I dont think there is Shuri hate. I think she is just a talking point for posters to war about. There is nothing to hate about Shuri. IMHO, she is probably the strongest supporting character that BP got. When she first took over the BP role, they was of course that you would get with any replacement hero. I think for the vast majority BP=TChalla, and accept no substitute.
Personally, I'm indifferent to Shuri so i'm sometimes surprised by the strong emotion she brings out of people (hate/infatuation/whatever)... then again, i'm really just talkin about on this board, and with the type of circular arguments that always happen here about everything and nothing lol.. its probably not too surprising actually :D
But see for me, in the past few days I just witnessed a brilliant 5 page BP comic preview, brilliant CW interviews with Boseman and the directors, a fantastic world premier trailer in which BP is kicking (Bucky's) ass, and a gang of toys and action figures of T'Challa... including fighting Bucky in a gladiator arena to promote a brand of friggin popcorn.. lol
The franchise player of the entire mytho is getting A list treatment, i've been waiting 15+ years for this, and it's happening, and it's awesome. I'm super hyped! Everything else like his love interest (most important supporting cast to me actually), his villains, his best bro, the supporting cast, rah rah rah i dont even care.. i'm just basking in these moments right now :p
Agreed. Black Widow didn't take away anything from Cap in Winter Soldier. No reason Shuri could not have a similar role/part.
You're right, she didn't.
But then, her background, training and abilities were completely different from Cap's. Physically speaking, Cap was the only one who fight the Winter Soldier.
Shuri is of the same blood, training, and abilities. Panther's little sister is basically her thing.
The differences between Widow and Cap, and T'Challa and Shuri, aren't the same. Just sayin'.

Black Panther and Spider-Man in the same movie

Not to mention they lowkey made it seem like a romance in the making. Natasha pestering Steve about how he needs to find a girlfriend... him essentially telling her that it would take a unique type of girl who could deal with his crazy life... then some of the coincidental moments they had for plot reasons, like the escalator spot.. i actually thought it was one of the better paced "progressions"... as opposed to the in-your-face love/lust stuff we so often see in other films. But of course, that was all a moot point/misdirection after AoU. lol

I actually liked the lack of romance. It's a cliche that female and male characters can't work together without falling in love.

Honestly the whole Black widow Bruce Banner thing seem kinda forced. I would of much rather seen a cap black widow love interest, they seemed to fit better in WS . so I very much agree with you lol. The AoU interest was kinda like they were throwing it out there for some minor drama that had very meh conclusion

You say that, yet it happened anyways in AoU, atleast if it were Cap it would have made more sense because WS would of formed the interest in The first place, so your point is moot

Err, my point remains just fine, because in Winter Soldier, Cap and Widow did not in fact hook up.
And considering that Avengers was a team movie, a guy and a gal hooking up is more a checklist thing than a cliche, especially given that it didn't happen in Avengers either
-
Off topic but does anyone else think that the reason test audiences have said that Civil War ends on a dour note is NOT because of a character death but because Team Cap essentially loses?
And by loses I mean Team Cap and The New Avengers get defeated and Steve Rogers is caught and inprisoned?
During a brief scene in the trailer we see what looks like it could be Prison 42, and who better to place in such a high tech prison than Steve Rogers, Scarlett Witch, and potentially Bucky? With Ant-Man, Falcon, and Hawkeye on the run, Tony completely estranged from the team, and The Avengers pretty much disbanded, that would make for one HELL of an unhappy ending.
Plus nobody dies, setting up the eventual reconciliation in Infinity War.
I could also see Black Panther, again with the caveat that Bucky is NOT T'Chaka's murderer, compromising with the government and allowing Bucky to be imprisoned for his crimes after he is subdued.
-
I'd honestly be surprised if Cap doesn't end up imprisoned by the end of the movie. Everyone seems to forget he was on his way to court when he was 'killed'.
That said, he might take the fall for the sake of his team, and be the only one imprisoned
-
Getting back to T'Challa, I'd bet money that the people who die around Panther aren't Shuri or anyone, but just random Wakanda redshirts
-

