Ugh Another person picked up by Coates... Hopefully he is more like Rembert and Less like Gay, Coates, or Harvey... Can we get a real writer on the books who want to elevate T'Challa and have the no how to do it? Rather then these peeps wanting to dip their feet into comics using BP as their throwaway?
We'll see if they learned their lesson from WoW and Crew.
We'll see what type of support Marvel gives this book, with how good or shitty the artist is.
This journalist guy claims he's been a big BP fan since he was a kid.
We gon see!
The problem is that they are wanting to line up with Coates Drek and not Priest or Hudlins.. You know the ones the MCU BP is based around. If anything it could be a continuation of Hudlins WoTBP and take place right after that. I would love to be proven wrong though, I would be happy to look forward to two out of 3 BP books out.. But i know better
Cooley has actually stated that Coates is an influence, and that Coates is his favorite writer. But I'm sure Cooley like any writer will look at Priests stuff first and foremost.
But having the Year One book line up with the present book just makes sense. Obviously they are sharing shelf space togethet. Beyond that there's a certain symmetry in going back and looking at T'Chalas formative years ruling Wakanda in contrast to him building a new government and him creating a galactic empire.
Any cool tidbit you can tell me about the series without Marvel’s legal department a reason to look for you?
Narcisse: I want to show a little window of how Wakandan technology has evolved over the decades. There may or may not be giant Panther mechs by the time this is all done.

Seriously, how excited are you to basically be creating Black Panther’s formative years?
Narcisse: Man, I can’t overstate how excited I am to writing this particular storyline. The Black Panther has always been my favorite superhero character. The first issue focuses on a character that I’ve wondered about for ages as a fan and now I get to be the one to breathe life into that persona.
I will give it a chance, He atleast mentioned being a Fan of BP from the get go (Unlike Coates who had to go through a few interviews before he would say something like that, and even then it was litter with, "I don't like this" or "I cant wrap my head around that".
Maybe he might pull a Rembert and surpise

Yes and that influence form Coates has been from Aesthetics only, Mainly Slelfreeze (Can't blame then, Stelfreeze has soem beautiful art) But the rest has been Heavily drawn from Priest and some from Hudlin. He may have said he is his favorite writer, but he said nothing about him being his favorite BP writer. Not the same thing at all.

I like all the writers Coates has recruited (especially Coates), when they write in their lane, so I'm still willing to see what they offer. Rembert Browne really should have gotten some extra issues though.

I honestly don't recall Coogler saying Coates was an influence in aesthetics only ... I just recall an interview saying he was absolutely an influence. If you read a different interview where he specifically cited Coates as only as aesthetic influence feel free to share.

Speaking too much common sense breh. lol
Just because Coogler already stated the movie pulls largely from Priest, and just bits and pieces from other runs, doesn't mean that's going to stop the same ol people from using the same ol narrative.
The same ol narrative will be said 3 months from now and you'll correct them again for the umpteenth time, 3 months from now. Just like you did 3 months ago.

100% would of been done for a Kasper mini. He should of been given that to expand upon Kevins new role. Hugely missed opportunity. That last issue got good reviews, unlike Gays garbage.
Bur Yea he should of had a 6-12 issue mini to see how well it would do, have Kevin interacting quite a bit with T'Challa as he gives him "Missions" and even accompanies him as well to help further his training. Such a waste...

I'll give it a chance, off of this alone.
Well, and the claim that he's been a big BP fan since he was a kid. Which, given his age (that I can't discern) can either be a good thing (Priest) or a bad thing (McGregor) lol.
So I'll give it the first issue to see what type of voice and vibe he gives T'Challa.

It was, Basically, None of them know anything about Black Panther one of the guys had a better idea then the rest but Ultimately, if they did do the DB with those two, they would likely undercut T'Challa heavily even though he would wipe the floor with Bats

And the new guy is a fan of Priests run! That alone put all my fears to rest.

It was, last week or so.
I had a rant about how and why BP would kick Batman's pansy butt, and how silly it is to start claiming feats for Batman like giving him a lightsaber that he pulled from his belt in a one-off looney toons style cartoon episode of batman brave and the bold; i.e. if that's the level of desperation needed to give BM a means to get past BP's suit, then that already tells you who the winner should be. None of them were very versed on BP's history though (never read a book) but the guy with the mask seemed to comprehend that BP would win even though he couldn't articulate the finer details of BP's suit and offensive arsenal. They pretty much all thought BP just has claws and a suit but they gon learn if/when they ever due a death battle and have to actually research the character.
