It’s Monica mom in the movie!!

Good. I preferred the previous actress (DeWanda Wise) who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. This allows her to play Monica in the present. I mean, just look at how perfect she is:

Maria, who apparently has a young daughter. Well, that kid - who of course is Monica - will probably become Spectrum in the sequel then!

Agreed! That’s exactly what I thought too haha.
So Uatu's wife is Ulana and the godfather to Uatu's son is Blue Marvel? Thanks for the info!

Captain Marvel's mom as an air force pilot is to me marvelous.

It is great to me to read for it to be possible to have the actress play Captain Marvel in the present day.
That means that there are big chances for Monica to appear in future Marvel films :D :D
The Ultimates are really happening, huh? I'm more confident than ever.

Maria Rambeau's aviator call sign should have been Warbird.

I think there are a few actresses who would do a great job portraying Monica. I'm sure they'll get it right no matter who they pick.

Dang it, I really do not want to watch this movie...now I feel like i have too.
Dang it, I really do not want to watch this movie...now I feel like i have too.
If Monica and/or family play a fairly significant role in the movie, I'll have to watch it. I want to reward good behavior, even if it is an obvious lure to draw in a viewing demographic that would otherwise pass on the movie.
well, its' certainly nice. Though I hope that her dad isn't dead, here. We'll see.

I'm sure that won't happen. Keep in mind it's Carol's movie and most of it set in space. I'm sure any Air Force stuff will be a brief flashback. It's unlikely there's going to be much involving a support character's background.
Dang it, I really do not want to watch this movie...now I feel like i have too.
Well, let's keep thing in perspective...it's not a movie about "The Rambeaus"
Maria Rambeau's aviator call sign should have been Warbird.
Why? That name was Carol's, not Monica's. Would make more sense as Carol's call sign.
Maria, who apparently has a young daughter. Well, that kid - who of course is Monica - will probably become Spectrum in the sequel then!
I think she's more likely to call herself Photon, which is why they put that name there. They'll probably say she took the name as a homage to her mother.
Anyway, really excited about the confirmation that the Rambeaus exist in the MCU!
Maria Rambeau's aviator call sign should have been Warbird.
"Warbird" has a very specific meaning, and would not be appropriate as a call sign for actual active duty military personnel.
Why? That name was Carol's, not Monica's. Would make more sense as Carol's call sign.
Why, for the sake of irony, of course.
"Warbird" has a very specific meaning, and would not be appropriate as a call sign for actual active duty military personnel.
Yes, I know. But for a good, "Oh, no they didn't!", I'd do it.
I'm sure that won't happen. Keep in mind it's Carol's movie and most of it set in space. I'm sure any Air Force stuff will be a brief flashback. It's unlikely there's going to be much involving a support character's background.
I don't doubt that Monica and/or her family will be more than a snippet. Once I found out, I'll make that determination at that time. Movies go so quickly from the cinema to DVD/streaming platforms these days that it wouldn't kill me to wait. Like I did with the Deadpool and Justice League movies.

She's too attractive, they dont want someone better looking than Brie Larson.
Why was her father removed from her back story? The bloggers are saying that she's raised by a single mother in this?

I really hope that's not the case.
That's straight from the EW article.
The film also introduces Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, one of Carol’s oldest friends. She’s a top-notch Air Force pilot with the call sign “Photon,” and she’s also a single mother to a young daughter.
Well, they better have a good explanation as to what happened to her father. I really liked that dynamic.
I'm sure that won't happen. Keep in mind it's Carol's movie and most of it set in space. I'm sure any Air Force stuff will be a brief flashback. It's unlikely there's going to be much involving a support character's background.
Keep in mind most of the film is not set in space. They will set up Monica Rambeau with her mother.

Monica is 100% going to be in the MCU. They would not put her mother in the MCU if not, it's no point then
so does young Monica follow her mom's example and join the Air Force?
what becomes of her New Orleans roots? I guess we'll have to see...
what becomes of her New Orleans roots? I guess we'll have to see...
As long as there's mention that either her mom or dad hailed from New Orleans, or we see a serving of hot steaming gumbo, that's enough for me.
Just how old is Carol supposed to be in the movie, if Monica's mom is counted as her colleague, friend and contemporary?
Just how old is Carol supposed to be in the movie, if Monica's mom is counted as her colleague, friend and contemporary?
Unclear, but definitely older than she looks if he hasn't visually aged since the 90's.
"Warbird" has a very specific meaning, and would not be appropriate as a call sign for actual active duty military personnel.
"Appropriate" and Military don't really go together and a lot calls signs of them are teasing the person.
Just how old is Carol supposed to be in the movie, if Monica's mom is counted as her colleague, friend and contemporary?
I'm going to assume that Carol and Maria are probably supposed to be 30-ish in the 90's. That way if Monica ever does appear in an upcoming movie, it'll make sense that she'll be an adult now. They'll probably explain Carol still looking young because of all the years she spent in deep space...if I understand the Theory of Relativity correctly, the further you get from the Earth, the slower time moves.

I'm pretty hopeful for Monica but they've used Tina Minoru and Helen Cho in MCU movies but I haven't seen Nico or Amadeus in any movies yet, so grain of salt.

While Frank is supportive of his daughter's super heroics, Maria had difficulties letting Monica risk her life after years spent worrying about her husband in his dangerous occupation.
I'm pretty hopeful for Monica but they've used Tina Minoru and Helen Cho in MCU movies but I haven't seen Nico or Amadeus in any movies yet, so grain of salt.
But they didn't have "Sister Grimm" or "Amadeus" as their respective call signs. Just sayin'
Also, I think Amadeus was being set up before they knew they could use Peter Parker in the MCU. As for Nico, she went straight to streaming.

Actually, that's not quite right. The theory of relativity in that instance actually refers to proximity to an intense source of gravity, i.e., a blackhole, not the Earth. If you put a man in a spacecraft and send him to, say, the moon, well the amount of time spent for the man in a normal, non-hyperspatial or faster than light craft, and for the observer on earth is the same. (We chart that sort of thing with satellites now.) The same applies if you were sending the same person in a craft to Mars, or Saturn, etc.
Now if we're talking about the relative distinction between a solar year on Earth vs., say, a solar year on Jupiter, well, I get your point. But even then, we're talking more like human years vs. dog years when you think about it. Just because it takes about 12 Earth years to orbit the sun doesn't mean that a human being born on Jupiter would live 12 times longer than a person born on Earth. The human body just doesn't work that way. Our bodies have a natural thanatotic trigger. We have a shelf life that can't be defied. Our minds break down, our bodies breakdown, etc., etc.
If I had to guess, if Carol is as old as Monica's mother they're attributing her longevity to her part Kree, part Human physiology.

Ok, that's what I got mixed up.
so can Monica absorb the Speed Force from DC? Also the various light spectrum powers from the Lanterns. That would be a nice stunt to see..
