Maj I just read your post... Sorry about your loss and my prayers are with you and your family!
My situation was that my mother had an aneurysm around the time I was banned so I was at the hospital most of the time... It was close for her but she is almost back to her old self!
What was funny despite the situation was that she was at the hospital in Burbank right up the street from Disney where most of my fan fiction concerning Mickey Mouse takes place!
With a sense of humor that I inherited from her she would have probably wanted me to keep TROLLING but me and my brother were too busy keeping family and friends nationwide updated on her situation as we traded shifts!
Maj having lost a father three years ago and almost losing mom I understand what you are going through so stay strong my friend!
On another note... The team of doctors that they gathered to rescue mom one of them the brain specialist reminded me of Reed Richards as he explained what procedures they were going to do and how they were going to do it down to the last detail!
Them dudes was rock and roll every step of the way... And moms rehab stay needs to be an episode of Seinfeld because she had two cray cray roommates in a row! Lol
Anywho...
As I walked from the hospital to a comic shop to kill time between nurse shifts I took a pic of the Disney offices in Burbank to help with the visuals to go along with the fan fiction... If you look closely you can see Chadwick Boseman leaving in jet black feet pajamas!

I want to speculate on how BP will be used in CA 3. I'm thinking that the fall out between Cap and Iron Man will have Steve on the run and calling on an old friend for help. I'd rather that they pre-establish that Steve and T'Challa knew each other rather than a first encounter.

Glad to hear that your mom is doing well FLEX. We've all had some very tough family and friend health issues to deal with the past few months.

alientraveler... M'Baku is not worth the risk of getting him wrong when Andy Serkis is the brains as Klaw and Raw Leiba is the brawn as Killmonger so to speak!
The table is easily set for dining and adding repetitive type characters can crowd the experience... I would rather see a muscle menacing threat like Killmonger who apparently is not expected to be brainless but meant to throw punches like M'Baku would!
Killmonger is actually the key to street cred for this movie as I expect many black fans might embrace him in the same way fans embrace Doom or Magneto as the go to villain!
And nothing wrong with casting a Princess Zonda as well but here is to hope that they steer clear away from the bungling Everett K. Ross Threes Company Jack Tripper moments!
Now the hard part is picking the soundtrack without tapping Hans Zimmer and dealing with the obvious Batman comparisons that will follow shortly!
And oh yes the Batman comparisons will be front and center now that the cat is out of the bag... Lol

Even more reason for Wakanda to be a big part of the BP movie to explore and exploit the big differences between the two. T'Challa and Ras As Ghul are more similar than BP and Bats
I'm not really sure about hudlin getting attached to the movie. get someone else unreervedly like priest or someone who can write a good script and a director.
And what pray tell is wrong with Reginald Hudlin?
You know the guy who actually wrote T'Challa the way he's meant to be written and has gone above and beyond to prove his commitment to the character.
Reginald Hudlin loves the Black Panther Mythos unreservedly so I'd have zero problem with him in the Directors seat.

Flex, thank you so much for your kind words. They really mean a lot.
I'm glad to hear that your Mom is getting better and I'll be praying for you and your entire family moving forward.

Regarding the movie, I think Hudlin should be involved as either consultant, director, or even with the screenplay. It was nice to see Feige mention Hudlin off the get-go as well.
Hey my Wakandan peeps! Long time no see. Hope everyone is doing well. ;)
What an epic day of announcements.... super excited that we'll be seeing T'Challa on the big screen! I think Boseman was a very wise pick. Between watching the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer and checking out the movie line up for Marvel's phase 3, I am too hype!
Welcome back

No matter what Hudlin does he is a HUGE ASSET and they could use him. He is a force in the business. He is what they will need to get this movie right. Point man? LOL
I want him involved in some capacity.

With Hudlin in the mix, there'd be zero chance of the character of T'Challa or concept of Wakanda being watered down.
Reginald Hudlin would be the ultimate Point Man.

They are involving him the same way they involve Bendis/Quesada for the movies and Loeb for the TV side of things. Except Hudlin has way more experience with all of the mentioned things than all of them combined. This movie is in good hands.
I'm sure it's not lost on anyone in this thread. But there are some that play down his accumen and talents.

don't get me wrong I do like some of the things he has done for t'challa and I have learnt to appreciate his series more considering the fact that t'challa is basically facing some serious deconstruction in the new avengers but being a fan of the character won't really make it a good movie. some of the dialogue in some issues were just bad and I kept asking myself wtf? but on the other hand, there were some good moment like were he killed that alien werewolf with no gadgets and stuff. i would prefer both priest and hudlin to be working together. After all 2 heads are better than one

True so geeked dude!!!
This movie is going to be a cultural phenomenon imo. More than Blade due to the inherent commentary of this character on the ultimate potential of black people. This is also something we know but I can't wait to see how it resonates with people on a large scale and society as a whole. This is something that his built into the character.

are we sure that Hudlin will be involved in this? Isn't he working with DC on Static Shock?

