So does anyone think what happened to Wakanda in Infinity Wars might be the source of a future conflict with M'Baku in future?
I think it would be lazy and nonsensical.
M'baku and the rest of Wakanda (and the world) found out what happens if they failed.
It wasn't like T'challa was making **** up lol. They found out the worst case scenario.
Plus, T'challa needs a bro. Dude has no Wakandan bros in the comics at all.
Spider-Man's scenes were really all about Iron Man.
They set up Tony dreaming about fatherhood and Homecoming set him up in a surrogate father role. Additionally, Spider-Man died in Tony's arms, that mirrored the scene in Homecoming where Spider-Man thought he was going to hug him and Tony opened the door and told him to get out of the car.
Spider-man got some licks in but as a character he didn't really get development at all. If he were a woman they'd have said he was fridged.
and Strange had a stone. Same reason Vision got so much screen time.
Plus Strange is one of the few people who could theoretically go toe-to-toe with Thanos.

M'Baku needs to become an ant-hero in 616. Maybe he can be on the Thunderbolts occasionally.

I'll be really curious to see if this space empire M'baku and Nakia are 616 or alternate reality.
Mbaku was supposed to be T'challa's bro back in the day but there is really no evidence of that anywhere besides T'challa lettinng him sit on the throne a bit while he Luke Charles it up and the fact he got a wedding invite.
They had no problem giving it to Spidey and strange. T'Challa didn't even get to interact with the other avengers. Idk it feels like the writers needed a battleground and wakandan redshirts while the other 2 new solo film stars were having Dragonball Z fights. I guess something had to give and tchalla drew the short straw but the Avenger writers comments on decisions made and who they "think" got a sizable role and their involvement or lack thereof in Avengers 4 irks me. If they think they gave T'Challa a sizable role, they're sorely mistaken.
Sure they have Strange some time (which sort of makes sense since he had a stone). But again, you can't give EVERYONE sizable time. Not with two dozen heroes in 2-3 hour movie. It's simply not possible. Some heroes will get more than others, but not everyone will get sizable panel time. It's simply not possible. For every one that does, six won't. That's just how it is.

They should let Narcisse do another "gap year" book. This one could pick up after T'challa and Storm's first meeting and chronicle his adventures as a youth. Just have it be him and M'baku running around in cloth masks like Man Without Fear Daredevil.

Well if not M'Baku maybe some members of his tribe or other Wakandans.
Pretty sure W'Kabi fits that role in the movie.
So does anyone think what happened to Wakanda in Infinity Wars might be the source of a future conflict with M'Baku in future?
Potentially.
[spoil]I think a big factor of whether it might or not might depend on how big a time gap exists between Avengers 3 and 4, and who they put in charge while T'Challa is dead. If M'Baku ends up running Wakanda while T'Challa is away, he might not be thrilled to give that power up when T'CHalla returns. [/spoil]

What's more interesting about Wakanda's position is depending on how long it takes to reverse the Infinity wipe Wakanda will be wholly without a Black Panther for the first time in history thanks to Killmonger.
That said, I don't want the BP sequel to be another struggle for leadership. I'd prefer to see the next film deal with a more international stage or be deeply focused on the spiritual aspects of Black Panther.

Without the ability to create another Black Panther, I suppose that could leave the door open for M'Baku to get powered up by the age god similar to how he was in the comics. That could be a mix of leadership and spiritual struggle.

I think both of those would work well and I think you bring in Achebe as a charlatan (empowered by Mephisto). Especially without the HSH he can start leading Wakandans to question Bast and the necessity of a Black Panther all together.

In my fan fic head, I could see the movie opening with this dude...

jumping T'challa while he is in the States/Kenya/insert country on an outreach mission in an attempt to assassinate him. After T'challa kills him, he just vaporizing, indicating the dude was mystical in nature.
"The Fabled Death Tiger he is real. but how? "
(since coogler can't use Kraven)
with the **** leading back to Achebe/Mephisto
Now i'm just making up **** lol
Another deleted scene

Confirms what most of us initially thought.
I can see this being cut though. Doesn't really add much to the movie. It isn't as necessary as the Wkabi/Okoye scene.
We already got that T'challa revered his father from CW and the spirit scene. And we had enough conversations about the outside world from Nakia and W'kabi.

IW writers talking about why they did what they did with Panther in IW
[spoil]During a recent interview, screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus weighed in on the decision to kill off the King of Wakanda and the former made it clear that their decision came long before Black Panther's solo movie ended up being such a massive critical and commercial hit.
"First of all, we would do it all over again," he explained. "But remember, when we’re writing [Infinity War], and even shooting, there is no Black Panther movie. We don’t know it’s going to be so good, so effective, so resonant. And we had to treat all these characters the same. People who leave us [in Infinity War] are the leads of their own franchises. And Black Panther’s no different."
"We wanted that thing that happens at the end of that movie to have as much impact as possible," he added. "If you’re very carefully getting rid of your supporting cast, then it does seem like you’re pulling your punch."[/spoil]
