Shuri & Wakanda are not OWNED by another franchise. So they are 100% part of his franchise. So if anyone wanted to do something with them beyond comics-they don't have to deal with that other office.
Where disrespect to the King is expected. Where they don't even bother to acknowledge what is done in this book for the most part.
Me keeping my MONEY in my pocket and not supporting this book is appreciating Black Panther. Since he doesn't have his own book for some reason.
Because at the END Black Panther has 2 movies, 1 short lived tv show, 190+ solo issues, 50+ trades, 10+ toys and gave little black boys something to look up to.
Kirby, Priest, Huldon, Hickman, McDuffie and others (before Coates) busted their BEHINDS to get to that point. Fighting every single racist troll online and off. Especially when a certain franchise used someone as a tool to bash him as the worst black man on the planet. Without and I repeat WITHOUT taking over someone's book.
When does Storm get that? Not sitting up putting MONEY into the pocket of the Black Panther. All that does is open the door for him and SHURI & Queen Nadia to expand the Panther Empire. An Empire Storm can not join. She's an X-Man first and ONLY.
World building Storm in Panther's book means NOTHING. Because when Coates leaves-who is going to take up the cause? Not the X-Office. Not whoever gets Panther. Not Marvel. Because all they see is those sales numbers for Panther's book that probably got boosts from Storm fans and HE gets the investment NOT her.
Its not Panther fans hating Storm. It's she needs her OWN stuff. She needs her OWN book. Because long run this does not benefit her. It only makes her Cyborg. Yeah it's nice to see her with something but you have to think LONG run.
I understand your point but should coates not write her because of that? because he doesnt own her fully?
storm being in BP franchise is not the fault of coates. hudlin was the one who set the path for that and honestly before it was announced I remember saying coates may know something we didnt with putting him back with ororo. I imagine when disney get full rights to the xmen we will see better synergy across the franchises.
and we dont know what will happen after coates leaves but at this moment he has established her as a part of wakandas mythos, as well as xmen red. so it's not just contained to bp.
and wakanda is a part of her stuff hudlin made what we have now possible but I agree I want her to have her own little corner that links to her and only her. like I said once Disney get the rights back I expect to see things change I hopefully positive ways.
to your point about hating I respectfully disagree. I come here too often to shady comments about coates and/or storm .

the opposite actually happens in her thread. people are in fact welcomed to talk about him and how they like him without being charged with being a troll. you can ask your buds here who low key lurk there.

Agreed, whats i interesting is that x-writers barely bat an eye at the work Coates is putting in on Storm, further validation that if there's no Storm book going to Coates he will have spent a year plus making an unrelated character almost as important as the main character. That represents too much wasted paper and time for people who really want a T'challa that is utilized and developed similar to what Scott Snyder has done with Batman! During the same timeframe he has added so much depth to his mythos using so many different elements and even other characters all while making Batman more badass, this even with Batman taking L's along the journey. Instead we get....SuperSayian Storm??? Whaaa??? For the record i love Storm's character.
Hi,
My Hudlin book is at my work and I only get a chance to read it on my breaks or lunch. I am up to the part where T'Challa is in a coma, and Shuri had to kick some butt. I was swamped the last couple of days so did not get to catch up further yet. I will try Liss' books next, if that is the reading order. Mostly at home, I have been reading my IM omnibus #1 that I had never read. I hope to get back to T'Challa soon.
After all these debates, I am almost scared to read the arc about this Advasary (sp) person LOL.
Yea after Hudlin's BP vol 5 the it goes into Doom war which is... Difficult to read. Very cringe worthy stuff happens, then Liss run is next.
Honestly the Issue is less about storm (she kinda gets dragged into it) and more about Coates just poorly treating Tchalla since he started writing BP, in ALL. The stories he had told, even Black panther and the Crew.
Storm got dragged into it when Coates made storm the driving point of the main plot in season 2, asked a legit question ( Where are the gods) didn't anseiit in the end and retconned then entire Wakandan pantheon, poorly, to give storm a power up.
Most people here were fine with Storm showing up, or even helping in the final fight, however, the Lions share and big feat should of went to Tchalla with an assist from Storm. Bit the other way around.
But by all means Read it and come to the conclusion yourself. This debate that's been going on should dissipate now

Only time they really talk about Tchalla is how he relates to Storm. I'll drop a line or two when I think the X writers are trolling their relationship. lol
But let someone come in there praising Jean Grey. Get at least 24hrs of five paragraph essays with scans and footnotes. lol
And they will drag Gunn... through every circle of hell over how he treats her.

