I just finished the Swamp Thing by Snyder deluxe, and thought that it was solid. I have heard nothing but praise for the Soule run, and am wondering about the likelihood of it recieving a deluxe given that he left for Marvel?
I have this run in single issue, but will still pick it up in support of more JSA releases.
I wonder why they didn't also include the 8 issue mini that preceded this series...?
Ditto... have it in singles, but definitely going to pick it up to encourage more JSA TPBs.
As for why not the 1991 8-issue mini, I don't know that I blame them here. For one, that'd make it 18 issues, pretty thick for a TPB. Also, the mini had a different artist, was set in the 1950s, and only featured part of the team... it's not like it directly led into the ongoing or anything. (Though certainly I would like to see it get its own TPB.)
What I'm more curious about is whether they'll include the two JLE issues that featured the JSA, parts of which were, from what I've read, supposed to be issues 11 and 12 of JSA before it was cancelled. I'm not holding my breath, but that'd be a nice bonus.
EDIT: Never mind, I misremembered: apparently they appear in 4 parts of a 6-part story. Can't imagine that'll be included.
I'd argue 18 issues is great for a paperback collection. Thinking along the lines of Marvel's complete collections that usually have between 15 and 20 issues in them. I find them to be a great mix of price and page count at that size too.
My Superman: Secret Identity Deluxe just arrived. I've only done a quick flick-through so I don't accidentally see a spoiler-y panel, but so far it looks puuurty.

I don't know what the odds are of a Soule SW Deluxe, but I don't think him moving to Marvel would majorly affect the chances. After all, we got a Jeff Lemire/Andrea Sorrentino Green Arrow Deluxe after both took on Marvel work.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He continued a somewhat spiral of madness under O'Neil and DD and Heather - as I recall - were engaged. Keep in mind, though, that they were sort of an off-again-on-again item for awhile.
O'Neil' run is actually really cool. I'd love for Marvel to collect in one big OHC.
Another cool part about it - to me anyway - is that for awhile it truly "ends" Miller's run and puts a cap on Bullseye. (The storyline I refer to runs from # 195 - 200.) In addition, it also serves as a nice prelude into Miller's second run. The Kingpin certainly has a reason to be pissed at DD.
So O'Neil isn't collected yet? (Probably because I'd put him more into the DC corner?) I hope those Marvel Epic trades will get around to resolve that for me.
The Adams/Batman omni got pushed back a little on Amazon.com. Where did everybody end up falling on that one? I've never read the material, but I'm desperate to considering how iconic the era is for Bats, and dat art... But are the stories all chopped up/missing issues? And if so, BADLY, or just missing some filler/connective tissue?
So many recolored issues...I won't even consider buying that trash. DC won't give an unrecolored alternative.
Didio himself just told me that Adams' studio did the recoloring, as if I should just accept it then, but no sir. I won't accept that garish nightmare.

So, my thoughts have been covered but we don't have a "Like" button on this board so this train of thought is repeated for repetitions sake.

But how is his writing? Good storys? I never owned the originals so the art probably wouldn't bother me.

Ah, "Red Winter" - JLE #45-50!
I know a lot of people like to rag on Gerard Jones' JL run, but this arc was awesome. I'd buy a collection of it in a heartbeat! :)
What do you guys think about the Batman: Harley and Ivy Deluxe that was just released this week?

Yeah, Synder's SW was solid. In fact, I didn't think anyone could really follow it, seeing how DC isn't exactly packed with a plethora of great writers nowadays, but Soule - who was a relative newcomer - did just that. I really hope they collect it. Like someone else said, because of his success at Marvel, it really would be worth cashing in on.

This really would be one of the few tpb runs I would probably pick up. It's been years and years since I read this, so I'd love to check it out again.
Highly enjoyed Manapul/Buccellato's run on Detective Comics: Icarus and Anarky are damn fine HCs! Will put them next to my Gotham Central stuff as they are similar in spirit. Their take on Harvey Bullock rocks

Sure, good enough stories as long as you like Bronze Age stories. No Alan Moore level writing here, more straightforward simple fare. The art might bother you whether you read the originals or not....it's weird computer graphiced art, just silly looking (on top of being wrong).

I LOVE Manapul's art. Are these two volumes enjoyable without reading the previous 5? Because I have absolutely zero desire reading those.
