Anybody know if Shadowman is over? I'm looking on the site and the only thing they have coming is the #1-10 hardcover. I'm just about to read End Times #3.
Most likely it is just on hold for the time being. So far there has been no statement from Valiant that the series has stopped, that I know of.

Ya Shadowman stopped. I sure hope they do something with him again though. I am reading it too and I love it so far. Dr. Mirage is from that series and so is Punk Mambo and Dr. Mirage is getting a mini and Mambo is getting a one-shot. You should check those when they come out.

OMG! I was about to post a thread for Valiant comics!! Ok I'm really excited haha...so someone posted a couple days ago in a different section on these forums that Valiant rebooted their universe...so I got excited and dove right in...I purcashed the first 6 issues of Harbinger and two of X-O Manowar...any other titles you guys suggest? Im reading through comixology so I think these are the 2012 series Im currently reading...I really like Harbinger so far...has there been a major cross over or event or something I should be aware of going forward? Thanks guys
-
The first "event" was a crossover between Harbinger and Bloodshot called Harbinger Wars.
We're currently in the midst of this years event; Armor Hunters, which has tie-ins to X-O Manowar and Unity, plus related minis of Harbinger and Bloodshot.
As for recommendations id go for Archer & Armstrong or Quantum & Woody.

Adding to that... Peter Milligan supposedly has a long arc mapped out for Shadowman, but that is all Valiant will say. I imagine the Punk Mambo one shot is part of that, and maybe will see more Shadowman next year.

Welcome! You should try Archer & Armstrong and Rai, too, for sure.
Unity is pretty awesome as well, but get caught up on XO and Harbinger a bit first since characters from there are featured in it.
Honestly you can't go wrong with any VALIANT books. Quantum & Woody and Shadowman have been my least favorite, but they are both still pretty good. Bloodshot and Eternal Warrior are definitely worth a read too.
-
Highly doubt it's "over" for good. The Punk Mambo one-shot will more than likely effectively be a continuation of the Shadowman story.
-
Yeah... shadowman is a cornerstone of the valiant u... He won't be gone for long.
-
Shadowman's totally done guys. I mean, there's a chance that it might come back, but it's gonna be a while, and it's going to be drastically different. Valiant is very focused on putting out high quality books, rather than being only concerned with sales, and Shadowman has been the only title to be consistently berated by fans and critics. I get a strong impression that Valiant is wanting to move on.

Nice dude! I'm a new fan as well. Every single one of their titles are pretty amazing (well.. besides Shadowman and Eternal Warrior).
As for what you should read next.. it really all depends on what you're into man. My favorites are Harbinger, Archer & Armstrong, Quantum & Woody, and Rai.
If you like crazy, violent, action stuff, get Bloodshot.
If you're into sci-fi, get X-O Manowar.
If silly, ridiculous, straight-up comedy is your thing get Quantum & Woody. It's f***ing hilarious.
Archer & Armstrong is pretty funny as well, but it's more comic book-y. It switches between serious and ridiculous frequently. (in the second volume there's seriously a shootout while they're all driving golf karts)
I'd actually most recommend just getting all the first issues for free, then continuing whichever ones you liked most. I've read the entirety of Shadowman, Eternal Warrior, and Rai; 2 volumes of Q&W; and the first 3 volumes of everything else, so if you have any questions I'd love to answer. :) Happy reading!
EDIT:
has there been a major cross over or event or something I should be aware of going forward?
Yea.
Harbinger Wars has a mini and starts on Harby 11 and Bloodshot 10. I just finished it, and it was fantastic!!
Unity is an ongoing that spins out of X-O at issue 19.
Mission: Improbable is a tiny four-issue crossover between A&A (18) and Bloodshot (20).
And finally.. Armor Hunters which has 3 minis and starts with X-O 26 and Unity 8. Apparently it's awesome. Haven't got to it yet.

I highly doubt Shadowman will be gone for long. Its just taking a break, along with Harbinger, A&A, Q&W and Eternal Warrior so Valiant can put out new titles whilst keeping their overall publications down.
-
Speaking of Eternal Warrior--I think I've said this before but once I got over the fact that the comic's focus was not what I had originally expected/hoped for, I found that I really enjoyed the comic that was actually produced. I'd be very happy with more future/past EW stories if they stay of the same quality. That being said I'm really looking forward to The Valiant which I think will be the book I was hoping that EW would have been in the fist instance.

I really loved Shadowman, I just finished the last issue and I thought it was all done well. Some of the issues were meh, but I have read far worse. I enjoyed all of it. I am sure he will be back, be it in his own title again or on a team, or show up in a mini some place (Dr. Mirage or Punk Mambo maybe). I don't think he is done, done. I would hope Valiant is better then that, to just never use a character again in some way.
Maybe I am crazy, but I did not see much done wrong with Shadowman. But oh well.

One possibly wrong thing they did was completely fail to tie him into the rest of their universe. In my opinion it also completely failed to capture the occult/voodoo vibe of the original series. It read more like a pure superhero comic and on that level was pretty generic. It wasn't bad, but it was pretty disappointing relative to the rest of their line and to the legacy of the character. Also, it seems a lot of folks didn't like the direction it took in the last mini.
-
I do agree they should have added him more into the universe, it did lack that feeling. Maybe they can fix that next time around.
-
I also just noticed that Harbinger Omegas 2 has been delayed from tomorrow to the 24th. That's the first official delayed comic in their line I think (there was another delay due to a snowstorm impacting Diamond if I recall, but I don't count that against Valiant). I wonder if they did that to allow the balance of Armor Hunters: Harbinger to play out? If so, that makes some sense. I'm sitting on #1 until then anyhow.
And for some reason DCBS shorted me a copy of Dr. Mirage (which got a good review on CBR today). Hopefully that will be quickly rectified.
