All that just to take an unreasonable chance to blow 1.3 billion dollars on a failed follow up sequel movie!
Disney just put up 71 billion dollars for the Fox merger only to throw extra cash away to make a ratchet black reality show of Black Panther 2???
This is what happens when you legalize marijuana... Everybody gets high and has the muncheez! :p
After all the reboots and cancelations of all things Black Panther you finally get a definitive moneymaker and you want to tinker with something that makes no financial sense whatsoever!
Princess Shuri as depicted by Letitia Wright is straight cash money all up in the Disney Store right next to Snow White, Frozen, Little Mermaid and them... What is Queen Nakia worth then using Lupita's likeness forever and a day!
Wakanda has it's own Trinity in Nakia, Okoye and Shuri... What Bast has put together let no man put asunder!
I would personally rather see a super spy Nakia spinoff where T'challa shows up and "ruins her mission" much like Storm did when he was in Hell's Kitchen playing Radioshack Daredevil!
The deep south.
Mosquitos everywhichawhere biting exposed flesh... Yeah, that deep south.
Nakia captured (or so they thought) sat in the back of the large extended cabin monster pickup truck with a noose around her neck.
Grand Wizard of The KKK: "Boys, we's finna have us a lynching!"
The various members of the KKK in standard issue Bed Bath and Beyond white sheets hooted and hollered shooting their firearms in the air in agreement.
Nakia on a Wardog mission laughed to herself knowing full well they were leading her back to their secret hideout for an ambush they would not believe.
Suddenly the mighty gas guzzling pickup rammed to a complete stop jerking the passengers.
Grand Wizard of The KKK: "WTF... I just put a full tank of gas in this beast boys check the engine!"
Nakia sighed and shook her head angrily... Oh no he didn't and not again with those Kimoyo beads.
Fast Forward to after the Black Panther beat down because bad writers often never depict him doing feats on panel... You know that old chestnut! :o
T'challa: "Nakia I..."
Nakia: "Don't even bother freezing you keep ruining my missions!"
T'challa: "My mother has..."
Nakia: "Not buying it!"
T'challa: "Princess Shuri is..."
Nakia: "Nope just spoke to her moments before my capture!"
T'challa: "General Okoye..."
Nakia: "Is tracking my movements by satellite... NEXT!"
T'challa: "I broke a nail..."
Nakia: "Oh you poor baby!"
T'challa: "I just need a hug!"
Nakia: "Get over here!"
Grand Wizard of The KKK: "When you nigraz get finished making whoopies over there could you call an ambulance I can't feel nothin in my legs!"
Editors Note: Just trying to keep up with MoS and BoG who have had some excellent posts recently!

here's a soft pitch.
STORM: WALKABOUT
Storm is, by nature, a balanced, peaceful person who prefers quiet and summoning with nature *partly due to the nature of her mutation). Over the yers, we've seen glimpses of this but, for this first arc, we focus in. After all the recent and basically constant battles between humans and mutants and mutants and other mutants and mutants and inhumans and dan it, ENOUGH. Ororo is cracking a little. Not breaking under the strain but, instead, dropping the full goddess hammer on EVERY opponent even when it's not warranted.
Our lady needs a break.
She tells all this to her ex-husband, now friend with benefits, T'Challa who ABSOLUTELY understands the need to get away sometimes. He offers her a "step disk" a non-teleportational travel device that allows her to "slide" any distance, using the earth's rotation and magnetosphere. This means she can't be tracked by friends or foes. He also offers her a Wakandan stealth sheath. Unlike an image inducer, which changes visual appearance only, the stealth sheath will mask her mutant signature and modify her physical characteristics so she can blend with regular humans (white straight hair modified to something negroid, blue yes to dark green or brown). She now looks the ay she would if she wasn't a mutant.
He offers to travel with her but him being with her defeats the purpose. She just wants to be alone.
She walks and flies back up to Kenya, to touch base with her mom's ancestral home and then, because she's never really explored that side of her heritage, flips over to the US to look into her father's side. This takes her down to Louisiana, a place still dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes and the expectation of more to come. She digs in, meets some nice folks and then, inadvertently, pisses off the Loa when she makes a teeny tiny change to the local weather conditions.
As punishment, the Loa destroy her slide device and make her artificial changes permanent, also, until they feel she's paid off her punishment, no one she's ever known will know her. She's magically blanketed from all their memories. Storm wanted some alone time? She wanted some time off? Now she's got both in spades. She's still got her powers and her skills but that's all.
he seeks out Jericho Drumm for assistance and the two of them embark on a journey across the US, the Caribbean, Africa and at least two other dimensions to break the Loa's curse. Maybe they even fall in love a little bit.
That's my Storm series first arc. 12 to 14 issues.
personally i never liked the marriage. by putting them together you undercut your ability to bring out new characters and unique rogues galleries for both.
If it were up to me, Storm would have her OWN book with her OWN secondary characters and villains and her OWN, unique, original love interest(s) that had nothing to do with anyone but her. Same with the Panther.
By combining them you cut your story potential in half.
That's just me.
I agree but not because of new characters and rogues, but rather because they belong to two different franchises and depending on the popularity of the characters, it causes alot of conflict of interest. But if there was a willingness to work with Hudlin rather then troll the marriage it does open up new story angles that cannot be explored otherwise
I think it could work now because Storm doesn't have a Solo and hasn't gotten any developments from x office in the recent years. That being said that ship has sailed and they need to part ways.