Wouldn't you say that is due to the Xbooks keeping Tchalla at cameo levels at best. You can't hate if there is no material to hate on. I think there would be a few posters who would talk trash if Tchalla was saving the day in an Xbook where Storm is present.

conversations about him recently there were questioning how jean had the type of relationship that would make him want to stick his neck and country neck out for her. but to your point I don't think anyone has issue with how tchalla and the way he is written now but some do in reference to when they were married. those posters dot make it a point to constant talk bad about him because of that.

Right now BP is sitting at 699,671,468.00 if it continues at the same rate as last week and then come Sunday BP will be sitting at about 699,800.000~ so very close to reaching 700 mil. If they keep it in theatre's for two more weeks it will hit it, especially with 4th of July coming up

All time World Wide (not counting for inflation) BP is #4 behind all the avengers films

Don't sleep on Superfly that movie will probably top off at 1.4 billion easily with that great script and awesome concept carrying it!
I hope they do a prequel to it so that we know how "Superfly" got his powers and all that magnificent tech that he uses!
Warrior Falls... AWKWARD!
As Zuri pours panther power reduction liquid down King T'challa's throat the Doras start pop locking and convulsing to that hypnotic beat they do just before a big fight.
Superfly: "I waited my entire life for this moment right here... I stole, I hustled, I even sold drugs to my own brothers and sisters right here on this continent just to get here! And all that slanging rocks just so I can sell some to you!"
King T'challa: "Wait... You're trying to sell me drugs?"
Superfly: "What, you thought we was fighting or something... Naw, I'm about my papers I wanna use your Wardog connections and move this product!"
King T'challa: "Let's review... You came to Wakanda with Klaw's body, Prince N'jobo's ring and all this for some international drug cartel ambitions???"
Superfly: "Yeah, Klaw owed me money and the streets is watching so I handled that and I don't know nothing bout' no Prince N'jobobobobo I got that ring on Ebay!"
King T'challa: "So it's not vibranium you are after or our weapons???"
Superfly: "Vibra what? Your weapons, well if I have to smoke a fool I'm down with that!"
King T'challa: "W'kabi WTF DUDE!"
W'kabi: "I'm just as clueless as you... Man show up at the border with Klaw's body whatchoo want me to do I just follow orders around here!"
Queen Mother: "This is THE last African American 'OUTSIDER" we let up in here... Turn that dayum waterfall off my hair frizzing up!"
Shuri: "Nothing to see here folks keep it moving!"
Superfly: "My man lemme get one of them spaceships and make a run right quick I'll cut you in on the profits!"
King T'challa: "Seriously... Boy bye!"
Superfly: "I hear yaw'll got some heart shaped herb weed up in here let me sample that... BURN IT ALL!"

I was lurking a couple miles back which one of you came up with the N'jobobobobobo name so that I can properly credit you and kick you down some residuals before the lawyers get involved!
I was telling my son about that name and he found it funny too so I had to swagger jack it for my impromptu schtick!
I watched Infinity Wars again yesterday and it still holds up well after the third viewing but even if it passes Black Panther domestically I would not be surprised if Disney does another re-release later on like Star Wars or Avatar did to boost the numbers!
I am not sure how yet to judge between Killmonger and Thanos as the greatest MCU villain because each of their motives were very personal to them but just thinking about Erik growing up fatherless, qualifying for an MIT education and dropping off the grid as a black ops trained killer just to get to Wakanda and kill his cousin is all kinds of emotional inertia unmatched!
Still... That scene with Gomora sassing her father and then getting tossed off the cliff might be the rawest image short of the movie Mommie Dearest!
That and Thanos working the Hulk right after the great sermon by The Reverend Ebony Maw is one of the best opening super hero movies ever!
(Pours out a little liquor on the floor for Heimdall)

