I'm surprised after Heimdall (who in myth was literally described as "the whitest of gods") any Asgardian of color would be controversial.
Between that and Dr. Strange, I think marvel seems to have a pretty large amount of latitude as far as race and gender bending of at least supporting characters. Main characters might be a different issue.

What are some of you guys feelings about Captain Universe becoming a love interest for TChalla. I see the character as a blank slate that could be molded into something great.
I could see a relationship with Tamara starting thru TChalla helping her get her life in order and thereby saving the universe. I just love her cosmic soul distance design.

Way too damaged and is in need of getting her life sorted out by another writer

You know how it goes. "Ruined my childhood. Political correctness ruining my superheroes." The same song and dance.
It was interesting b/c apparently Valkyrie is to have an expanded role in the post-phase 3 MCU and appear in other movies.. and they were really pushing her be a woman of color. They got their wake up call as far as more women of color as heroes and love interests.
The director himself is a man of color (Maori I believe) and said he didn't want his entire cast to be white people and Heimdall, so he purposefully looked at diverse women to play Valkyrie. I think Marvel has also finally cottoned on to how big a potential moneymaking demographic black women are.
I have tried to keep an open mind, I stayed middle road all the way up till issue 6 I believe or after it.. whenever he had that interview when he basically tried to Blame the long time fans for not liking his Bp and that they just want a perfect"awesome all the time" T'Challa or some stupid crap like that. Acting like long tine fans were being hard on the Book simply because they are set in their ways. That's bs and an insult to fans who have stuck through all the bs and appreciate the REAL scribes of Bp. Priest Hudlin, Liss, hell I would say McDuffie is more of a Bp scribe then Coates and he had him first starring in his FF run.
What you act like that, ontop of how he went about his story thus far and how much stupidity he had to throw at T'Challa to get his story to work, as well as Wakanda (rape camps, misogyny against women when there are multiple showings that say otherwise, really?) For his story, or how he just jumped into this story with little to no explanation of how Wakanda got to such a state.
After Sw ended AND Ultimates showed Wakanda leading the world to the Stars and being the beacon of light.. see where in going with all This? So I have little faith that he will provide anything good for this run, he is too concerned with making his agenda work and his pet characters that he will have T'Challa behave anyway to make the agenda and story fit. Character continuity be damned
Maybe if this run ends in a manner that is satisfying for all the bs T'Challa went through I will change my mind (I would love to be proven wrong) no benefit of the doubt from me
Don't really have terribly strong feelings for the character one way or the other, but I guess I'd be willing to give it a shot if they hypothetically went there.
That said, Captain Universe seems a bit too powerful to be a regular character in almost any book. I won't say she's impossible to use, but she'd be tricky.

The simplest solution would be that T'Challa uses shadow physics to essentially "seal" a huge portion of her power (which is also the reason she is so damaged because that much power is driving her insane literally) with a nullifier and so it brings down her power range but keeps her near cosmic and fixes her damaged self. Thus they start spending time together with T'Challa helping her with her developing her power similar to Hudlin's run with Monica
-
I think Captain Universe simply works better as an on-going flirtation in the Ultimates book... and not anything more than that. Otherwise, she's so OP you'd have to give her the Jean Grey / Phoenix force story arc... with BP playing the role of Cyclops. Or the Bendis-era Scarlet Witch arc... either one amounts to the same thing: ticking cosmic time bomb barely holding on control, while having whatever scaled down baseline powers.
Tho i guess that's not a bad trope to bring back, esp if the rest of the Marvel sandbox is willing to indulge. Does she still have her daughter? Last I remember of her, Stark found the kid.

I mean if they got together, there is the potential to have a later writer come in and pull a Jean grey story, but the point is to remove a vast amount of her power so that she is a near cosmic level when fully realized, but the uncontrollable power she has now gets reigned in. Hell T'Challa could have the Ultimates assist in it but it's his idea and plan that makes it work. He pulls out another Galactuseque plan
Dont want a walking plot device in a book regularly
Yeah, I appreciated the minor character development but even that existed to serve Hickman's plot. It would be unnecessarily complicating to make her a romantic interest to any character.

Then you'll have haters accusing T'Challa of neutering a powerful female character in much the same way as thefalsely accused him of doing with Ororo.

I'd like to see more of Capt Universe, but I'd not a fan of that pairing. It would be too much of an ill-matched couple.

Just to play devil's advocate though...if they decided to pair T'Challa with ( just to pick something kinda out there) say Gwen Stacy but in order to make them more compatible, they said BP would be going back to his Luke Charles school teacher ID, I think a lot of us would cry fowl.

Now that is some good news. john wick was legit (as was civil war of course).
Just watched CW again and man, they crammed a ton of action sequences into that movie. Lagos, Cap+Bucky vs poor swat dudes, Bucky v BP, Cap/Buck/BP chase, Manchurian Candidate Bucky, vision/hawk/wanda, airport fight, end fight
so many fisticufss, so glorious

Yes.
I do think that he won't be the only second unit director as they might bring in others for different scenes in the film

First on the Ultimate previews. I've never seen Tchalla so cherry. Its disturbing.
Second does anyone know when we're going to get some further information on BP:WoW.
Not really looking forward to it,just based off what I heard so far. Expectations are a little low on the second book success.

Why can't T'challa just be on the Avengers team wit Sam, Peter, Vision and Co
Why can't I have nice things? Why can't he fight Kang instead of "Eternity " or some other abstract garbage?
