That's a very open question, so it's hard to know how to answer. Are you more interested in collecting cosmic/mythological/X-Men/Avengery/funny/dramatic/"important" books. Happy to help if I can.
Also, are you collecting books, or digitally?

Depends on how you are collectiNG books or digitally
Do you like teams/solos/duos
do you want classic or newer stories
Do you want stories everyone likes or ones we like an example depending on who you ask Brian Michel Bendis avengers is bad but i quite like it where someone could say Hickman and i'm not that fond of it.
You asked a little over an hour ago and most people are asleep at this time. You're probably going to have to be patient.
As to your question I have no idea.
Ah, sorry. I'm in the UK, should have noted the time difference.

I'd be collecting books. I'm interested in The Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man... I'm hoping to find some graphic novels with some of the main story lines or collection of important issues. Anything like that really. I've listed a few examples in the OP, if anyone has any of experience of any of them or could recommend them that'd be great.
I would say start with the official graphic novel collection. It acts like a greatest hits collection and gives a wide range of story lines from cosmic to normal avengers. Start there and if you particularly like one story, try and find the ones that continue it.
For example, the next two out are: the coming of Galactus (a cosmic ff story) and one that collects some early Iron man stories.
Your gonna have quite a lot of catching up to do though, issue 69 just came out.

Annoyingly they only start from 56 now, I might have a look on eBay and see if I can get the first few issues, thanks.
If you can cope with reading digitally, then Marvel Unlimited gives you access to an enormous amount of Marvel's back catalogue, (it's only 6 months out of date) for $10/month. It's one of the few really good deals you can get as an overseas comics fan.
I use it to catch up on stories and only collect hard copies if I really love the art and writing. It's also a good way of working out which creators you like.
Hey guys, I'm just wondering if New Warriors was any good for those of you who are reading it. I wasn't initially excited for the Series, but I am now really excited since now that I know that Kaine is in the Series. I really love Kaine, and I was really disappointed to know that his Series has ended. I'm really happy that he's in this, but I don't want to go into it blind. Also, I love Chris Yost, so I see that is another plus on the Series so far, but I honestly still don't know if I should get it. So, is it any good? If it is, should I get issue 1 and work my way up, or is it ok to start with the current issue? Thanks for the help guys!
Hi, everyone!
I'm new here. I've never been into comics, but seeing recent movies on them has raised my curiosity of going through them. Currently, I'm planning on reading both Marvel and DC chronologies, but I guess I'll start with Marvel.
Now, although I've made up my mind of reading them, I cannot seem to find a proper roadmap as to from where I should start. Can someone of you veterans will be kind enough to put me in the right direction? Like what should I get if I want to read everything from scratch. That'd be highly appreciable!
To mods: I don't know whether I've posted it in the right section or not. Please move it to the right section!
Thank you! I'll await your response!
Lots of places to look. You can get Ominbus collections. Find trades that carry a run of stories. Go to your local comic shop and ask them what they have.
May as well start with Marvel Now! and All-New Marvel Now! #1s. That's the start of all the status quos.

I was getting it but had to drop it due t budget and there are other titles I like better. It was a pretty good read, I think it will continue to get better. I would start at #1 as it isn't that far into the series. Kaine is pretty much the same as he was in his own title. He needs more page time IMO.

In what characters are you interested in? Because big characters like Iron man and Captain America go back more than 50 years and it's impossible to start from scratch. However, if you're interested in Guardians of the Galaxy, that franchise (in its current state) started halfway the 00s and is easy to catch up to. I highly recommend Marvel Unlimited if you don't mind reading comics on a computer screen. For Guardians of the Galaxy you should just read Annihilation Conquest (where the Guardians formed), Guardians of the Galaxy (the 2008 run) and then you can read the 2013 run altough many think it's not that good.
