LOL, no I knew that run was going to suck.

Can't wait for the Green Arrow deluxe in January
I read Lemire's run recently and loved it but it definitely isn't the same character I read in Grell or Smith's run, those two seem like the same person in different parts of his life (ignoring the whole dead thing ha ha). New 52 is like somebody else just with the same abilities and a similar background.
What's the availability of trades like for Winnick's run?
It took forever to find a copy of Striaght Shooter (which for some bizarre reason in trade is put between Smith and Meltzer when it actually came out after meltzer *shrug*), the rest are easy enough to come by cheaply on eBay.

Kreisburgs written GA twice now and its been utterly dire both times.
Anyone who enjoyed Lemires run I'd encourage to pick up the current issues by Ben Percy. It's pretty decent and feels a continuation of the GA that Lemire was writing, rather than the bizarre 180 that Kreisburg pulled.

Why DC doesn't make a deluxe edition for Shade by Milligan? They don't even finished the tpb collection...

Haven't read any solo ga books. What made lemires so better/popular than whats been made before? And is it a good starting point for someone who skipped the new52 shitstorm before it?

Yes, it's a great starting point. Lemire's run is great because his story expands the GA mythos, has amazing villains, a captivating and exciting plot and one of the most brilliant artists Dc has given work the past 5 years. It's a true shame he couldn't be on the book longer.

Um, he knows how to actually write a compelling story?
In all seriousness, it's a classic case of turning chicken **** into chicken soup. He took the turd of a character the New 52 turned Ollie into, got rid of everything - literally blew it up - and started him over in the first issue he did.
Now, I don't necessarily like how he changed the mythos, but the damage was done by Lee and Didio a long time ago and it was good story telling.

Are you by chance reading his Hawkeye? I'm curious how that's going.

I liked the new background story purely because it already wasn't the GA I knew from the stuff I'd read before. It would of been out of place if the new version was the same as the proper Oliver but the run gave us an alternative version that isn't as interesting as a character but has a great story to fight through and a history to live with.
Lemire and Sorrentino's issues are great to read and look at but I really did miss the real Oliver's view of life. (I also liked the Arrow show a lot less once I'd read some of Grell's stuff but then found myself appreciating that they haven't used the name to separate itself.)

It's good, it switches between present day and when Clint was a kid and getting hooked up with the circus. I used to think archery was lame...

It's pretty good so far but still hasn't really taken off yet. The humor was better in Fraction's run but Lemire handles the drama better. Plus I love the art.

Thanks for the info. As a massive fan of Fraction's run, I've been curious about what Lemire has done with the title, but not so curious I wanted to buy it monthly :) Will have to pick up some TPBs or an eventual OHC. To bring this back somewhat on-topic for the DC thread, I'm much more a fan of DC to the point that I will follow certain characters to see what's going on, whereas with Marvel I tend to stick to runs by writers I like or that I've heard are excellent and more self-contained (like Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, or Milligan's X-Statix as far as X-books go, or Fraction's Hawkeye.)
I don't think I'd ever read a Green Arrow book prior to watching Arrow, but I picked up both Year One and Longbow Hunters and really dug them. Ended up getting the other available Grell TPBs and then the rest of the run in floppies and binding them. Pics here if anyone's interested. That said, I still treat Ollie more like I do Marvel characters - if there's a run or story by a writer I like (like Lemire) or a particularly well-regarded and fairly self-contained run (like Grell's) I'll check them out. Really looking forward to the Deluxe edition of Lemire's run.

I'm so excited. It'll be my first time reading Outsider War.