That's not a bad pitch at all. It would be worth checking out, if simply for the fact that I think you would do a go job

Redjack...
12 to 14 issues is a little over a year... Make it 36 issues so that she is tied up for at least 3 years and unavailable for any other franchise! (hint hint)

Reginald Hudlin had no problem portraying both characters in a balanced manner when he wrote them as a married couple.
Dwayne McDuffie did the same really well too so it's not as if it was impossible.
I just wish this Storm issue would stop cropping up in this thread.
T'challa rarely gets mentioned in the Storm Appreciation Thread and you definitely won't find any T'challa-centric scans taking up mad space in the aforementioned Storm thread.

yeah. we're not required to agree on every point. i thought it was an error then and i think it's an error now. Dwayne could make any story point sing, no matter how misguided. We just differ on that. I think every character that merits a solo book should have their own rogues gallery, their own supporting characters and their own reason for being that sets them apart from other solo heroes.
At the time of the marriage Storm was just one of many Xmen and BP had supported MULTIPLE books over decades. She fit into his story because no one had figured out how to make her stand on her on in a solo book. I think she can carry her own book so I'm, PERSONALLY, not interested in promoting her as supporting cast for BP. Which is what she was. The book is called Black Panther, not BP and Storm. She would always be second tier. I think she deserves better than that.
Mileage varies.

Redjack what day job... Nobody works out here in LA money grows on palm trees and we just pick it and stare at back to back sunsets!
This Southern California heatwave has been working a brotha even my light saber melted in my hands... DAYUM!!!
You know it's hot when your dog won't go outside and will just hold it until night time comes and things cool off!
I hereby blame this Southern California heat and the recent past drought on Storm... Get on your grind girl you slipping! ;)
She can still theoretically have most of that if she gets her own book (minus the original love interest part if she's married). Luke Cage and Jessica Jones for example, can still tell relatively separate stories in their own solo books even though there is cross over.
But until Storm gets her own book, it's sort of wishful thinking anyways. Hopefully they do give her another shot. Until them, I'm honestly good seeing her in X-Men and Black Panther and any other book that wants to use her.
Luke nor his wife are X-Men.
Neither belong to a franchise. They are their own people.
There is no Luke Cage nor Jessica office to throw shade on each other. Nor would those two be in the middle of some event.
Also both of them had the SAME writer build them up together. Bendis did not have to answer to another office.

Because they have nothing to talk about there. Other than argue over Jean, Power levels and so on. Since Panther's book is the only place she gets anything type of development-it gets talked here.
As Redjack pointed out this does not do her any type of justice. Cage & Jessica work because they have their own books or starred in a book that allowed it to be about the both of them.
Whose fault is all this? Her franchise. Because no one else should have to build up YOUR franchise's characters. If they do-let them go and make sure they never get mentioned in your franchise like what we saw with Prodigy.

I'm reviewing a second issue in a single day because I skipped yesterday.
Marvel Premiere #52 - Journey Through the Past

This episode starts with the dead body of Wind Eagle. We find out he was a Dominican man from New York who engaged in crime and then turned over a new leaf and joined the Spiritual Light Society. The SLS is apparently the Dragon Circle. When leaving, T'Challa notices they're being followed and a car chase ensues. It's not as exciting as the one in the Black Panther movie, but has an old time French Connection vibe to it with people jumping out of the way, etc. Still, there's a fun moment where T'Challa leaps out of the moving car straight up to hang onto an overpass to ambush his pursuers. He then lands on the car and hangs on as the Wakandans lead them into a trap. Ed Hannigan is definitely trying for a noir vibe, even going as far as to call one of the bad guys a gunsel (we won't tell him what that term originally meant). Once again, there's a sniper in the wings to kill off any of the bad guys before they talk.
Turns out the bad guys in this one are the Klan. T'Challa infiltrates their meeting. They also know who the Reverend is - Mr. Addison, who the Klansman helpfully explains was part of their organization. Apparently, the Klan he is making them look bad. He pretended to be a member of the Klan to finance some real estate deals that he used to finance the Dragon Circle. If I understand this correctly (and taken at face value since there is an unreliable narrator component here), Angela discovered what Addison was doing for the Klan in the name of the Klan and that was why she was killed.
Then, for some strange fucking reason, the Soul Strangler from Monica's mom's story shows up. They're trying to imply he's really a ghost or something. There's very much a Phantom Rider vibe to him. T'Challa jumps on top of him to remove his mask and he melts away in a cloud of smoke. Then T'Challa, Monica, Kevin Trublood, and Taku travel to Georgia to end this thing once and for all. And, hey, apparently Monica and Kevin are dating now!
I liked the first half of this issue quite a bit. It's filled with a 70s movie vibe that really works. I didn't love the convoluted explanation, but we have another issue for possibly a clearer explanation.
