The reality is those topics appear to be very relevant to the plot of the Coates run, to the point that they may help shape what kind of government Wakanda may have when it's all over.
There is literally no way Coates could have avoided addressing many of the topics that were left in the wake of Hickman's handling of T'Challa and Wakanda, so I'm genuinely pleased to see that his reputation for being a writer of integrity is justified in this regard
Only an errant fool or one satisfied with mediocre literary offerings would have expected him to do less.
As others previously mentioned, Coates has a great opportunity to address those issues directly, and it appears he'll do just that. Assuming he does, it will help bring some closure to those topics, and possibly elevate T'Challa and the BP franchise to new heights along the way.
I'm not sure about Coates bringing "closure" to anything if the whole concept of T'Challa retconning himself back onto the Wakanda throne is not addressed properly but I'm sure Brian Stelfreeze's awesome art will be more than enough of a distraction for some who like to take potshots from the inconsequential shadows.

That issue in particular is one the main questions I have concerning this run, but I'll def give Coates a chance to tackle that as well. Hopefully we get a well thought out and satisfactory explanation for it.

Given what we have seen from the BP Preview, Its very clear that just because T'Challa used the Gem to go back in time, doesn't at all mean that he just reset everything and made himself king and everything is now peachy. Coates really did his homework and and really driving the BP mythos into a form on continuity, He addresses what happened to T'Challa and Wakanda in NA,TRO,SW and he even has the Wakandan people calling him the Orphaned King, and Wakandan's remember what happened. So it may be safe to speculate maybe Shuri might be a little sour with T'Challa making himself king again after resetting the MCU.
My question though is who is this new royal guard that is following T"challa with the lightning spears?
Also T'Challa force push is looking awesome. I really hope that becomes standard tech thats part of his habit. If Coates utilizes his energy daggers in this run we may see Jedi Master T'Challa

Well, as Coates hasn't indicated whether Shuri actually appears in the new BP book, it remains to be seen how this particular issue is handled.
But one things for sure, some of these writers do seem to have a penchant for giving T'Challa new titles.
First it was "King of the Dead" now it's "Orphaned King" which leaves me wondering what Reach'Challa''s next nom de plume will be?
King of the Throne Snatchers, perchance?

I'd rather see a Black Panther portrayed in a manner that indicates Wakandan technology and mysticism to full effect as opposed to tropes and concepts borrowed from other franchises.

When it comes to stomping out Wakandans no one does it better than T'Challa.
Pity he was never portrayed doing the same to Proxima Midnight or her husband, Corvus Glaive.

I dunno, you might have become the new master of shadow physics.
-
And your point is what exactly?
Pre-Doomwar, T'Challa set off with a retinue of loyal Dora Milaje's to meet up with Namor on a remote island.
He told no one in his trusted inner circle such as Ororo, Shuri, Uncle Syan or his mother Ramonda.
What kind of a responsible monarch does something as stupid as this?
Furthemore, T'Challa's obssessive level of secrecy threw Wakanda into turmoil following Doom's nearly successful attempt on the Wakandan monarchs life especially as Doom was able to exploit T'Challa's tactical blunder to first, engineer an assault on Namor by Shuri before moving on to neutralizing Ororo within Wakanda thus paving the way for the rise of the Desturi.
The fact that following Shuri's victory over Morlun, she eventually became the ruling Black Panther, in no way alters the fact that T'Challa was the primary facilitator of all of Wakanda's woes leading on from the aftermath of Doomwar/AvX all the way through to Everything Dies/Time Runs Out/Secret Wars II.
But somehow in your reasoning because some of these things happened while Shuri was Queen of Wakanda this has relevance how?
If a Queen is undermined at every turn by her own brothers stupid actions and arbitary decisions, how exactly is that Shuri's fault?
I have no doubt in my mind that Coates is a phenomenal writer whse prose will be backed by Stelfrezes's awesome artwork, but lets not pretend that T'Challa's use of Infinity Gems to maneuver himself back onto the Wakandan is a straight up punk move that marks him out as being anything but suitable to rule Wakanda.
Excellent points as always..

