Wakanda was fully restored. He didn't have to hand wave anything. Hickman had T'Challa do that with the Infinity Gauntlet.
The Incursions happened. Wakanda was destroyed along with the rest of Earth. Everything was restored to the point right before the 1st Incursion.

Except no writer has followed that. That's why they have established they used the Reality Gem and not the Time Gem. Don't get me wrong, I agree that Hickman's intent was to use the Time Gem. It just makes more sense for the story he's telling. But they then decided to tie that story into other Marvel events, which means the greater Marvel continuity and that continuity was not erased after Secret Wars. This isn't a Coates thing. Everyone (possible Marvel editorial, who knows) decided the universe was not restored to the point right before the first incursion.
Killmonger
Just to be clear, the villain is N'Jadaka who may or may not be Erik Killmonger.
41. Black Panther #2 (Marvel) - 34,891 [47]
YIKES that was fast.
The first issue always has incentive ordering due to variants as well as speculators. Obviously, it wasn't going to stay that high. How does it compare to Black Panther #172?

172 was 26,345. That is an incentivized number as well because retailers had to order a certain amount to get access to the #1 variants

I don't know who everyone is but it clearly shows T'Challa returning to the point where he interacts with the Wakanda Science Team right before the 1st Incursion occurred. Whether he used the Time or reality Gem, that's the point of his restoration of the universe. That is shown on panel.

Really the mist sensible thing would have been to use the whole damn gauntlet rather than just one gem. I think he needed to use at least 2 to go back in time and rewrite history. But the book for whatever reason has him go out of his way to remove the gauntlet and use just one gem.

This represents as 71% drop in sales. For comparison sake, BP vol 6 #1-2 drop was 69% drop while the legacy renumbering was a 57% drop.
Rise is the real MVP though

completely off the cuff speculation... to me, this tells me there are about 18k hardcore comic black panther fans

Some of the Gems looks like they were damaged in the fight with Doom. Maybe there was only one that would work.

Some cats just choose to ignore what's clearly illustrated on page and instead just go off on wild flights of fancy.
Rape and misogyny were not the go to places for other writers in the aftermath of Hickman's Secret Wars but Coates "I can't wrap my head around the he BP mythos" agenda driven self, just had to take a massive dump on the mythos aided and abetted by an extremely lazy Marvel Editorial.
This guy is without a doubt, the worst writer to ever blight T'challa in decades.

Everyone gets to use the Gauntlet except T'challa who got lumbered with a busted down version. Lol!

So #2 is still an 8,000 unit improvement? I guess #171 is the magic number to take out of incentives but, either way, there's still a relaunch boost.

Yeah, I'm aware of Hickman's story. But I'm talking about the entire Marvel continuity and not just his story. Coates's story fits in with what everyone else has done where Hickman's story doesn't fit in with Marvel continuity unless you take advantage that things aren't literally stated in order to interpret it in a less than intuitive way.

Even then, he thought enough to save the universe.
If only he could save his own struggling comic.

I'm beginning to think that there are some readers who are actually intimidated by a capable T'challa.
They're more comfortable with a milquetoast character who's anything but alpha male.
No one is fooled by the shenanigans at this point.
We just kick back with the aquatic homie Namor and..... laugh. :)

He'd have to rescued from Coates death grip first.
Dude's hanging onto this cash cow (of diminishing returns) for dear life.
