I mean him being presented well in BP never stopped jobbing outside of the book
Hudlin made him a threat and we saw what happened after that.
Classic Klaw is ok as long as he is fighting science based heroes like Iron Man and Black Panther or the FF. Or in a team fighting science based heroes.
If he is anywhere else, like a Daredevil comic or a Captain America comic he is gonna job.
He is in the same boat as Electro with the only difference being that there's no Sinister Six to periodically revive his rep. The bads of the
Sinister Six have been beaten like rugs repeatedly but they can't job them out utterly since Spidey needs his Silver Age rogue team to not be utter trash.
Black Panther doesn't even have enough Silver Age rogues to have a full rogue team.
Unless you want to count Kiber the Cruel and that Vibrainium monster guy from Kirby's run and I can't even remember that dude's name.
-
I'm surprised we're getting a big Klaw arc instead of just bringing back Killmonger to be honest, though maybe that's coming up.
-
Movie Klaw is likely a variation on Hudlin Kalw. No cheesy costume, cool robotic appendage.
He's pretty clever and crafty to steal all that Vibranium from Wakanda.
True, the fact that he's capable of stealing from the most advanced nation on earth shows either a high degree of intelligence, a high degree of resources, or both. Hopefully we'll see more of that in the BP movie.
-
I'd prefer to see them use Killmonger's son.

Klaw should actually have some issues with Steve because of the shield, but I agree he generally speaking shouldn't mix it up with the street level guys.
I suppose if you did thought McGregor, Priest and Kirby you could dig up a sinister 6. Problem being even the highest profile of the bunch would still be C listers. But that's the fun of pulling guys out like that. Ideally if you scrape off some of the cheese you can have a few viable rogues.

They should bring back the Supremacists, but don't tie them to a specific country. In modern times it would be easy enough for them to be pulled together via the internet from all over the globe wherever whiny entitled d-bags congregate.
I actually think the heel turn formula is a better way of developing villains in the marvel movies.
I think you can argue almost across the board (Loki being the big exceptions), the villains in the MCU movies have been on the weak side. But having them start off as a part of the heroes supporting cast before turning them into an antagonist allows them to have their own story arc, and really give them personal stakes when they finally do end up turning heel on the hero. They did it to a lesser extent with Ego, but the closest example to that might be Mordo in Strange. We got an entire movie to see his side of things to the point where we actually give a dam about him before seeing him in Strange 2.
Ideally you WANT the crowd to utterly hate the bad guys, rather than simply not care. And a heel turn does that. You hate them more because at one point you liked them, and you feel that sting of betrayal just like the hero feels. Or at least that's ideally how you should feel if it's executed properly.
yeah I get the feeling that Nakia is headed in that direction. The "heel turn". Because it stays true to her character. She may not be as "obsessed" as she was in the comics, but her sinister-ness can still be there. I think Lupita as an eventual villain after spending the first portion of the movie being very supportive of T'Challa would be very interesting, and something people that haven't read the comics wouldn't see coming.
I get the feeling that there's a way that Warmonger knows these "inside details" about what's going on with what T'Challa is doing, and always seems to know "where to be" to thwart him. It would make all the more sense that Nakia was the one giving him that information.
Hudlin's Klaw didn't just pop up constantly kill hundreds get thrown in prison and escape like some criminal from Gotham. I think that made T'challa a stronger character than a lot of his contemporaries. Plus Hudlin's Klaw was fierce. He wasn't the stereotypical Doctor Evil that prattled on and choked.
That's a bit of a double edged blade though. A major part of Batman's appeal is that he has the most popular rogue's gallery on the planet. The in-universe reason Batman doesn't kill might be that he doesn't want to cross some line, but we all know the real reason is cash.
I mean Klaw himself is pretty much an example of that. Hudlin had him get murked and then as soon as someone else wanted him back (was it McDuffie?) he was magically not dead because T'Challa doesn't have very many recognizable villains.

Or like I suggested earlier, they can pull the rug out from everybody, revamp Monica and have her become the MCU malice. The movies have taken some liberties with their source material so I don’t see what’s stopping them from taking liberties when it comes to Malice.

I have been saying this for awhile, There were a perfect group to make a sinister 6 type for T'Challa to put those hands on. They were powered, and they were obviously evil

Can someone explain to me where this "Golden Jaguar" name for Killmonger's suit came from? There are no jaguars in Africa. This is annoying. (Unless of course we are trying to saying he's been Americanized but that is still meh... I'm tired of people placing cats in Africa that don't belong).

No idea. I noted the same confusion in my breakdown of the trailer (here). I think it's just a name that caught fire in social media, because I haven't seen it officially referred to as that, even in the merchandise leaks.

Nakia not being in Infinity War is a bit of a red flag, but I don't expect every single Marvel character to be in the film. Plus it was said she specializes in espionage overseas so they could always claim that she's busy undercover in another country while Wakanda is being attacked.
I don't step into the Marvel side a lot, but I'm hyped as hell for Black Panther. Makes me tingle with excitement at the sight of unadulterated black excellence.
Welcome.