Yeah, and we still haven't seen Queeny, THE RULER OF THE JABARI, say a damn thing either.
Okoye, the most loyal Dora ever, would have no part of the MA. But, the only reason Okoye is even aroun dis because the movie blew up. Coates didn't even have the foresight to bring her in earlier when she was cast to at least make it make sense.
Yeah you need to read the whole story before speaking on such things
T'Challa beat Mephisto TWICE. First on Earth and then in Mephisto's dimension (which you posted). He defeated him on Earth (by punching him once and then ripping out his heart) which meant he would have to go back to his pocket realm. T'Challa followed and challenged him in that realm specifically to cut him off as a source of power for Achebe. The point: T'Challa vs. Mephisto showed the physical, intellectual and mystical prowess of the Black Panther. IMO it also highlighted how he is a hero different from other heroes. While he is the main focus, as Black Panther he is a "WE" or in other terms, he represents the collective strength and will of his people. This is a very intriguing concept that portrays him culturally as a African hero. Since Storm is NOT his wife, she is an outsider, and her help continues this sense of USAID charity that Wakanda has been relying on as of recent.
I enjoy reading posts about BP, but all this other stuff gives me a headache and its hard to sort through all of it to get to the posts that talk about the hero I came here to read about. I think Thanos is the best but need to see how the story ends with him. One reason killmonger was such a good villain was how he ended too.
TBF, Thanos got waaaaaaaay more screen time and way more fleshed out. It is amazing how great of a villain Killmonger was for being a one movie villain that had to share time with another villain. The only "one movie villain" that comes close to him is Vulture really. IMO

One of the wikis suggested that QDJ and M'Baku were exiled after BP #49, and that's why she was living in the States, and had latent anger issues in the Coates run. It doesn't explain why she helped out Kasper back in the day, though.

I still think that's due to the fact that IW isn't the sort of movie that most people want to see more than once. BP is, OTOH. Hell I even saw it twice, and I almost never do that....

In quite disappointed in how messed up they made Nakia, especially since she just had an appearance in the annual. I guess that was pre crack Nakia?
I feel the MA is trying to take over and become it's own thing and like MoS said, Okoye would of been like F all y'all for abandoning the thrown and taking land that doesn't belong to you. But nope just randomly appears, no explanation, and is just cool with all the change, and qdj has no words for what happened to jabari.
Dora Milaje sounds cooler then midnight angels. But that's trying to be a thing now with a western name. I don't foresee Wakanda forever picking up any traction Okoye should of been here from day one smacking the heads of the spoiled MA brats

Ugly Queen Nakia...
Academy Award winner Lupita N'yongo is all types of that new "IT" girl so how hard is it to retcon something so simple as making her exactly what she is in one of THE most popular movies like ever!
Who would dare go depict Blade in that old school look he had way back when and ignore that glorious Wesley Snipes depiction just because!
Who is asleep at the wheel and needs to pull over at the next rest area and let someone else drive who is more "WOKE" and bring this road trip to a safer conclusion!
Ugly Nakia is all types of bad marketing and PR... I mean if Lupita were to even read comics she has to have a livid opinion of that very hot mess!
Burbank, California... Mickey Mouse's office.
Lupita paces back and forth staring intently at Mickey like Darth Maul just before impaling Qui Gon Jinn shaking her head with approval mode on NOPE.
Mickey Mouse: "Don't say it I know and I'm on it I promise you!"
Lupita N'yongo: "I mean... It's bad enough you don't have not one authentic Royal Talon Fighter toy for sale at those Disney Stores in the mall but this is pushing it!"
Mickey Mouse: "Yes, we dropped the ball multiple times with this franchise but we will do better believe me!"
Lupita N'yongo: "And that other thing?"
Mickey Mouse: "What other thing?"
Lupita N'yongo: "COME BACK TO ME!!!"
Mickey Mouse: "Oh that... I'll get my top people all over that and fix it for you trust me I know your pain Storm is out of there ASAP you have my word!"
Mickey's Secretary: "Mickey your 'OTHER' appointment is here earlier than expected sir!"
Mickey Mouse: "Oh snap... Could you leave out the side door please and use the service elevator thanks!"
Lupita N'yongo: "WHY? I am just as important as any other A-list..."
Halle Berry: "Mickey I heard about the Disney Fox merger you wanted to see me... Lupita hey girl, it's nice to see you again looking forward to working with you I hope there is no malice about this arrangement!"
Lupita N'yongo: "Working with...Malice... WTF is she doing here?"
Mickey Mouse: "Awkward..."

