DC's solicits have always been freaking terrible. Is it deluxe oversized, standard hardcover, softcover? What issues are actually collected in the book? What's the page count? If the issues collected in the book are right, how is that page count right? Etc., etc. What tends to really piss me off is they then want everybody to preorder the book or it might not come out at all. Please preorder our book, even though you don't exactly know what you're ordering.
Yeah, and then they cancel it because of bad preorders. What a system.

Isn't DC usually consistent in labeling oversized HCs as Deluxe Editions? Have they released an O/S book in the last 10 years that wasn't called a deluxe edition, aside from omnibi?

And years ago, you had "Omnibus" in the title, and some were standard size hardcovers and some were oversized/deluxe. Hell, there are some trade paperbacks labelled "deluxe" too!
It is annoying for sure

All of the Batamn Noir, Unwrapped and 'DC Universe by ...' (until apparantly this Mignola one) are all oversized. Also the 'DC Art of ...' books.

Granted, the Noir, Unwrapped and Art books don't include Deluxe in the titles, but even, then there's consistency in sizes within each. Same way Absolute books don't have Deluxe in their names, but we know what size they will be.
As for the "DC Universe by" books, from what I can see, there's been two before now; Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman. The Alan Moore book is standard trim, and the Neil Gaiman one is oversized trim. The Alan Moore book is listed as a hardcover, the Neil Gaiman one is a Deluxe Edition hardcover.
It seems to me if something is labelled as just a simple HC, that's what we're getting. If it's going to be a larger format, then DC will list it as Deluxe, or Noir, or Unwrapped, etc.

That seems to have been added by the retailer. DC solicited it as SUPERMAN/BATMAN VOL. 1 TP: http://www.newsarama.com/19804-dc-march-2014-solicitations-the-new-52-part-1.html, and that's how it's referred to in the published book's indicia as well.

Is the 10th anniversary edition of Identity Crisis standard or oversized?

^ Thanks for the info.
I've been wanting to downgrade/upgrade to deluxe editions when the opportunity presents itself. I find them more manageable to read.
Wildstorm was a dead imprint when that Omnibus was published so it went out under the Vertigo brand, same thing with the recent Ex Machina chunky trades they came out under the Vertigo brand (while the deluxe hardcovers from yearsd ago have a wildstorm logo on the spine).
The Planetary Omnibus however has a DC logo on the spine, I assume they did this because of the JLA and Batman crossovers they included at the end.
Now they've ressurected the Wildstorm universe with Warren Ellis I wonder what the Absolute Authority reprint and the WildCATS Absolute will have on the spine.
Ahh that makes perfect sense. Thanks for clearing that up. Didn't know they were doing a WildCATS Absolute!

It's a real pity that it's not the good stuff (wildcats 3.0)

Yes, that Joe Casey stuff was amazing. Better even than Moore's run. Instead D.C. offers readers the opportunity to piss away $125 on some of the worst Wildcats ever. Oh but it has Jim Lee art. Whatever.

So still no update on Absolute Transmetropolitan Volume 3?...

If this doesn't get released, I may just stop buying DC altogether, it's annoying when they stop the trades halfway through a series, but dropping a series of absolutes after I've spent over a 100 quid on the first 2 vols will be the straw that broke the camels back, I have sent emails to DC and Darick Robertson for any info, can't find a way of asking Ellis as I don't twitter or Facebook
