I think McGregor doesn't get enuff credit in general although I am willing to admit the serious flaws in his writing. But as a couple of folks have pointed out, he was someone who wanted to write BP and helped expand the mythos. I still think a couple of those old villains could be brought back ( Venom would need a new name etc).
I mean other then the torture porn and Ramonda telling Tchalla not to murder kill her captor and admitted sometimes she enjoyed it...
But I guess it would of been worse had he Not fought for Tchalla so I guess that's okay
Don McGregor's been approached to write a ten page entry for a Black Panther anthology scheduled for release next year to coincide with the Black Panther movie.
Nice, this made my day.
I hope he uses some of his Panther's Rage villains and Monica since he wrote her the best.

BP might have remained what Ross called him in the first Marvel Knight issue, "the dude in the background in those Avengers group shots."
I thought bendis best showing of Tchalla was when he told the Illuminati off and told then they were fools
Bendis wrote that? Well I'll be damned.

This is true, he did do some good got him, so I'll give him that. I still have a side eye about it, but as i said I'll check it out Still.
Bendis wrote that? Well I'll be damned.
Yeah. Show's that if he bothered to out in just a wee bit if effort, he could write s competent Tchalla. Hell even in CW II he had that moment where T'Challa went boss mode on Carol and shut her down from trying to arrest miles (stupid that we haven't seen them interact still or have miles thank him for the save and T'Challa provide him with some updates) but then it was quickly ruined by the verbal blow job Bendis had Tchalla give about Steve.
Which was completely unnecessary. But it shows if he tries he can write Tchalla decently. Fuckery just reigns supreme however.

Yes, I hated all that too. Being a relative late-comer to BP (I only got into him after Christopher Priest's run had ended and I picked up some back-issues) I was unaware of McGregor's work. It was finally on the recommendation of the Late Great Dwayne McDuffie himself that I finally made the effort to track down his work. Which, being long before any thought of his work ever being collected, meant going to several different websites to order all the issues, Jungle Action, Marvel Comics Presents, and Panther's Prey. And when I read it I couldn't believe all the praise it had gotten (even Grant Morrison raves about it). It just seemed to me like BP was constantly getting his butt-kicked and just barely surviving in the end when he "won." All accompanied by a batch of long over-written captions.
And yeah, that scene where Ramonda reminisces how she sometimes enjoyed it when the South African man who kidnapped her would rape her really stood out to me. Ugh.

Yes, I have to at least give him credit there. He said he was given the Jungle Action title and immediately thought it was ridiculous to star these White characters running around the jungles of Africa so he looked up the one actual African character Marvel had and decided to make him the star. For better or worse he was the first writer to show that BP could be a viable starring character, not just a guest-star or team member. The character may never have advanced beyond supporting player if now for him.

yaaaahhh.. remember when I was telling you guys that Coates may know something behind the scenes which is why he put storm with black panther; that there may be something in the works where Disney would obtain the xmen properties? It seems I was right.

Read the article you posted again. it didn't say it was dead but that they are not currently talking at moment and could be revisited, which is the same thing my link said. additionally with their stocks climbing because of said talks I'm sure they are likely to reconsider. so again...

I hope all you T'Challa fans get ready to see Ororo in Black Panther 2. It's clear Marvel is doing everything they can to bring them back together. The Queen is back in her rightful place.

ANd the moment that happens-I will boycott Black Panther.
And lets get something straight if that happens-it's not to get Storm into Black Panther-it's about Deadpool, Logan and the rest of the X-Men who don't need to take over someone else's book to get attention.
The Queen's place is at Wolverine's side not BP. Because the moment X-Men become Marvel's Panther, Carol, Strange, GOTG and so on will all take a backseat.
