i hope this doesn't end up with Frank being demolished by the various other Avengers. I get sick of that dynamic of 'we have to stop this maniac once and for all'... sheesh..

I highly recommend the Rucka run on Punisher + War Zone mini to anyone who hasn't read it. Also make sure you get the ASM and DD installments in the crossover.
A Rucka Punisher Omni is on my want list.

It's going to come down to him and Tony.

Agreed. Omega Effect was so good.
I've not read the issue yet, it is in my pile. I'll just say that Rucka tackled this theme/topic at the end of his run which was collected as the 5 issue mini War Zone.
I'll be curious to juxtapose this issue vs that one. Details I can recall then have Thor and Black Widow in Frank's camp. Logan was indifferent. Widow even allows him to escape her. Iron Man and Spider-man were the vocal anti-Frank members in that incarnation of the team. Being post Civil War Steve was not around.
I caught up on Rosenberg's run and now I'm reading War Zone again because of the way that Rosenberg is hitting the same beats (he even wears Iron Man armor in that story, too). Definitely wouldn't say that Black Widow was in Frank's camp; she chased him down pretty viciously right until the end, and she only lets him go when the choice came down to completing her mission or saving a camp of child soldiers. Thor and Wolverine both try to talk him down, with Wolverine getting more upset and actively helping Frank escape.
Surprisingly, Cap is the first one to agree with Spider-Man that they need to chase Frank down, which I thought was interesting in light of their collaboration during Civil War. Rucka also has Natasha address Frank like they were meeting for the first time, but they've definitely crossed paths more than a couple times (they even had a team-up graphic novel).
I'm really curious about how this next arc is going to play out, because out of all lines that Frank has crossed, this might be the biggest. He's coming hot off of his (admittedly weird) Hydra collaboration, he committed a crazy act of terrorism (killing scores of soldiers and a globally recognized foreign head of state), and top it all off, he's doing it in the armor of a beloved dead hero. Carol is furious at him (like Spider-Man was when Frank used his web blasters in the job that got him framed for killing cops), and she got a pretty big team to back her up.
I also think it's interesting that Natasha of all people is teaming up with him later. Each time they meet, their dynamic is a little different, but she generally falls in with popular opinion on the Punisher whenever she sees him. Rosenberg writes a particularly murderous Black Widow so maybe he sees her being a lot more comfortable with his killing, but I'm interested to see whether he has her think differently about his Hydra stint and Chernaya.
Of course, everybody tells me "go read the Rucka run" *after* I get back from a geographically difficult comic shop that I only visit a few times a year.
Their inventory is amazing. But, the time and effort of getting their makes regular trips prohibitive. They did not have any of my priority items. But, they had a few secondaries. Trips there are never wasted. And, they likely would have the Rucka "Punisher" run... Ah well, maybe later in the summer.

I wonder how much of this is that the character is not defined enough for the writers to feel bound, and how much is intentionally portraying Black Widow as unprincipled (which she absolutely is).

I wonder how long the characters will "remember" that stuff. Clearly, they remember it in this run. But, it is rare for stuff from one event to be remembered more than one or two events later. (Hey, remember when Speedball's feckless antics resulted in hundreds of deaths, and he was legitimately penitent? Don't worry. Nobody else does either.)

Black Widow? Undefined? Unprincipled? Hogwash! ;) She's been around long enough to make her character stick, and I think she's pretty principled, even if her principles seem oblique and and hard to figure out -- Rucka's War Zone does a good job of playing them out. (Seriously, read his run!) It's just interesting to me, because, looking back at it, she's similar to Daredevil in how she's been (begrudgingly) teamed up with and set against the Punisher in equal measure.

Yeah, I guess this is a big thing for heroes and anti-heroes. They seem to have forgotten his status quo at the end of Rucka's run pretty quickly, too. I dunno, though, what happened in Chernaya was legitimately crazy and is the sort of thing that should really prompt attention from than just Carol Danvers, if we're being honest. It's the sort of thing that stays in history books.

I am putting Rucka's run in the same category as Hickman's "Fantastic Four". If I can find the damned thing, I will read it.

This is common problem for comics. How much of what has happened in NYC has actually stuck? (Remember when demons were eating babies right out maternity wards? Nobody else does either.) Why is Atlantis allowed to survive? (Alternatively, how many times can Atlantis be destroyed?)

Read Punisher 224 last night and I enjoyed it a lot.
My favorite part would be the panels with Daredevil as he has history there. The grudge match with Carol over "her dead boyfriends suit" didn't excite me so much but I get Carol's motivation.
I've not seen USAgent in some time, where has he been since getting his legs back(which I forget how that even happened now).
Looking forward to 225!
If someone had told me a year ago that "the Punisher" would be one of my favorite comics, I would have thought them quite mad. But, dang, this is a good series.

I always felt Frank's best stories were when he was integrated cleverly into the larger MCU. Otherwise, it just feels like a cookie cutter vigilante story to me. This is a PHENOMENAL way to have him interacting with the "capes."

I am so psyched for this. Just great stuff.
Wooo!! #225 is one kick ass read!
I don't know if it's the single best issue of Punisher ever 'cause there's a lot of competition for that but, man, it's definitely gunning for that spot.
Seeing Frank use his wits to stay ahead of the superhero community is so goddamn satisfying. And he's killing a sh*t ton of criminals here, which is also satisfying.
If you've been loving this storyline so far, it's safe to say you're gonna keep on loving it! Awesome issue!!

I knew from the preview it was going to be epic. I love when Frank uses his wits to outsmart the heroes too.
