That trial is responsible for OJs third murder- the TV show Gargoyles. Obviously a lesser loss than two actual human lives, the trial constantly preempting regular television spelled death to a show that required the audience staying engaged.
I maintain the increased attention on Robert Kardashian led to his family making their way in reality TV.
Robert MacNeil, urbane anchor who founded ‘PBS NewsHour,’ dies at 93
I thought he already died.
Had he passed away, say, 1992, I would have been very moved by the death of O.J. As a kid back in the '70s, Joe Willie and the Juice were my favorite football players. When I was playing football with the guys, I would emulate those two depending on what position I was playing. BTW, my favorite actor in The Towering Inferno was, yep, him, despite his limited thespian skills. IOW, he was a sports god to me.
Having said that, he didn't pass away in 1992 but in 2024, so I honestly don't care.
RIP Nicole and Ron
Exactly. Had he died in the very early 1990s, he would be remembered as one of the all-time great football players and a decent comedy actor. But, he was so obviously guilty based on overwhelming evidence that he is now only remembered as the murderer who got away with it and that eclipses everything else.

Maybe you're thinking of Jim Lehrer, who died in 2020? They were co-anchors for 20 years.

I saw him a year or two before he got kicked out of the Allman Brothers Band years ago. Man, they were great.
RIP

A song written by Dickey Betts (Dec 12, 1943 - Apr 18, 2024). May the Ramblin' Man rest in peace at last.
The writer of The New York Trilogy, Leviathan and 4 3 2 1 – known for his stylised postmodernist fiction – has died from complications of lung cancer
Auster was better known in Europe than in his native United States: “Merely a bestselling author in these parts,” read a 2007 New York magazine article, “Auster is a rock star in Paris.” In 2006, he was awarded Spain’s Prince of Asturias prize for literature, and in 1993 he was given the Prix Médicis Étranger for Leviathan. He was also a Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Loved his version of the Peter Gunn theme. The original BTW, the Henry Mancini version, had John Williams on piano. Eddy's guitar on his version was sublime as always. That twang...so great. RIP to a giant of music.

Oh damn, this one hurts, RIP to Bernard Hill, King Theoden from Lord of the Rings. He WAS King Theoden, he said the lines so beautifully, and he came across as one of the most decent characters in a cast filled with them. This one brought a few tears to my eyes.
