I'm delighted at every little thing i see about the Black Panther Movie.
I'm not legally allowed to give details about Black Panther's Quest, yet. We've been working on it for months and it has eaten a good part of my life. So much awesomeness is coming.
We are bringing the heat. Marvel is all aboard for this. No half steps.
2018 belongs to Wakanda.
I'm not kidding.
Stay tuned.
Thank you sir
I'm not sure if you are able to answer this right now but will there be a difference in the quality of animation? Btw I didn't know you was Redjack from HEF!
I can't talk about ANY details of the show yet. Not even how it's going to look (and I don't really know, anyway, because we haven't gotten a full episode of animation completed yet. it takes MONTHS for an animated episode to be finished. We're just now winding down on the script writing part of the seasons.)
And, yep. there's only one Redjack.
All those characters you cited are all under the same franchise umbrella and now let's look at T'Challa and Storm. In his book they are around each other and talking while over in the X-Men books she is featured in they make no mention of her being around him let alone her taking trips to Wakanda, when Supes and Wonder Woman where dating despite them being under two separate franchise umbrellas DC made sure that they acknowledged their courtship in their respective titles as well as creating a separate joint title they both shared.
Bringing it back home we have once again the BP office doing all of the work and under better writers we all saw how that turned out
And none of the on again off again stuff is never fun or interesting to read about
I mean... it's not happening lol. Not in the movies, not in the cartoon... and we all know what's going to happen in the comics as soon as the current writer steps away... the same thing that happened last time, but with far less fan outrage or controversy because far less people care about that coupling; her presence isn't exactly generating sales or exciting stories, as the book continues to sink, her crew book was dead on arrival, and all excitement for BP is centered on the MCU version and their cast of characters.
And also in real life, people go back to their exes, or have on-again off-again relationships with their significant others. Sometimes divorced couples remarry each other. Characters like Ross and Rachel from "Friends" and J.R. Ewing and Sue Ellen Ewing from "Dallas" come to mind, as well as Gary and Valene Ewing from "Knots Landing."
Those characters dated, married, cheated on each other, took relationship breaks, got divorced, married others, divorced those other spouses, got back with their exes, remarried their exes, etc. etc. This kind of behavior/storytelling drama happens a lot in fiction and probably happens a lot in real life, too.
I see no reason why T'Challa and Ororo can't rekindle their romance when a whole bunch of other fictional couples are allowed to do it.
I respect your passion on this but for me, the minute Marvel allowed the debacle of Ororo assaulting T'Challa during AvX and then jumping into bed with Wolverine shortly thereafter, she became dead to me as a character.

Trust me, it took me a long time to move past that. But seriously, putting Black Panther and Storm back together is a losing battle. Fox isn't giving up the rights to any of their marvel characters anytime soon, so why bother? And before anybody says they should be together because she's his most well known love interest all I have to say is this: I don't care.
And besides we got a revamped Nakia coming in the movie, and there's also the possibility the upcoming animated series could introduce some new ladies after the kings heart, whose to say any of the possibilities I just mentioned couldn't get the Harley Quinn treatment and end up in the comics due to sheer popularity? Especially since more people watch movies and television more than they read comics.
Black Panther and Storm as a pairing could've worked but the poor handling of this couple by Marvel editorial combined with the fact that the X-Office won't stop acting like a bunch of petty children just made me think it's way past time T'Challa move on and see other people. His star is rising anyway, so its best to release any baggage from the past.

I honestly don't think a team book is necessarily as obligated to mention the love interests of one of the characters as much as a solo book is though. When Luke Cage was in Thunderbolts for example, it's not like they ever used Jessica Jones. It would be weird if Jessica Jones never showed up in Luke Cages solo book... but her not ever showing up in Thunderbolts didn't seem that weird to me. Same thing with Sam dating Misty while he was on Avengers. She never showed up and I'm not sure she was even mentioned... but I'm not sure she needed to be mentioned.
That's not to say that I necessarily think things will work out with Storm and T'Challa in the long run. Logistically speaking it's more difficult to have 2 characters from 2 different franchises in a relationship... and I said that all the way back when Hudlin first paired them in the first place. I don't think this will last... but really how many comic book relationships in the long run do? Reed and Sue and maybe a small handful of others, but it's not a terribly long list. The truth is a relationship with a brand new love interest is potentially just as easily ignored (if not moreso), and just as likely to end when the next BP writer shows up.
I will say that the movie actually does have the potential of cementing a love interest for the character in the minds of readers... though I still don't think that'll end up being Nakia. I still think there's a more obvious direction they're taking with that character. But we'll see.

