I would remind T'Challa fans that he had multiple solos, most of which at the beginning were not commercial successes. He gained popularity when Marvel took A-Lister Storm and put her in his book and since then, he's been even more prominent. So you could perhaps say that the success he is riding today is all owed because of Storm, or at least partly. Funny how you would bite the hand that feeds you by not allowing Storm some prominence now when her character is in need of it. I would argue that T'Challa fans should be prostrating themselves to her after what she did to raise his status.
This is why even former fans of the union don’t want Panther and Storm back together again. Ludicrous drivel like this.
I see no lies with this post.
the reason some storm fans were initially upset with the marriage is because they felt hudlin was trying to use storms star power to raise blsck Panthers popularity. whether fans of his agree with him that was what some argued then. so now it's funny how fans are talking about storm fans trying to leech off him when his movie has yet to even come out. I want them together because I would love to see two prominent blsck characters on the big screen reinforcing black love. that's the only leeching I want. in all honesty storm has the stories and the power to do well on her own if a movie was made based upon Chris Claremont version of her, so people shouldn't getvthst misconstrued.
Then they should go give her a solo movie of her own.
I'm sure her stellar "A-list" status would guarantee her blockbuster success akin to that of the solidly A-list proven grandeur of DC's Wonder Woman.
I've been posting long enough in combined BP Appreciation Threads dating back to PRE-CBR reboot days to know how supportive practally ALL BP enthusiasts were of Hudlin following through on the Claremont inspired relationship between the two characters.
I also clearly remember the amount of pushback against the idea that many X-fans and writers from the X-Office, engaged in for the six years the marriage endured, with vile accusations that Reginald Hudlin was supposedly a "racist" for marrying the Royal Couple just because they're both African.
This continued throughout the marriage up until the well documented events in AvX and persisted beyond that disgraceful event up until now, with Coates opening up old wounds by having T'Challa pining for someone who physically assaulted him before throwing her wedding ring into the dust at T'Challa's feet before bailing with the X-men/terrorist strike force she led onto Wakandan soil with ZERO authority due to the fact that she was no longer Queen of Wakanda at the time.
All of the above negative interactions between Storm and T'Challa during that period, were written by X-writers and other writers angling to make the transition to writing duties in the X-Office at the BP mythos expense such as Brian Michael Bendis and Jason Aaron and now Coates a self confessed X-fan, has furthered that same self serving agenda by doing exactly the same thing.
Namely trashing T'Challa and Wakanda in favour of his pet characters whilst using what should ostensibly be T'Challa's solo title as a means to secure a writing gig with the X-Office as evidenced by his being named as the writer for the proposed second attempt at launching a viable Storm solo book.
The fact that Coates has used the BP solo to write a truly stellar and fully in character Storm to such a degree that he's snagged writing duties on the aforementioned next Storm solo book makes his substandard writing of T'Challa and wholesale Boko Haramization of Wakanda all the more odious but I digress.
T'Challa has been consistently short-changed by a plethora of writers post Priest, Hudlin and Liss and was more or less not even considered for the Big Screen during Ike Perlmuter's tenure but now that his star is fully ascendant in Hollywood some of the selfsame individuals who disrespected the BP mythos with reckless abandon whilst celebrating the fail most of their favourite writers wrote into the characters continuity, all of a sudden, want to use his hard won momentum to elevate their favoured character out of the pit of mediocrity that her own writers and fair weather "fans" cast her into?
Funny how that works out.