it would still be a cliche, it's still a guy and a girl working together then hooking up. You can't cherry pick it like that because the same fact remains, a guy and a girl couldn't work together and have it strictly be business
-
I actually liked the lack of romance. It's a cliche that female and male characters can't work together without falling in love.
I think part of that is the whole sex sells thing, so in a 2 hour flick where you have the muscled 'hunk' (the Evans, Hemsworth, Boseman, etc), the best (tho sometimes laziest) way to cash in on the female audience is to bring an attractive woman whose also 'tough'/witty/etc... to be desired by or have the desirable qualities the 'hunk' would want. So its definitely a strategic/intentional trope they use imo; that women would rather be the love interest of Batman/Superman/Captain America, etc than the platonic friend who doesn't get the emotional romantic payoff when the movie or trilogy ends.
Not that i think it's necessary (i'm not a fan of romance movies at all) but I don't mind the trope, long as it's tactful. And I thought TWS was very tactful with it, felt like a well thought out set up to me.. and not something out of a teen book.
Honestly the whole Black widow Bruce Banner thing seem kinda forced. Not only did I like the setup of CA/BW in TWS but i was intrigued in seeing how it would naturally progress in future movies. With BW/Hulk, not so much for me lol but i'm not sure how most others felt/feel about it.

Err, they worked together and no romance in Winter Soldier, which, again, was my point. And while no it wasn't strictly business, as they became closer as friends, they still weren't romantic, which was my point.

there was hints of flirtation in the movie, comments being made between them fit much better then in AoU where it was like then trying to fit the circle block kntk a square opening.
Either way I could see cap and BW getting closer and in CW and them being a thing. She would be the only person who could keep up withall that's going on in his life and a solid rock

Back when Chadwick said this a few weeks back:
"The vibranium is a metal that is dynamic. It can change how it’s used. It’s not a liquid, but it has the ability to change shape and change form and still have its strength. I think there a lot of things about that in the mythology that I think has a lot of potential in terms of the storytelling… It’s not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It’s not just like you hit it and it doesn’t take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack. That’s part of the power."
and then seeing something like this a few days back

And then seeing how bad ass his suit was on film a few hours back...

Fantastic times we're in.
Seems like Boseman Coates and (assuming) Coogler are very aware of how bad ass T'Challa's suit can be... i'd be hyped if force-push was comin to a solo bp movie near you hahhah

Cap and Natasha are NOT going to happen, no matter how much fans try to will it into existence. Marvel is heading towards Steve and Sharon being a thing.
What's funny is people swore up and down that Natasha and Clint were going to be a thing before Winter Soldier. It's like people can't grasp that men and women can have close platonic relationships, everything is immediately interpreted as someone being in love with someone else.

Cool cover! Really like that art :).
I wonder how much interaction we might see with Spidey and Panther in the MCU, if any. Or Spider-Man with any of The Avengers aside from Iron Man. Kinda the same boat with Panther.

Doesn't matter either way, and its not at all about wanting to wilm it into existence, if they have him send uo with Sharon then they do it, I'm just saying the sublte chemistry in WS and how well they played off each other they wouldn't be a bad match up.
And unless they do it right with Cap and Sharon it would just end up like Natasha and Bruce, a forced looking love interest that just kinda comes out of nowhere and is just kinda meh when it ends. As for Natasha and Clint thatvwad very obvious they were just friends, no vibe that they were more then that whatsoever.

ding ding ding
Natasha being a flirt is kind of one of her super powers. She manipulates people. It is what she does. She flirted with Banner a bit in Avengers, she manipulated Loki in giving up his plan, and she was just being a nosy flirt with Cap in WS. I never once got a "they gonna bang" vibe in WS.
AoU may have been kind of forced, but they had a weird thign in Avengers going on (widow was deeply afraid of him, which might be a new feeling for her) and she was the only one that could tame the monster with her lulluby. I could buy them getting close because of that (how many times would that have to be rehearsed?) more than I could buy Widow/Steve in Ws.

Steve and Natasha worked great in part because their relationship didn't go the cliched route, even though there plenty of room to go there. It was a great example of how the male and female lead can show great chemistry together without being each others love interest.
Def a highlight of Cap: Winter Soldier.

Since it's the same directors involved, i think the Steve/Sharon thing will be done very tactful as well and will similarly be subtle background noise behind all the primary plot stuff going on, just like it was with Natasha/Steve (which was pretty obvious to me the rom-trope they were going for there). They did a little set up for him and Sharon early on in TWS as well (even if, like BW, it was staged acting on her part and i think ticked him off upon the reveal), so it'll be an easy continuation point to build off of that.
Granted i'll be focused on more important things in the CW movie than any of that lol but credit is due to how the directors have handled these relationships

I tweeted about it earlier, but I have like just my friends as followers and rarely get retweets so there's just one sad little request out there for someone to make it happen with like two "hearts".
Which brings me to my next point: Don't heart stuff on twitter! People want retweets, no one gives a #### about hearts. Save that for facebook.
