Hey quick question...
When the Skull/Panther fight went down in the Red Zone Avengers arc... was Skull in the cloned body of Cap at that time?
I would assume so considering Skull held his own against T'challa but he has come and gone so often int he comics I cannot remember how strong he was physically at the time.
Doing a right up on the fight for my blog and just wanted to add a few more details.
I've never been to this thread before but just wanted to say, if they ever do a Black Panther film it has to be told through the eyes of Everett K. Ross.
Care to explain why it *has* to happen that way?
T'Chaka confirmed!
Great find. I'm glad to see T'Chaka there among the crowd and wonder if the two of them will have any more private moments together. I really want to see the two of them interact and would love it if somehow Shuri was also included someway.
I've never been to this thread before but just wanted to say, if they ever do a Black Panther film it has to be told through the eyes of Everett K. Ross.
As much I loved Ross I gotta say no. I would rather see it through T'challa's eyes
I want you guys opinions on this.
Would you say the introduction of Shuri lessened the blow of T'challa losing T'chaka at a young age since originally he was alone with no siblings?
To me. Ross only worked in the MCU if the movie started out SHIELD based with fury needing/wanting to seek out Wakanda or t'challa for vibranium. Then shield agent Ross could of been used as a exposition information dump plot device. "Shields expert on secretive nations and places.... Like the blue area of the moon, madipoor, and the savage land"
The client doesn't work for a entry point story for the panther mythos into the MCU in my opinion

To be honest, I feel like T'chaka's impact on T'challa as a whole as been non existent for a long time.
I cannot remember the last time it felt like it MEANT something.
Not saying it is a good or bad thing, just an observation.
I don't think Shuri has anything to do with it either way. I do wish Shuri and T'challa would interact more on a brother/sister level as a whole though.

Welcome to the thread.
Please elaborate on why you feel Everett K. Ross would be an essential component of any propose Black Panther movie.
I'd be more interested in seeing Agent Coulson interact with T'Challa in a live action movie than Everett K. Ross.

Everett K. Ross...
Having this character as a point of view in Black Panther was great before President Obama got elected and gave many State of The Union Address using his own voice!
Either a man can speak for himself or he can't... Having a stand in means that the audience itself is either immature or the writer is when trying to appeal or appease them!
There are many prominent black leaders, black entertainers, black politicians and black scientists like Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson that are well spoken all by their lonesome!
Everett K. Ross was actually designed as a subtle insult by Christopher Priest as he navigated the Marvel offices and fan base to sell comics!
http://digitalpriest.com/legacy/comics/panther/start.html
There is nothing wrong with doing this until the day after commentary starts up and ruins the whole entire experience... Professional movie reviewers will not be kind to this outdated method of storytelling and point it out for what it is!

You've hit the nail right on the head wit this post Brotha FLEX.
I see no reason why any potential BP movie would need Everet K. Ross's narration when every other Marvel movie hasn't needed anyone providing running commentary in a similar manner.
That art is so good, I can't wait for that issue. I also want the variant, Marvel are gonna have me spending close to $100 in the next two weeks on Black Panther variants

I don't think I would want him narrating but I would still want Ross in a BP movie if it ever happens
Coulson would work just as well. What I liked about Ross was it made T'Challa's charisma and regal stature stand out. I never read it as Black Panther not being able to speak for himself, in fact I felt his words had more power due to the fact we saw him through the eyes of someone on the opposite end of the spectrum. That Black Panther is a man to look up to, not try to identify with. I wouldn't want a literal narration, just an angle of awe towards the character.
Kind of like in the West Wing whenever somebody was being ignorant and offensive Bartlett would walk in and shoot the person down with an informed confidence and style that made everyone else pay attention. It's an angle that could set a Black Panther film apart from other superhero movies while still having all the action and bad ass moments.

That is great art and captures the hunter aspect of T'Challa. He looks like he is on the prowl right now.

Thanks for the breakdown. :)
I'd love to know joe quesadas (sp?) thoughts on the black panther movie direction. He certainly, if anyone, would want to see that early priest marvel knights tone reflected in the movie.
You just gotta kinda hope they are really trying to pick their spot with it. Again I questing out loud. Could, in the MCU, vibranium be one of the Infiniti stones?
I'd be more interested in seeing Agent Coulson interact with T'Challa in a live action movie than Everett K. Ross.
I think the Agents of Shield TV show is draining his credibility. Couslon is good in small doses ( My opinion) I thought he would have been better served to have been more of the head of the agency when Fury and Hill weren't around. I think Everett should play a role in a BP film. Because BP tho intelligent would still need to bridge from his world to the overall Marvel U.
Unless of course that role were fulfilled by Steve Rogers.
The one thing that usually kills the Black Panther is the unwillingness to go all in and deal with him as a character straight up!
I get it that he is that elephant in the room and probably makes executives cringe at the idea of putting him on screen but at some point he has to say "Hello" to people and speak up for himself if he is to take his rightful place as a legitimate hero among all the other characters that speak for themselves in solo movies!
Everett K. Ross would be seen differently by a movie going audience that knows very little about the why's of comic book politics and paid a pretty good penny to see this character in Imax 3D!
In this politically correct era Ross as a character would be obvious to any viewer with any degree of common sense as to what he is really there for!
I watched a few scenes of 42 today with no real intent to watch the whole movie unless my wife forces me too but Jackie Robinson is an example of that old way of having "Handlers" for a black person because you fear what might come out of his mouth directly to a listener!
It's cool to have white guys take your side every now and then but what can end up happening is that it becomes a movie about black people starring white people... A time To Kill and Mississippi Burning are examples of this!
If fears are that high maybe it's best to hire Kevin Hart and let him loud talk his way through the movie if it makes one feel more comfortable that way!