I hope we actually get some honest to goodness costumed super villians somewhere in all of this.
Maybe Morlun will show up again....
I dunno, you might have become the new master of shadow physics.
I'm just a humble bringer of........chaos.
And speaking of Shadow Physics, just imagine how much cooler it would have been if the spear Queen Shuri tagged Proxima Midnight with had been a Shadow particle edged one as opposed to just wood and steel.
Shadow Physics and the related weapons, are probably the best (and only) contributions Jonathan Maberry brought to the BP mythos.

I doubt she is gone, Coates mentioned Uncle S'yan in his run, If he is going to pull characters from hudlin's i have little doubt Shuri won't pop up in here. She is a very important member in the bp mythos and part of the royal family.
Orphan King makes sense though showing they aren't to thrilled with him at the moment. Again i have little doubt Shuri will be showing up in this story.
I wonder if its a new royal guard being added in, like a mystical guard. So there are the Dora's, the Hatute Zeraze and these new guys. Could be interesting.
As for the Force push that was more of a joke then anything, its obviously different from a force push because its a release of the vibration stored in the habit. Its still very interesting how he uses it, especially cool how his habit lights up

I want to see a story similar to Priests BP/Brother Voodoo/Moon Knight team up that really dives into Wakandan divinity and spirituality.
I want to see gods from the other tribes battle Bast for supremacy, stuff like that.

I am only going off the info i have seenand what he has provided. I feel confident in what he has said about it and the effort and research he is putting into making this good. Its too easy to scrap everything that happened in SW and pretend like everything is good and peachy and have it be some standard revolt that has been run several times, This one makes alot of sense because its in direct correlation with his actions in NA,TRO, SW and he isn't going to just sweep it under the rug. I think this story will have a very good outcome for BP mythos as a whole, and i truly hope Shuri gets put into a great position after all of this as well because she is a great character.

I wonder if the Last Days of Magic and the Death of Magic happening in Dr. Strange's book and SW book would have any effect on Wakanda.
Wasn't the power up post Doom ambush was done with part Magic right?

Yea i can't believe no one thought of it either. Too busy with other things i guess. They didn't want to add more gear, but replace things. I thought back awhile ago that it would be cool if he mixed Vibranium with Shadow physics to reverse the process and allow the vibranium to be useable again and after doing that it allowed it to "Repel" Vibrations but this is genius and im glad its being done

Well, that's really dependent on who's writing said mystical cat.
I went off of Bast just off of the way Maberry and Hickman wrote the deity.

I think Killmonger has the pet leopard part down with Preyy, but I'd be down with T'Challa having an A.I. robotic panther for certain espionage and combat situations. Just give the A.I. a heavy Russian accent...

I dont see BP as one to have a sidekick. I would much rather he use the Dora's and the Hatute to full affect (while also putting together a team consisting of Shuri, Sofia, QDJ, Vibraxas, Okeye, and maybe Kasper) so we can see some more high powered action from that rich vein of Unexplored Mythos
Out of curiousity, what would you see as being a "well thought out and satisfactory explanation" for T'Challa's actions at the eend of Secret Wars II?
Concerning T'Challa becoming King again, correct?
To be very honest...I don't know. I was able to come up with some scenarios but there's a lot of holes to fill for all of them. Some of them are outright cop outs.
1. The reality / time gem, while very effective, didn't work to perfection and some things got shifted or lost in translation somehow. In this timeline, Shuri was never a Queen. She might not have been a BP as well. This scenario creates the most amount of problems from a narrative standpoint, as we are left wondering if anything else has changed. It also affects the previous events, which appear to be relevant to the Coates run. I would be shocked if Coates (and editorial) goes that route.
2. During the 8 month gap, Shuri was either gravely injured or killed (similar to what happened to T'Challa). Thus, T'Challa is king again. This scenario is the cleanest one, but a hell of a cop out to me. I definitely hope Coates doesn't go that route.
3. Shuri, for whatever reason, steps down and thus T'Challa is King. The obvious question with this scenario is why would she step down in the first place. At the moment, I can't think of a reason why she would.
4. Shuri and T'Challa somehow decide to co-rule. T'Challa is King and Shuri is Queen. First question is why would they agree to co-ruling in the first place. More importantly, who has the final say? Who's in charge? What happens if they disagree? T'Challa and Shuri have different views on running the country, so this would cause quite some problems in the long term. I would be very surprised if they go that choice.
Perhaps Coates figured out an explanation that makes sense without relying on character death or drama between the two. We'll find out soon enough.