Zanda, could work under the right writer she could be written as the female T'Challa rich smart and very dangerous #boss they can write off her other appearances as lmds

Yup, the rest of the world is moving forward to a more lit Black Panther in 2018, from top to bottom. Those who want to stay behind in that archaic times of BP being a rudderless borderline apologetic cuckhold to his ex-wife and Wolverine (and Gambit??) and anyone else the x-office wants, good for them. I'll take Lupita Nyong'o over that. I'll take the cartoon and movie women over that, Bast bless us all. Amen.
As a fan of both I never understood the sudden shipping outside of them both being alpha characters, while it was out of nowhere I enjoyed her pairing with Rhodey as little done with that as it was
They just want BP to sleep with any woman outside of his own native country. Marinated with excuses.
Agreed with everything, if T'Challa gets with anyone they need to be on the same level i.e boss
The problem is there aren't a whole lot of available boss level female characters out there.
There are some reasonably high profile female characters out there like Black Widow or Electra... but I'm not sure the power couple vibe that he generated with Storm can ever be duplicated. Captain Marvel might be the closest option.
As fun as BP being in a power couple was, if the Storm thing doesn't work out the second time around (and honestly long term I don't think it will), BP franchise might have to just seattle for having a regular old non power couple love interest.

Not that a villain and hero dating is necessarily a bad thing. BP having his own Cat Woman could be a lot of fun.

But if you go with Bast for a love interest, there's the issue of her being immortal while T'Challa is not. But Zanda really could work if you tweak her a bit.

I think it's a sign of status to have your own "cat woman."
Most of the A list marvel guys do. Cap had Diamondback, Thor had Enchantress, Iron Man had Madame Masque, and of course Spidey had Black Cat. So T'Challa getting a more established one is probably a good idea.

With all of this coming up next year, I can only hope that Marvel editorial will green light another black panther title with a writer who actually gives a **** about this character instead of somebody from Coates inner circle. I can't rock with Swan at all. She was there when Wakanda burned. She literally has Wakandan blood on her hands. You might as well make Proxima Midnight, his friend with benefits:)

In the MU gods are really just powerful beings anyway. So while it's a little weird, I suppose it's workable provided T'Challa stop looking at Bast as his god. God's hoOK up with mortals all the time in mythology anyways, though it's rarely if ever anything serious.
-
T'Challa being with a goddess feels like a little much for me. It feels almost disrespectful for him to be in a committed relationship with Bast. I'd be ok with a fling with some minor god or some sort of demigod but a full on goddess doesn't sit well. Unless of course T'Challa himself attains some sort of godhood, which his fully realized KoD powers might give him when the time comes. If T'Challa needs a real love interest outside of Storm I'd rather it be some demigod who can help him explore his spiritual powers. Someone who can hold their own in a fight, give an aspect of T'Challa more depth, and someone who can go through their own little story as well. Maybe as a result of her associating with a mortal she loses favor with other gods or something. But if the deity route is too much we could always get some random Wakandan noblewoman or a Dora Milaje with a unique story.

Again though, it's not uncommon for Pantheon gods to hook up with mortals. Or at least male Pantheon gods... can't think of any examples of females doing it off the top of my head. Zeus for example was practically the R Kelly of the mythological world.
The other weird thing I suppose being that Bast hasn't always been identified with a female gender (who in recent years that's been the case when it's taken a more humanoid form). I don't see T'Challa bedding down with the version of the Panther God we saw in vol. 2 of Black Panther for example... though I guess for gods gender is sort of moot. They can appear however they want.

I'm not saying it's impossible or even out of character for a deity to hook up with a mortal, I just don't like the concept all that much for BP. I don't know the word for it, but to sleep with someone you should be worshiping is strange. And the fact that Bast technically has no gender other than what it chooses is also kinda funky. Either way, a demigod works better for me.

I'd make her a telepath. There aren't any non-mutant female Black telepaths. Hell, I don't think there are any Black telepaths period. And her being unable to read T'Challa's mind would just be some side stuff to work on in the story.

I'll admit I find the idea a little weird too. I'm trying to keep an open mind about it and give the idea the benefit of the doubt, but because T'Challa is essentially the high priest of his religion him hooking up with his god is kinda weird. I'm Catholic, so the notion of one of my Priests making out with my god seems all kinds of wrong to me.
Plus, to be honest I'm not sure T'Challa would wann hook up with Bast. She let Doom get their vibranium, and essentially went somewhere to hide when Thanos destroyed Wakanda and moved into Basts living room in Time Runs Out. I get that gods typically don't interfere or whatever but it still comes off as kinda lame to me.

Yeah, besides the awkwardness of a potential BP-Bast relationship, Bast is a lazy god, to put it nicely. I mean, even Storm, who clearly wasn't comfortable being queen fought for Wakanda whenever there was a threat. Bast couldn't be bothered to appear in most of Wakanda's most dire moments so what confidence should T'Challa have in it when the time to defend the nation comes? If I were T'Challa I'd be pissed to actually know for certain my god exists and that it simply chooses not to do anything when it clearly has nothing better to do. If they were together he'd likely be putting more into the relationship than her :p
