What? That check list has never, I repeat, NEVER happened in an origin movie where the audience hasn't had a chance to even give a damn about the protagonist yet. Until now. Are you scared that a fully realized T'Challa would come off as a Mary sue? Well he was vanilla and vulnerable and that didn't make him compelling at all. Coogler's T'Challa is trash and embarrassing. Coates is the lesser of two evils.
How? They're both terrible but MCU T'Challa has his traits either missing or dealt out like a pack of cards.
I don't remember what happened in thor but it never happened to Tony in ironman 1. Tony wasn't spending the majority of his movie listening to his supporting cast give speeches. They instead built up ironman as a person and he had excellent dialogue. Ironman wasn't given underwhelming action setpieces compared to his supporting cast.
Neither was T’Challa. Yeah, he’s more willing to listen to other people’s advice than Tony, but to say that’s all he does is false.
The severity of the ass beating T'Challa received in killmonger the movie, is usually reserved for sequels. What Coogler did was put the cart before the horse. Imagine if bane broke batman in the very first ever batman movie. Its an idiotic move if you're looking to build a franchise off the character.
And yet it hasn’t stopped a sequel from happening nor has it damaged the BP brand.
Also watch the first Spider-Man movie or the first Iron Man movies. They get similar beatings from their villains.
And as I pointed out, this wasn’t T’Challa’s first cinematic appearance either.

I guarantee you they will not pull that nonsense with captain marvel.
We’ll see.
The question I have is why have this puedo Wakanda. The story basically sounds like Planet Hulk.

I swear sometimes it's like this thread comes up with ideas for what we want to see happen with BP and then Coates comes in and Black Mirrors the #### out of it.
This thread is freaking insane.
I recall someone calling the BP writer Coates-Monger.
What a fitting name.

It really seems that way.
I don't recommend anyone pick up Doctor Strange Damnation 3 if you want it for your BP collection (at least he's possessed so it isn't as bad)

If you're just going to selectively take BP's traits from the comics. Several writers have done BP dirty. I don't really see any major problems with the MCU T'Challa given its live action and putting it in context with the rest of the cinematic universe.
What was wrong with his portrayal in Civil War? That he didn't kill Zemo? Dude was trying to commit suicide. Other than that the only minor nitpicks I saw were Bucky ghosting him after BP kicked his butt the second time, and Widow tazzering him.
MCU is always going to be adapted to what Disney thinks is most palatable to a mainstream audience. The BP movie just decided to actually develop Wakanda and BP's supporting and villain which helped make it such a success. Literally the only thing BP did wrong in the film was let his feelings get in the way lose to Killmonger, someone he should have been much more skilled than with those weapons. Yeah he could have explained how things went down to W'kabi in detail, but no one would have suspected Killmonger showing up at his front door or W'Kabi committing treason for a dude he just met.
Are you unhappy with BP not being portrayed as a super scientist? I don't really think they shut the door on that, but I'd still be happy with him as a genius tactician and wise monarch.
In terms of judgments and actions what more did you want? I think there is plenty time to hook BP up with cool gadgets and more bad@$$ fight scenes going forward. Outside of his beatdown by Killmonger he pretty much walked through everyone else in the film.
I'm not going to lie. I was shocked they went with Kilmonger winning storyline for the first movie. i personally wanted Killmonger to win at the end of the movie on some Empire Strikes Back ish and the third movie being the comeback. The problem is that Klaw was a wack villain due to AOU. I have been displeased with the pre-movie Black Panther lore. Klaw was made into a second-rate arms dealer instead of a genius scientist. MCU Klaw was not a villain worth BP's time. Overall BPs stardom was muted due to his suporting cast but I do not have a problem with that. My issue is debating this "T'Challa iz a c00n/ T'Challa is Obama" narrative.

In glad it's out of the way because now for the 3rd Movie it won't go like Thor Rag (I saybthat because they had very similar themes) or Batman dark Knight rises, or any movie I. Which the villain works the hero and they don't get a win. T'Challa lost round 1 but came back for r2 and outskilled an opponent of equal power. Bow they can go to bigger threats. I do hate that Klaw was reduced in AoU but I liked how they had him act. He had more use out of him but of well. He could still make a cone back after IW
As for supporting cast. Again I don't think he was muted. He played off every one perfectly and hos cast matters. That's one thing I disliked about Marvel movies. Weak villains and weak supporting cast. Thor's being the absolute worst. With BP as well with hos cast ot means further expansion of the franchise after his 3 movie's because it's big enough to do so

This was amazing, thanks
This is so gimped. The movie is called black panther as well. If they showed the whole list, "T'Challa" would probably be 6th
And "Erik" would probably be 15th. The people who track this stuff know to take that into account.
