I emailed Image and asked when they are going to continue releasing more of the regular Spawn hardcovers. They said they stopped because they were not selling enough and they may continue releasing more when the movie comes out. Apparently they are working on a new Spawn movie.
Yeah, I think that was announced awhile back or maybe it was just rumored. I'm not sure. I was never a big Spawn fan. Over the years I probably read the first 50 or so issues and then I read the Dark Ages and Hellspawn (since Bendis wrote it), but the only series I ever really liked that was connected to it was Sam and Twitch. That said, I think they should released some omnibus style collections of the series. I'm sure those would sell.

This week's arrivals. Seriously don't know which one to read first.

I have the Sam and Twitch trades. Though they are mismatched, I have the Sam and Twitch Udaku trade and then volume two of the complete collection... so I may do.

I remember stopping collecting Spawn at issue 50 up till then I pretty y much collected everything image, even the really shitty stuff like Shadow Hawk, then I decided most of the stuff they were churning out was crap, so dropped Image all together, so it was a surprise to find out, after returning to serious collecting that Image was the go to place for good creator owned stuff (although I have found that some of their new stuff is just as shit as the old stuff)
Anyone have a list of Image oversized editions? Making it a goal to collect everything Image that's been published in deluxe/library format by the end of 2016.
I made such lists a while ago. You can find the links in the first post of this thread. And for the Image comics stuff: they begin here

What is East of West? The premise? I've always liked your taste in independent books, so I figure it's probably good.

Yeah, in the 90s there was a big emphasis on the art and during the past 10-15 years there's been a real focus on the writing. For the most part I hated the 90s Image. It's funny, though, as I never bought any of it when it came out, but somehow managed to read a lot of it years later. I will say that I really liked Savage Dragon. I read the first 100-120 (ish) issues. Haven't read any since but I'm not opposed to - just haven't.
There's a lot of good Alan Moore gems in Image obviously, and WildCats - When Moore wrote it - and Joe Casey took over is arguably the best stuff Image did in its first decade. (Note, I only include Moore and Casey.) Oh yeah, and Stormwatch under Ellis is pretty awesome.

Yeah I recently read through the first issue that I apparently got free on comixology at some point and it definitely made me want to pick it up soon myself as well.

Thanks, but I actually haven't read it yet. It was the recommendations from this forum again (plus the fact that it's Hickman) that made me buy it.

Had to go with Ms. Marvel (next to Men of Wrath shortest read, so I would be able to begin another book on the same day) and then Paco Roca, who is quickly becoming one of my favourite artist/writers. He has this deceptively simple-looking style, similar to Born Again- Mazzucchelli, David Aja or Emmanuel Guibert, which in actuality shows amazing craftmanship. And it's about WW II, so I couldn't very well leave that for a whole week or so.
How's the paperstock in the Bacchus Omnibus? I'm not sure to buy it yet
Very good. It's about 500 pages and a TPB, so you can guess from the comparison with the other books that the paper is thick enough.
Speaking of quality paperstock: the book at the top ("Die Heimatlosen") only has about 50 more pages than the Ms. Marvel HC, but look at how thick it is compared to the latter.

Are the Blacksad hardcovers oversized?

Depends what you mean. Theyre bigger than your standard US comic. Though i believe DH published them in their standard native size.

There has been a Top Shelf HC (which I have) and a knockabout HC. No idea if they were limited or still in print...
edit: And there's a signed/numbered Graphitti HC, good luck finding one of those for a decent price ;)

There is a library binding as well.

Isn't that just a SC converted into a HC? I'm never quite sure what these are...
-
Isn't that just a SC converted into a HC? I'm never quite sure what these are...
yeah they are, still more durable than a sc. I have the Bone library binding and while it's not perfect (especially the binding looked a bit weak) I still prefer it to the sc.

And then there's the edition hand-bound by Campbell limited to under 20 copies. That one's the rare one;)

Yes, I got one a few months back off CGN. I don't have the companion, so if the clip case was HC, I would have sold it to buy that.

Hey Guys/Gals,
Can anyone give me some more information on the Dark Tower collections/omnibi?
I have just finished the first Dark Tower book (awesome) and I plan on reading the rest. I know some of the comics are adaptions of the books and some are prequels? of things not in the books, is that correct?
Can someone clue me in on which hardcovers I should get? Not looking for TPBs. I dont want to search online too much cause I dont want to accidentally spoil the story.
-
The best way to go for hardcovers would be the first omnibus (The Dark Tower) and the second omni (Dark Tower: The Gunslinger). The first one covers the events of the fourth novel, Wizard and Glass, which takes place first chronologically because it is a flashback to Rolands youth. It also expands further than the novel. The second omni covers the first novel, The Gunslinger, and also expands some things. Also both omnis come with a large companion book full of special features.

Read the books like this:
Novel 1
Novel 2
Novel 3
Novel 4
Novel 5
Novel 6
Novel 7
"The Wind Through the Keyhole."
The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born Omnibus
The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Omnibus.
The thing about the Dark Tower series is that they tend to build upon each other as they release. They reference information you learn later in the core series, even if the book in question (Keyhole, either Omnibus) technically take place before the point in the series where you originally learn the information or concept.

Could anyone tell me if there is any particular edition of The Incal, and it's sequels, that I should track down? When I first found out about it in college it had been long out of print but them today I walked into my LCBS and saw several copies in the featured section. I then proceeded to look it up online and it looks like over the past few years it has seen several different editions. I enjoy a nice OHC but I'm not one to pay upwards of $100 for a single volume.