Before I go any further let me be clear: I am a Storm fan.
With that said, WHAT THE F...? C'mon Jean, be serious here and stop the nonsense. Storm is a compelling character and deserves a helluva lot more than she gets from the X-verse. But she in no way, shape or form had anything to do with BP's rise in popularity. How could she propel him when she can't carry her own solo and was invisible in 5 X-Men movies? This ain't hatin', this is speaking truth.
BP owes his popularity to guys like Christopher Priest and Reggie Hudlin who took him back to his roots as laid out by Jack and Stan. David Liss also deserves props for continuing that legacy.
Any arguments to the contrary is disingenuous and really boils down to this:

Every series Black Panther had has been more successful than any Storm series.
The series that started in 2005 was scheduled as an out of continuity limited series. It sold so well Marvel asked the author, Reginald Hudlin, to make it an ongoing series. Storm was not involved in anyway in the initial, high selling, story arc.
When it was decided that the series was to continue, the next story arc was a crossover with the X-men and ends with Storm kissing T'Challa before she leaves back to wherever the fuck the X-men go.
While Storm fans flatter themselves that Storm was added to BP as a cynical ploy to "gain popularity", this was not the case.
Storm and BP were setup to start a relationship as soon as the series was made an ongoing because the author had stories he wanted to tell with Ororo.
butterflykyss
Storm actually interacting with black people besides telling them "she's not their sister."
Storm's African-American family actually being found and shown as great.
Storm actually commenting, at a press conference, on being discriminated against because of being an African woman.
Her interaction with T'Challa was great. Really, if you can't understand it or don't like it I can't help you.
I'm rereading the issues as I write this and I really like Hudlin's writing.

Quoted for 100% truth.
We don't do fake facts over here especially as all of of the facts Ezyo1000, Marvell1000 and yourself have raised are easily verifiable by anyone genuinely interested in reading the relevant stories with an unprejudiced mindset.

I would never dream of going into the Storm Appreciation thread to spout such derogatory drivel and expect to be given a pass but it's apparently alright for some to come into the BP appreciation thread with negativity only for actual BP enthusiasts to get low key called out as being trouble makers after responding to provocation with actual continuity based facts.
The mind truly boggles at the disingenuity of it all.

I do and did appreciate some of the things hudlin did for the character. I loved that he cemented her being a potential omega level mutant, having her fight death and winning to save Tchalla's life, and I appreciate the things he did that you mentioned. I also liked that he showed her being a major player during the superhuman registration act that said, I don't think always did a great job of capturing her voice. with all Chris Claremont's short comings when it came to embracing her blackness (though I would argue he attempted to address it when she visited Harlem to connect with her father's roots), he set the standard for her when it comes to her characterization. hudlin was lacking here, examples being when she was cheerleading Hercules right with clor and even how she went off on Tony when he visited the wakanda embassy. at times too when it came to her he write her a bit submissive in areas where she should not have been like tchalla and her visited doom. that said, even with his flaws he has done a heck of a lot more than many of the current xwriters have done and I give him credit for that .

So I won't go into who was right or wrong as it relates to how the wedding ended. I think we both have discussed this enough to know each other's perspective on said topic. In regards to the xwriters I acknowledge thty have been trolls to tchalla, the marriage (for the most part) but the same is true if Ororo. They haven't done this character ANY favors. In spite of how some may see Coates, I think he has shown them interacting in a loving way. bit h in date night ororo admitted thar she only rewuired his affection and there was a mutual respect. and even when iriri set the terms for them working at their relationship again they both admitted they would not forsake the other and worked well together to stop the supernatural threat against the Wakandan town. so no I highly disagree that Coates is doing the same as many xwriters did before. you must remember, Tchalla effort to win otiri back didn't start with coates . it actually started with human when the universes were about to end and tchalla wanted to spend his last moments with her. all in all, even if the relationship doesn't ultimately work i do appreciate Coates trying to undo the damage done during ivx and i think he has done a great job thus far.

Would an alternate New Avengers story of using the infinity gems to create an alternate earth and moving earths population to it and destroying earth prime work? If Tchalla had gone back in time, they could have done that?

Since Storm is apparently so popular, it's weird she had to use Panther's book as a launchpad to get her own series off the ground.
Twice.
Maybe this time she'll hit 12 issues.

Nope, ultimately that would only be a stop gap solution. It would end the immediate threat of incursions but not the total multiversal collapse that resulted in Battleworld.