just saying
they have named how many of the stones out of 6?
by nature the MCU infinity stones are best generally described "rocks with magic powers" boiled down to its barest elements, isnt vibranium a rock with magic powers?

The Marvel movies have shown three Infinity Stones to date: The Tessaract/Cosmic Cube (CA:TFA, Avengers), the Aether (Thor:TDW) and the blue gem on Loki's Staff from Avengers (revealed to have been an infinity gem in the close credits of CA:TWS).
I'm all for Ross being in the Black Panther movies.
The Film industry being what it is, I don't REALISTICALLY see how a B.P. movie could get made without Ross as a major cast member.
Or Will Smith as B.P.
Either/Or.

No it's a metal with a number of uniquely special properties.
The Infinity Gems are jewels.
Yes, there are more characters that will become involved, and some characters will shift into the background. We'll be changing the cast as we go along. The Black Panther secret investigation team will be a part of the story through its entire run.
It's a huge cast, and the focus will shift a little bit as we go along. There are still a few characters we haven't even seen yet.
I would totally read a book called "The Black Panther Secret Investigation Team".
No it's a metal with a number of uniquely special properties.

metal/stones in only the loosest sense... are not most rocks composed of metal compounds? vibranium was from a metroite..most comonnly considered by the general public "large space rock"
the mind gem in the staff is wide open with no details.... the eather is like cosmic slime... no where near a stone... the tesseract is more accuratly described as cosmic energy not a stone
none of the 3 "stones" "jewels" what ever share a common trait. other then its a mysterious object of power... kinda like vibranium
im not trying to be a heretic
I did a post on my blog with the entire Skull/Panther fight from Red Zone.
Check it out if you are interested. I would just copy and paste the whole thing on here but it would break the 3 page rule.
http://themindofshadow.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/comic-book-brawls-black-panther-vs-red-skull/
For the BP fans that havn'et seen the whole fight, it have 99% of the relevant panels on there.
Let me know if I made any mistakes. My blog isn't really a "comic" blog so to speak so it really isn't meant for hardcore fans or anything. Mostly trying to get other people into comics (and have actually succeeded surprisingly).
Thanks.

Where was this posted?
And... ditto.
For everyone who has signed the petition so far, can you please share the petition link with your family, friends and colleagues on Twitter, Facebook, etc.?
So far we only have about 35 signatures, which I don't think will impress Marvel that much.
Also, if you haven't signed it because I forgot to send you the link, please let me know and I'll send it to you.

I jsut figure people in this thread would keep me updated lol
I don't think petitions do anything (and I don't feel comfortable giving out my address). Marvel will eventually collect that stuff.
70 online signatures won't make them print an omnibus
Will Smith as Black Panther... Wesley Snipes joked about that due to The Fresh Prince being so bankable but that sounds more like what Hollywood would do as an afterthought!
Let's hope that Marvel Studios keeps a separate perspective from the standard issue Hollywood fare and tries to be more bold with their decision making!
Vic I think what you are saying about Ross holds true if they do not have a definitive way of presenting Black Panther but lately in the comics they are at least presenting him as a team leader though with no Ross sightings since like ever!
I like the Priest version just without Ross because it harkens back to a slap schtick era before President Obama became such a worldwide BOSS!
It's tough not to see what controversy will come down the line as a Black Panther movie gears up... Ross... Man Ape... Bast...
The one thing that I fear is that the movie could be so bad that I refuse to see it after seeing ridiculous trailers that turn me off completely!
I just saw Thor 2 on Mother's Day during a family gathering where my brother insisted we watch it OnDemand but I still have not seen Captain America 2!
I already have my ongoing Comic-con boycott over a lack of Black Panther so who knows when I will get back to full blown appreciation again!
I might have to be won back convincingly before I move on to greener pastures elsewhere with another character as my favorite!
But I maintain a steady faith that a true "Point Man" will come to the rescue at some point soon...

ooo me me me!
NOW will some of you admit that this whole "King of the Dead" business is a fizzle?
With that out of the way, I said after the last issue that I knew Hickman wasn't going to just drop the whole thing about T'Challa killing Namor. It may take a while for it to pay off but when Hickman brings up things like that it's always followed up on. Same goes for the bond Hickman established between T'Challa and Reed.
