That would be a really interesting take. Sort of a Captain Britain style of power that compels T'Challa to remain at home where he is "supposed to be." So that when he ventures out his powers begin to diminish and have him need to come home to re-power himself. It would also introduce creative ways for villains to try and lure him out or for T'Challa to try and lure them in.
Don't go that route. Having T'Challa getting weak outside of Wakanda would make him a joke(Aqua man from the 70s-00s).
His power levels should be consistent no matter where he's at.

I think Boseman was the only one who took the question semi-seriously. Everyone else seemed to base their answers on how cute or how funny or how cool their costume looked. They treated it more like a blind date question. Not that these things were supposed to be taken seriously I suppose....
Make storm a literal god that hangs around Wakanda: not a peep
Even think about giving Panther an ounce more strength: whoa whoa whoa whoa let's not make him Superman.
The other thing I wanted from KotD was a literal power up the closer he got to Necropolis. ie... if you fought T'challa in Necroplis, dude is well past spider-man. farther ou got awway, closer to baseline he got.
But anywho, T'challa's issues were and are not strength related. They are a lack of imagination from his primary writers.
Part of the fun of taking a comic book peak human character who fights above his weight class is that you get fun stuff like SWaD. Where T'challa uses his tactical brain and martial arts ability combined with his CBPH stats to take out people "above" him. It is cool.
Batman is allowed to do shit like:

(yes, he OHKO'd solomon grundy....)

(yes, he literally hit a Speedster)
Nobody blinks! That shit is cool! I want more!!!!!!!
Mention Black Panther doing a little more and its "whoa whoa whoa let's not get too crazy here."
And then you get relegated to throwing a spear every once in awhile and using other people to beat your villains.
It's silver surfer arm bar all over again. The minute Tchalla does something that other heroes do on the regular, the excuses start flying. I mean shit we just had 18 pages of people arguing why it's okay for storm to beat adversary but for Tchalla it's not realistic and it's above him. Coates "realism" has such a strong hold that now in his own damn book he is getting shackled by bullshit and gets praised for it.
Just write Panther as a top 10 genius, top ten martial artist, chess playing, pokerface, prep beast, warrior king with access to a super metal and i don't need any power ups.
Just write the damn character!
If Batman can do shit like that, Murdock can do all the ridiculous stuff he does, Cap can do all the stuff he does, ect ect ect then Panther should be able to too!
The character, as presented by Coates, would be better off sitting in his palace and telling other more capable people to do shit for him.
"Hey shuri, we have some bad guys on the border, go fly over then and take care of it for me with your stone/bird/zombie/super speed/high level martial artist power please."
"hey storm, we have a possible super being in birnin who-gives-a-shit... we need a god blast pronto. i'll start the prayer circle"
"hey eden, the Wakanda bus system is down again, I need you to teleport 30 people from the river lands to the alkama fields please"
"yo chang, can you lead us in a nation wide prayer today? k thanks"
"THUNDERBALL! my dude, i know you are a bad guy and all but can you take this super science stuff and go teach our people please? thanks! be good!"
"MA! how is you new home? Do you need some more territory? If so, just go ahead and kill the people living there and take it. I'll pardon you later."
"HODARI! bring me lunch bitch!"
"Kasper, i got some detective work for you. Can you try and find Taku and Ngassi? I miss those dudes. I think they are lsot int he technojungle somewhere"
Oh my sweet bast I laughed harder at this then I should of.
Naw F all that weakening stuff lol.
T'challa is still normal Black Panther... he just gets stronger the closer he gets to his "home." Bast increases his abilities to defend Wakanda based on how the world is getting more and more dangerous.
Ain't no weakening happening here!
Okay, this would definitely be the best alternative if they're going to do any power adjustments.

Like most things, it's a matter of execution. I'm sure if Storm had beaten Adversary with an arm bar plenty of people would be rolling their eyes about that too.
There are viable ways for a Batman or a Black Panther to beat characters well above their power grade. It can be done. Both have been doing it for decades. But sometimes it's done in a believable way and sometimes it's not.
I do dispute the notion that nobody blinks when Batman does something over the top. I'm not even a DC guy and I've seen my share of Batgod complaints. Again though, he's an A lister... plot armor can come with the territory.

I don't mean weak, but back to "Black Panther" levels of power. That way he can operate as he always has in America, but at home he can deal with things differently. Though you're right it would invite ridicule I think it would fit with the whole "Protector of Wakanda" theme, because Bast might not be as interested in giving T'Challa power to hang out in America when he's supposed to be home.

That's what I meant. That he just gets a bigger boost at home. Abroad he'd be "regular" Black Panther.
I -really- should have worded that better. lol

Wow, that is actually a perfect example.
Yes, I consider the Arm Bar ridiculous, no matter McDuffie's meaning.
But, for BatGod, it becomes a "couple forums go, 'oh come on, this is ridiculous,' laugh about it, and move on in 2 days."
But, for BP, it becomes, "omg T'challa is a mary sue" and gets posted bimontly on various websites.
I may actually agree with kareem/goku/blacksonic for once....

That's the thing... this stuff doesn't last long if everyone pretty much concludes it's ridiculous and move on. These things drag out when people defend it, and everyone spend their time arguing about it long after the issue came and went.
It's like Civil War... if everyone agreed with Cap, people wouldn't have been arguing about that years later. But because Stark had his share of defenders it becomes a matter of posters arguing with each other than just the comic, and that gives something life.
I will say when JLA Confidential came out and Batman KOed Wonder Woman with a kick to the gut, that convo went at least a couple weeks (I know because I was one of the people complaining about it). But yeah, it didn't go quite as viral as the T'CHalla thing. Not sure why... I guess it's possible it's racism. But sometimes certain things get more life than others. The "go to" example of jobbing on Rumble Boards at least was Spider-Man vs Firelord, but personally I have always thought there were more extreme examples in comics than that since Firelord at class 70 strength is only 7 times stronger than Spider-Man. That's a lot... but Spidey regularly fights Sandman who is stronger than that. BUt for whatever reason Spidey vs Firelord went more viral. Same thing happened with the arm bar.

Yeah, as long as he doesn't get weaker for leaving Wakanda, that's cool.
That's what should have happened with the KotD powers.
If you combine that with Shadow Physics, it should give him a limited power up of summoning a ghost army even if he isn't in Wakanda.

The rumble board doesn't even know the characters they are discussing 9/10 of the time. You just have some people that have greater influence from posting there habitually that dictate the terms of every thing.
They were arguing that T'challa's suit was just cloth YEARS after vibranium was restored.
I'll never forget the stupid ass Spider-Woman would curb Black Panther nonsense there.

The difference is with SMvsFL... it got laughed at and moved on. Just like BatGod stuff.
With T'challa, it turned into a "he is a mary sue" level of discussion. Despite no one reading the issue and mssing the fact that Surfer was just fine lol.
Ain't no one calling Spidey a mary sue despite being a super powered genius who dates super models and has precog and sticks to walls lol.
Yet, Miles shocks one too many people and here comes the complaints.
