The've should've put all of Grant Morrison's Batman chronologically in omnibus form, not just the Batman and Robin stuff. If I remember correctly the third Batman and Robin OHC should be read together with the Return of Bruce Wayne OHC.
Its odd. You're supposed to have finished Return before finishing Vol 3, but you can't start it until after the beginning of vol 3.
I'm sure it'll be out by the time the JL film is out.
Wouldn't it make more sense to finally collect his JLA run in an omnibus? Granted I wouldn't complain if they finally released his Batman that way.
Time and the Batman is the only book that isn't oversized, if I'm remembering correctly.
Thanks for the help! Off into Batman and Son I dive then.
Annoying that the amazon listing for the Batman & Robin omni might be just a ghost, but I'll keep my preferred order in in hope if not expectation...

IIRC the 2nd (New 52) Batman Incorporated series is also not available in oversized hc. Same for Final Crisis for those who consider that to be an integral part of the run. Both are available in Absolute format though.

btw I would absolutely consider FC part of the run, the last 2 issues in the RIP deluxe doesn't make any sense without knowing about FC and should be read inbetween issues of the event (I think the absolute and the newest trade even have those) and I also can't really imagine reading The return of BW and getting much out of it without FC. That story is basically an aftermath to the event.

That's true. Its Morrison, it can't be too far from being released in an Omni form with that name.

Yes both of you are correct in my opinion. As much as I'm not a fan of the FC overall (it has some brilliant moments, tho), it definitely helps to read.
Hi all, looking for some quick advice.
I've decided to read the Morrison Batman run for the first time, so am trawling through eBay etc for the relevant titles, most of which seem now oop.
I've seen the very helpful reading order lists. But I'm really only interested in picking up the run in hardcover, and ideally in deluxe/oversized trim.
There seem to be a number of editions out there. Are all the hardcovers oversize? If not is there a way to navigate the different editions to come out with a full set of oversized books for the whole run? All advice appreciated!
PS - I've seen the solicit for the Morrison Batman & Robin omnibus and that's on pre-order, so that part is sorted.
A few years back, I did the same thing you're doing. Here are the hardcovers I bought:
Black Glove Deluxe (OHC)
R.I.P. Deluxe (OHC)
Time and the Batman (standard trim)
Return of Bruce Wayne Deluxe (OHC)
Batman & Robin: Batman Reborn Deluxe (OHC)
Batman & Robin: Batman vs. Robin Deluxe (OHC)
Batman & Robin: Batman & Robin Must Die Deluxe (OHC)
Batman Incorporated Deluxe (OHC)
Batman Incorporated Demon Star (standard)
Batman Incorporated Gotham's Most Wanted (standard)
Final Crisis (standard)
as others mentioned, there are some options for Absolute Editions as well, but I don't have any of those

Massively helpful thank you. No doubt the inevitable omni will be announced just as I've tracked these all down!

IMHO deluxes are better for readability although they don't really look uniform on the shelf, except the 3 Batman and Robins. If money is not a concern I would recommend the absolutes of Final Crisis and INC. FC has extra story pages that are not in the standard hc and the 2 Batman issues are included in reading order ( I think, I'm too lazy to get up and check my copy :P ). The new ed tpb has those as well. INC originally had issues not drawn by Burnham (the second half) and he redrew those for the absolute.

The Batman Incorporated Absolute has corrected art and extra story pages not in other versions.
Best:
Batman and Son OHC
Batman RIP OHC
Absolute Batman and Robin
Return of Bruce Wayne OHC
Time and the Batman standard size HC (booooooooooooo!!!!)
Absolute Batman Incorporated
Final Crisis (Absolute or new printing TPB)
EDIT: I don't know how I totally missed what Balakin said, but yes, that!

Wouldn't you recommend The Black Glove Deluxe as opposed to Batman and Son? IIRC Black Glove Deluxe contains both the Batman and Son and Black Glove issues by Morrison. If you go straight from Batman and Son to RIP you skip over one of Morrison's story arcs--I think.

I'm sure The Black Glove deluxe is what Flicker Fade is referring to; there's no deluxe volume titled Batman and Son. But, confusingly, when they printed a trade paperback of The Black Glove OHC they renamed it Batman & Son (New Edition).

A Morrison BM omni would solve a lot of the confusion for sure. Have you ever bound a Morrison Batman omni for anyone? Just curious if it can fit into a single volume.