Majestic I'm never really gone I still lurk hiding in waited anticipation to insert my zaniness in the conversation where applicable! :D
The real alternate dimension story... The hard drive on my computer went out so I had to decide on fixing it, buying the same refurbished or brand new iMac or going back in time for that old school Mac Pro tower (Not the trashcan version) with upgradeable RAM and graphics card options while waiting for Apple to get their head back in the game sometime in year 2019!
Mac Pro tower for the win so I'm back!
Anyway... While I'm frakking around with game making software there is an article in the Gameinformer magazine called Wakanda Forever: Why We Need A Black Panther Video Game...

Click the "Read Now In Your Browser" link and go to page 33... In the actual physical copy of the magazine it's on page 22!
My all time favorite video games the Batman Arkham series Rocksteady used the Unreal Engine software and it appears that Klaw is already ahead of the game...

Well, I'm definitely glad you're back amongst us.

Okay this one's for butterflykiss...
Wakanda, the throne room.
The elders gather with concerned looks on their faces murmuring with shocked looks.
Nakia enters to a muted sound that only a pin dropping could echo to...
Nakia: "My lord you wished to speak to me."
King T'challa: "The elders requested this meeting take a seat please."
Just then Ororo Munroe aka Storm emerges from behind a curtain and hands the king a Kimoyo bead that digitally blinks to life and reveals a twerking Nakia.
The elders gasp and then focus their attention upon the red faced... Well actually more purple since she is dark complexioned Nakia who is caught off guard by the revelation.
Storm standing just behind King T'challa sends a mocking grin at her "Adversary" (AHEM) with that "I gotchoo b!tch" stare.
King T'challa: "Explain!"
Nakia: "It was a Wardog mission... I was infiltrating a show hosted by LL Cool J to gain some valuable intel for Wakanda!"
King T'challa: "LL Cool J?"
Nakia: "It means Ladies Love Cool James... I swear it was all for Wakanda you gotta believe me!"
Storm leans over and whispers something into King T'challa's ear, looks up and winks at Nakia causing her a fit of fluster at the audacity.
Nakia: "Why is she here... She is an outsider she is not one of us."
King T'challa: "I sent Storm, a personal friend of mine, on a Wardog mission to spy on you beloved!"
Nakia: "What kind of convoluted BOOLSHET is this?"
Storm grabs the bottom of her lip revealing a Wardog tattoo just below her pearly whites.
Nakia: "OH HELL TO THE NAW... I saved you and your family from Killmonger and this is the thanks that I get! This place is a mad house I tell you a mad house! Spy's everywhere!"
King T'challa: "This is a disgrace and your Lip Syncing sucked at that... You are not fit to be queen of Wakanda!"
As rage flows through the king of Wakanda Storm begins to rub his shoulders ever so gently soothing his anger.
Nakia: "And she is?"
King T'challa: "Storm has put in valuable work for Wakanda she will make a great queen... And since you always wanted to work outside of Wakanda so badly I hereby banish you from inside the borders of Wakanda!"
As security escorts a disgruntled Nakia bordering on malice out of the throne room Storm squeezes the hand of King T'challa and with a lightning twitch in her eyes boldly proclaims...
Storm: "Bye Felica!"
That's all you get butterflykiss enjoy... :)

There's a lot more truth in this satirical post than Coates has presented over close to three years of trashing and devaluing the BP mythos.
Not BP related.
I'm only through 3 episodes and Bushmaster is on my list for top villain mostly because he might be the coolest.
I just saw the trailer.
The Powers that Be are really missing an opportunity by not having Luke and Blade pass through BP2 even for a brief moment. But anything can happen.

I was honestly hoping they would be able to squeeze some of the marvel characters from the TV side of things into Infinty War, even if it were just cameos or whatever. But they probably jammed as many heroes as they could.
Show me where it says they aren't regular humans, because that story clearly points to then being being regular people fighting for land they inhabited and insulted the denizens and bit anything special. Just heroes rose from the conflict. Storm is a mutant. And Coates butchered the BP patheon to give her a soon to be forgotten power up.
I was re-reading issue 15, and I caught a line in the book which is sort of relavent to conversation about whether or not the people who became the Orisha were regular humans. It actually states that that the Orisha were children of the ELder gods (who are way above even the Pantheon gods), but not gods themselves.
Being children of an elder god may or may not make them regular human beings... but in the least I'd say it's a lot more believable they could become gods than the average person who wasn't a child of an elder god. So I think this makes a bit more sense. That would imply a degree of divinity in the gene pool. Sort of makes them like Hercules, before he became a full god.