I hear you but this is a different medium. This is where Hudlin lives. You'd want him to be some type of guiding force if you care about the character. HE cares about the character. Mistakes with dialogue be damned. Him not having a perfect showing shouldn't preclude him from working on the film. Hell they got BENDIS doing alot of BTS stuff with the whole MCU.

I mean Feige did hint strongly. We are just riffing on the implications of if he was.

Hudlin will already be ruining one thing I love. Please, Lord... Don't let him get near Panther... Again.

he could be involved in things like how t'challa's strength matches captain america, the type of gadgets he uses, telepotation device, energy shield and some others. As for the story, I would be REALLLLYYY carefull.
however, i do want to see this two things for the movie

For all we know he and the Russos are working on it. (The Russos could work on all of these and I wouldnt complain at all...)

I have no problem with Priest bein part of this project as well but what I object to is the predictable knee jerk reactions from a minority who love to run down Reginald Hudlin the one writer who actually generated the highest sales on an ongoing Black Panther book ever.
Dude actually works in Hollywood as an actual director and has zero problem coming up with viable work.
Ultimately, it's his unswerving commitment to the BP Mythos that endears him to me especially as unlike Priest, Hudlin actually wanted to write T'Challa from day one.

I want to give hudlin a chance i really do but when I look at what he has done in some of the issues, I'm just like bro are you serious.
I just don't want bp to be a commercial and a critical flop. That's how they will "oh we made a black panther movie but it's didn't work"
making the fans look like idiots
i just want the best for t'challa

I hear you but I have a hard time comparing comics to movies. Secondly, its not like he's at it alone if there were issues with hime theoretically writing it most of this stuff is actually written by committee. They wouldn't even approach Hudlin if he reeked of fail. Marvel has proven to me that even the most unexpected choices and even ones you don't think can cut it work out very well.
Hudlin is a one man army in the tv and film business. NOT using him or collaborating with him would be a mistake. I hava gut feeling that PRIEST is involved too.
I mean not to start rumors but that picture with the Russo's imo confirm that they were at least discussing the character and his interaction with Cap.
I want PRIEST to get his due and his story to get out to the world. Alot of these properties are due to his hard work all those years ago. People talk about Peter David but no one talks of PRIEST hiring him or giving him his first push
-
Hudlin is a good director, I was watching that new Taye Diggs showing a few months back and I was surprised when I saw his name in the credits. I just really don't care to see his take on BP again, If he didn't write BP I wouldn't be against this.
-
are we sure that Hudlin will be involved in this? Isn't he working with DC on Static Shock?
Feige said he was meeting with Hudlin and mentioned him as a possible director fo rthe movie
The Russo brothers were just seen meeting with Hudlin... which makes a hell of a lot of sense now that we know T'challa is going ot show up in Cap 3.
So yes... he is already involved. How much more he will be involved (whether as a consultant or director) remains to be seen.
Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of Hudlin's run in comparison to Priest or Liss but... the dude wrote BP in the comics. If he is involved... we are getting comic book T'challa, not some weak ass version of that.
Does anyone know if someone consulted with Yost during EMH? T'challa was nailed there too. Doesn't Yost do a lot of Marvels script stuff?

I just read on priest's blog that no one has reached him to do a script whats over so that's that
but we are still in early developments so anything can happen
ps:He didn't even know a bp film was going to happen

Yes he does. And this is my point. Theres alot of people working on these things over a long period of time.
Name a better point man than Hudlin?
-
When it comes to Hudlin, I'd rather he produce or work more as an adviser (or a "point man" or whatever). I want someone who will knock it out of the park directing wise. Someone that can make Black Panther look and feel like no other Marvel film. The Russo's did that with Cap 2, and Gunn did that with GotG.
I want a fresh approach in terms of writing and directing. Unique, noticeable off the first glance. I don't think that type of homerun would happen with Hudlin. I say they look for another up and coming director who's got a fresh perspective but with craft chops to smooth out the edges.
In short, it can't be the Thor movies.

I feel that too. But it's people saying he should stay away altogether which is craziness too.
My first choice would be the Russo's really.
