I'm not ignoring continuity, because continuity doesn't do a very good job of showcasing their spiritual advancement.
If they were so spiritually advanced, they wouldn't need the Doras in the first place. Under Priests run the tribes were on the verge of war, requiring them to take a group of young teenage girls acting as political pawns to maintain the peace. I'm sorry, but that hardly screams spiritual advancement. .
Minor correction.
Under Priest, the Dora were an old custom that had fallen out of use. T'Challa revived the tradition to pacify the traditionalists who were upset with his massive influx of technology.
The later conflict that came from the Doras was as a result of Malice's actions, an ongoing wound on the honor of her tribe.
I really wish people would remember that under Priest, there were all of two Dora (Not counting Queenie), not a God damn army.

What Coates is doing is essentially what McGregor did before him when Wakanda had drug problems... it showed that Wakandans are people too. They have the same problems, and they made the same mistakes. As jarring as it may be to you that Wakandans aren't better than everyone else, I'm afraid it's simply something you're going to need to get used to.
And frankly there's nothing wrong with Wakanda actually being potrayed as people who have the same problems everyone else has. It's just common sense that they would. We've already seem crime and drugs existing in their culture. We all agree that Wakanda is not supposed to be utopia... this is what that means. It means they are human beings. It means they have faults. Just like everyone else.
See Hudlin's run. Spiritually advanced. But keep making excuses
This old song and dance is tiring Xpac. Yeah, the scene in Hudlins run where Wakandans say they are spiritually advanced, right before revealing they are withholding the cure for cancer from the world. Yeah, that's certainly convincing.
Hudlins run shows that they believe they are spiritually advanced. But that's their own opinion of themselves. Talk is cheap. Again, they have all the same problems that the rest of the world have. That's cannon. There is crime. There is drugs. There is kidnapping. There is murder. And now we know there is human trafficking. Again, Wakandans are human beings just like everyone else. To hold onto the belief that they're somehow better than everyone else on earth is just you setting yourself up for disappointment because it will be disproven again and again and again. It's a comic book. Having these sort of problems and faults are inevitable. But more to the point it's OKAY for them to have these sort of faults. Again, they're human beings. That's normal. We shouldn't expect them not to.

Things must have gotten pretty bad in Wakanda between Priest and Hudlins run, because all of a sudden they did seem to need a whole lot more Doras for whatever reason. It is sort of funny how much the Dora thing expanded over the years. T'Challa really ramped it up off panel.

More like he expanded it to include all villages to serve in special ops. As he had them while married too.

It was never bad or ramped up under Priest. Both Doras were being trained, behind the scenes.
Things only got bad when Malice went rogue, and T'Challa seemed unwilling to address the issue.
Under Hudlin, the entire thing was flanderized.

Yep. But that was retconned with many other things when Reginald Hudlin reinvented the character.

We didn't know there was more than two until he was in recovery? Right before Doomwar when Mayberry started giving input?

Yeah, I wasn't saying things were ramped up under Priest... I was saying they were ramped up between Priest and Hudlin since the Doras numbers obviously grew between the runs for whatever reason.

Oh man you are really reaching here man. It's pretty comical your "excuses" yes Wakanda is not spiritually advanced because they are with holding the cure for cancer, nevermind the fact that they have been constantly invaded by other countries (unsuccessfully of course) and then when they do decide to involve themselves with the rest of the world, their first encounter with out delegates their king is assassinated and the rest of the other countries not only say nothing, one of then helps Klaw escape and hides him from Wakanda, but they are the jerks for not sharing.. You know that at those types of summits are for trading resources so they could of offered it.. But your right Wakandans are jerks Because of not sharing...

I understand their reasons for not sharing.
But frankly yes, I think they're being jerks by not doing it. Your arguments defending them for withholding the cure for cancer are the excuses. If there's a cure for cancer, then there is a moral responsibility to get it out in the world to help the people suffering from it. Period.
And I'll say the same thing for the western world, which is likewise withholding the cure for cancer. Osborn had it in dark reign, so the US is withholding it too.
People who withhold the cure for cancer are jerks.
