I understand there is some copyright on the Smiley face image, but then why not pick a different lenticular cover? Or just pay the fee to use the image.
I fully admit that this is a silly issue to be annoyed by, but it's frustrating
Yeah the smiley face is a copyrighted image in Europe but not in the US, but its a shame they cant use another cover or pay the license owner a fee to use it
-
Paying the license owner fee would clearly alter the MSRP. It's likely then that due to that alteration DC didn't like where the price point would fall and therefore opted to do what they are doing.
Just when I was getting to the point of thinking DC was finally picking up it's OHC game, they go and piss me off in a whole other way.
So, in their wisdom, they have decided to rip The Button out of the Batman and Flash deluxes v2 and put it out in it's own OHC. The OHC is going to have a cool lenticular cover, so at least that's gimmicky and fun.
No, that's only the US.
Everyone else gets an International version with no lenticular cover.
Thanks DC, so glad you think that much of your international customers.
You massive dicks.
The international version will also have a lenticular for the first printing, it's just a different cover. Details here: http://www.comicsconspiracy.biz/index.php/2017/08/pre-order-batmanflash-the-button-lenticular-hc/
Also, not sure where you saw that the Button issues are being removed from the 2nd volume of Rebirth Deluxes. Both Amazon and DC's solicits still have them as being included similar to how the Monster Men issues were left in.

both amazon and DC's own solicits tend to be wrong all the time. I think that's actually a bigger issues than the gimmick covers (though I understand the frustration)

The Amazon listings previously had those issues missing, but now they are included, which is positive.
Also, glad you provided that link. My complaint is withdrawn knowing the Int. version is also lenticular. Websites having it for sale should really note that!

Seems to be about 25-30 pages of various extras. Not sure if any of it is new or not
Looks great, thanks for that. How's the paper? Is it the nice matte paper from the old HC, or the glossy stock from the previous Deluxe (which the artist disowned)?

Matte i guess. Not the glossy they use on the newer material

If you preorder it with the Forbidden Planet, you'll get the US version... I bought the lenticular Batman and Flash floppies with them and they were the US ones with the smiley 👍

How's Green Lantern post Johns, Tomasi, and all? I see Red Lanterns and New Guardians end earlier than GL and GLC. Also that Giffen, who I like, writes a Larfleeze series. Bunn, who I don't like, on a Sinestro series. Some crossovers, like Godhead. Giffen on Threshold.

I'm confused, have you not read Larfleeze? Its excellent If you haven't. Its witty, its funny, its dark humor. It's a fun series that had me literally, laughing aloud. No connection to the other series. Sinestro is Bunns best work, IMO. Once it crosses over with Lobo, its a bit lacking, but its still okay.
Not sure what else you read GL wise. Venditti on GL wasn't awful, he just had no endgame. A lot of unresolved plots. But I enjoyed his creativity and challenging issues, which were actually pretty fresh. GLC was more lacking. I grew interested in the focus of a certain group of rookie lanterns, but it got muddled down by crossovers. I LOVED New Guardians, but many dont share that spark. It has that Star Trek Voyager vibe, and was a lot of fun I thought.
Red Lanterns, oh boy. So...Peter Milligan starts off the series in the first three volumes, and its pretty sub par. He touches on some alien occultism. which is interesting. but his Atrocious is winey and dull. The subplots are good, but never go anywhere. Eventually Soule takes over where Guy Gardner becomes a Red, and leads a space biker gang of Reds around. Pretty good, a lot of fun when they crossover with Supergirl.
I'm behind on Rebirth. so I cant say much.

Sorry, I meant after issue 20/Wrath of the First Lantern of the N52 series of each title. I stopped when Johns, Tomasi, Bedrard, and Milligan and the rest left and the new teams joined. That's what I'm asking about.
Basically I'm asking how the cosmic/GL titles were after they left. It gets kind of confusing to keep track, with Lost Army and Godhead and all, and I wanted to know what was good to read and what wasn't

Hmm... It was...interesting. I'd give the first few issues of Sinestro a chance, I'd give them all a chance. Make it to the Lights Out crossover, and that should help gage your interest.

I have heard nothing good about Milligan's Red Lantern run which is surprising since he's a decent writer. How much of his stuff do you need to know to read Soule's run?

None. They made Soule's run a clean jumping point.
