Wow! What an issue! Doom getting involved is a long time coming but needed. Secondly, it was a hell of a swerve they had me thinking he'd just walk away from it all.
Please tell the rest of the vault!
...and give me the coded password and when you and the family are going to out of town. :)
I still think it will all get undone (I know they are saying it won't but come on... what are they supposed to say?)... BUT... if I am wrong I really, REALLY don't want Shuri to die. I hope (as we didn't see her die) she lived. She is the first black female solo star, the second most prominent black woman after Storm; and just a bad ass ruler. LIFE. LIFE. LIFE!
All Wakandan heads of stateare more or less immortal. She's probably going to rally th dead that turned their back on Tchalla

Ooooooooh, like Aragorn with the army of the dead? Very cool!

I like Shuri as well and I hope she lives. However, is she the 2nd most prominent black woman after Storm.? I figured Monica Rambeau or Misty Knight might take that position.
I did like seeing her and T'Challa working together, however brief it was and if she survives, I want the two of them to fight alongside one another more often.
I would love it if she uses her battle armor and energy blades to fight Proxima.

I'd place Shuri, Monica and Misty over Storm
Given recent events Shuri hasn't been written as just a basic default black chick character selection
I liked the latest NA issue( I don't believe Shuri is dead until I see a body next issue ) and it's gonna be one hell of a end game since the Cabal is living out a juggalo's dream, Namor is sweating like a just revealed snitch just released into general population in that state penn, Doom is set to turn all this to his advantage and the Illuminati will do something
Hickman is trying to go out with a bang

Can you go into more depth in regards to the bold and how Shuri hasn't been written as a "default black chick character selection"?

I agree. I liked the latest issue. I know Wakanda was destroyed but I don't think Shuri is dead either. I think the Cabal will try to use her as a bargaining chip against BP and the Illuminati. I also liked Namor's moment of realization that he just effed up royally. I'm not arguing that the Cabal destroying world isn't buying time but rather how they are going about doing it. What made him think that any of the Cabal would listen to him or see him as an equal? What made him think that he could control them? And Doom called him out on that perfectly.
And the world selling out Wakanda. I know a lot of people are upset but to the World leaders it was either the entire planet or Wakanda. Not trying to justify their actions but they were in a very tough spot. Now they'll have to deal with the consequences of their actions. I hope all of these points are covered over the remaining issues of Hickman's finale.

I totally and emphatically disagree that Misty, shuri, and Monica, are over storm as the most prominent black female. That is a complete and utter incorrect statement.
Now to Shuri dying, the odds were heavily stacked against her when Tchalla teleported to be with the illuminati. She may have other hiding wakandans come out to fight with her but I highly doubt cabal would use her as a bargaining chip as they dont come off like the bargaining type. I would imagine she is expendable to them. They currently (8 months in the future) have the illuminati on the run and I would think they know at this point at least they have the upper hand. Its sad to say but if shuri can't somehow get away or get some persons there to help her I dont see this turning out in her favor.
I was agreeing about liking the issue B/K.
Oh ok lol.. but wat about the latter part. Do you really think cabal would try to use her for that considering how they seem to revel in savagery?

I love how Hickman is making Doom the hero in all of his handling of him. Doom is a kickass hero because of his nobility and pride.

Yeah I think they would. They're still trying to flush out the Illuminati so having her as bait or a bargaining chip would be useful to them.

Sure even thought it's a complete derail and is more in gear with the Minority thread
Shuri hasn't been written as the default black chick character selection due to being written as actually doing something with her and that has been done through Hudlin, Liss and Hickman. Neither of those gentlemen has paid lip service and wrote her as just being there or rested on a previous writer's decades ago coat tails or flat out questionable stuff that when mentioned by fans gets shot down by others in a "don't rock the boat" manner, I don't subscribe to the thought that I have to see the other one as #1 just because folks want to go with the indoctrinated belief that she's #1 just cause that's all they want to know aka the default black chick. She ain't gotta do anything and anything can be done to her and it doesn't matter just as long as she's there and that's why "supposedly" she's better then all those other black female characters because she's the default
Terrax was great
"And then they kiss" lolololol
I also liked Maximus and his "puppet theater" with the bombs when T'Challa and Shuri ran into him

I can understand this post.
That's part of why I don't think Shuri isn't dead. She's grown a lot more since her "Angry Paris Hilton" days. There still more to do with her and I don't see them wasting that opportunity.

I'll be the first to tell you that during the Angry Paris Hilton days I was not a fan, did I want her killed off in the most brutal way........maybe
BUT efforts was made to move her beyond that and with each step I was not only won over but saw her just as worthy to wear the BP cowl just as much as her older brother, Shuri can and deserves to be another bridge to get folks to say "I wanna see what's going on over there"

I always liked Shuri, just not the way she was being portrayed. Liss did a great job of getting rid of that silly persona. I didn't want to see another supporting character lost in the BP mythos. There needs to be more added.
Maximus definitely was impressive with the puppet theater y'all
Dude had experience

That's definitely gonna be a tall task

I really do think that there is going to be some serious payback by T'Challa and the rest of the Ill.

I've been wanting to ask that question for the longest. :(
So I need a wee bit of help. What's a decent Black Panther story/issue/volume for a beginner? I don't know if this will be helpful but my first exposure to the character was the EMH show.

David Liss's run is easier to find and is fully collected, Priest's run is the deafacto must have but was never collected
Thanks for the quick reply. Now for Liss's run the collected issues are The Most Dangerous Man Alive, The Man Without Fear, and The Man Without Fear: Fear itself correct?
Thanks for the quick reply. Now for Liss's run the collected issues are The Most Dangerous Man Alive, The Man Without Fear, and The Man Without Fear: Fear itself correct?
Correct, though the order is The Man Without Fear, The Man Without Fear: Fear Itself, and The Most Dangerous Man alive.
For Priest's run, I recommend just going with Marvel Unlimited or picking up the singles if you can find them. There are two trades, but both are out of print so it depends on what your LCS has.
Thanks for all the help. Now for some odd reason Comixology doesn't seem to have any of these so I'm off to Amazon.
