in certain story arcs of the Hudlin run and especially towards the end of the run.

Yeah, he had a habit of over doing the narrative, but he was open about how much he loved writing Black Panther comics. It seems Coates is enthused- which is why I am interested in his take in Spring.
I have no problem with writers adapting characters to fit a new setting and era, its more that I would like for them to acknowledge what a previous writer set-up and adapt it rather than erase it completely, but that isn't my call only my criticism. Besides that Monica would be a better stand-in as someone who is close to T'Challa than Storm, because Marvel likely has rights to her character.
I am still so-so about Ross (potential comedic side kick)

In simple terms I think Hudlin's Black Panther was more Millar written Captain America while Priests was more Morison written Batman. Hudlins will beat the snot out of you once he shows up, but Priests version will have already won the fight before you've even shown up.

With no Storm in the comics, and no possibility of Storm in the cinematic universe I think Monica is the obvious choice. Though I suppose there's still time for marvel to throw someone else in there if they really want to.
As far as Ross... honestly I think he's a character that's built for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Those movies have humor woven into their dna and that frankly won't be T'Challa's strong suit. Having him provide that element and play off T'Challa in a sort of side kick/friend role basically writers itself for the movie. And the fact that he's a government agent means he can easily be used elsewhere in the MU... Agents of SHIELD for example or Captain America. He's probably the best member of T'Challa's supporting cast to go out and inter mingle with the rest of the MU.

I think Coates either mentioned her on twitter or someone mentioned her to him and he said he'd check her out
He is doing research we know that much

Good summation. Without trying to be too nitpicky, I'd add that Hudlins BP would beat the snot out of you, in various ways, once he shows up.
Absolutely correct on Priest. You may see, sense, or feel that something T'Challa has kicked off a while back is happening, but ultimately, there's so little you can do about it, if at all.
