In terms of weapons, there is nothing wrong with conventional weapons. I'm not sure every Wakandan would have a laser-spear of awesomeness. But Shuri, T'challa and named characters should have some special weapons. Imho, it should be no different then one of my favorite war game settings--Warhammer 40k. They have conventional swords, spears, axes, but then they also have stuff like power-swords, axes and spears, etc (anti-matter) and force-weapons (reality-physic-rending weapons where a psyker can focus his powers).
There is no reason why Wakanda couldn't have:
a) Something similar to power weapons, using shadow physics and vibranium. In fact, T'challa' current daggers are pretty much the same concept. Also see Thor 2 and the weapon there.
b) The Black Panthers should be able to focus their "spirit" into certain ancestral weapons.
c) Conventional soldiers and warriors should be armed with regular weapons (meaning our real life special forces styled weapons).
Elites though, should have the full spectrum of what it means to be a Wakandan elite warrior.
On another note, the T'challa is the richest man was hilarious. It just never ceases, with detractors running to down play anything positive said about he character.

Interesting thread on the Man-Ape topic...

Anywho...
The problem with sci-fi warfare is that the suspension of belief would have have us to believe not a single stormtrooper or Ewok would have the nerve to have at least a light saber dagger as a backup weapon in the same manner that a soldier would have a bayonet in case he ran out of ammunition!
Star Wars does not seem to have a law that forbids a random person having a light saber type weapon even if it were just for hunting!
If the soldier or Jedi on your right flank fell in battle there should be no reason that you would not appropriate their weapon and keep on fighting which means that it should not be out of the question of them allowing you to borrow it or make another version for you!
If any Wakandan soldiers have better weapons available then why would not another soldier adopt these weapons as standard issue?
If I see you over there with infra-red vision goggles, an automatic assault laser rifle and a Shadow Physics teleportation devices you can take this un-reloadable spear and shove it where the sun don't shine and you need to share the wealth of weaponry you 500 billion dollar uppity super hero you! Lol
Unless of course the spear could be used like a light saber to block projectiles aimed your way but once you throw it at someone that ends that conflict on your behalf right then and there and you are basically naked on the field of battle!
A decent assault rifle like an AK-47 shoots at least 90 rounds per minute and can be reloaded in seconds click clack... A spear shoots one round per however hard you can toss it and takes however fast you can run the distance to retrieve it so stretch out and warm up first before you hurl it callously!
A spear is best left for when Black Panther fights a super villain one on one in close quarters but not too close that it gets stuck in a narrow hallway harharhar!

Flex, isn't the picture we are talking about involve the White Gorilla tribe and not Wakanda?
Last time I remember seeing Wakanda's army, they all had guns.
-
What exactly are those spears made of and do they return to the wielder once they are thrown like Thor's hammer or do they just stick in perpetual impalement?
Are you asking for a boomerang spear? Wakandans haven't been shown to have those, but I have to say, that would be quite cool.

Boomerang spears sound dangerous as heck. You better have expert timing to catch one of those helicoptering through the air back to you.

I agree I want to see one now.

To this day people are still asking Tom Brevoort if Black Panther is connected to the Black Panther Party, so Marvel Entertainment is probably going to put their company name in the movie title to avoid any confusion, just like they did with their Avengers movie to avoid confusion with the 1960s "The Avengers" series about John Steed and Emma Peel...not to mention the "The Avengers" movie that came out in the late 90s starring Sean Connery, Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman that was based on the TV series.
Plus if the movie is called "The Black Panther", some people (not necessarily people who have a problem with the Black Panther Party) might assume it is about the Black Panther Party (I wouldn't be surprised if people stretched that title and assume the word "Party" was left off the movie title.
"Panther", the 1995 movie about the Black Panther Party...I'm not sure if the general public would think a movie called "The Black Panther" was connected to the "Panther" film in some way.

I really like the way Aaron is writing BP in Original Sin.

Way better than how he's writing Bucky, ROFL.
(I'm sure there's a reason for that, but still.)

I think the "Marvel Studios" logo that precedes every trailer and film would make people realize it's a comic book film.

Yeah that was weird
Part two of Don Mcgregor's Marvel.com interview
http://marvel.com/news/comics/2014/6/4/22621/path_of_the_black_panther_a_retrospective_pt_2
I've never read Panther's quest has it been collected or on Marvel Unlimited?

Panther's Quest would make a perfect, Black Panther 2 (movie) or even a intro movie if they introduced him first in the Avengers.
So uh, Black Panther was somewhat featured in another X-Men issue.
Dickey's Storm mini got retconned. The Storm/BP first meeting is back to how Claremont wrote it I believe.
If this is the book you're refering to, I see the trolling continues unabated. :smh:

I had seen that as another example of Marvel trying to drive yet another wedge between a black man and a black woman. And I see this as another opportunity to speak directly TO Marvel about it...and Mike Marts, because he is now a part of this (unless this script was approved by Nick Lowe before his departure from the X-Office). They'll be hearing from me on this issue (literally and figuratively). I'm about to head over to the comic shop in a few minutes to see if there's anything else in that issue that I need to discuss with Marvel Entertainment.
On an unrelated note, judging from what we saw of T'Challa in "Black Panther: Man Without Fear" and "Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive", would you all say that T'Challa has skills like MacGyver? (can make a weapon out of almost anything/can escape situations using items in ways which people would not normally think they could be used in)?
