I want to buy some Green Arrow stuff. I've got Longbow Hunters and the other paperbacks from Grell so far and I'll be getting the Lemire deluxe in January. Any recommendations that are available now except for the Smith Absolute? Cheers
Green Arrow Year One is probably the best contained GA story you can get after the tpb's you've read. Green Arrow had a lot of good (not great) runs after Smith so you can also dig into that. Not much comes close to the Grell stuff though.

If you like Archer's Quest, I'd recommend the Judd Winick run right after it. Apparently a lot of people don't like it, but I thought it was a fun book.
And I definitely second Year One. It's my favorite GA story, though I haven't read anything by Grell yet.

Green Arrow is by far my favourite superhero and I really enjoyed Judd Winicks run, some of the one/two-shot issues are a little rough (this is mostly due to filler art thats below par) but overall its a solid run with some great charecter development. Judd really gets the emotional side of Olli and it results in some great moments. I'm crossing my fingers that the Smith Absolute and the Meltzer Deluxe ends up with a Winick Omni, especially as there are some gaps in the paperbacks, incluidng a 6 part crossover with Green Lantern, thats never been collected.
Heres the little corner of my collection that I dedicate to Olli.

There's also the absolute Green Lantern/Green Arrow coming out!

Cheers guys. I've read the Smith run and the arc following it. I thought the one after was a lot better even though Smith's was very good. I'm gonna go back round and buy them for myself later. For now I want some more stuff I haven't read. What are the Into The Woods and Salvation trades? Are those Justice League books GA centred or that's just where you've put them?

Those books collect the post-Brightest Day GA series by JT Krul.
It started off decent enough, but was ultimately a let down. Unless you're really into Arthurian legend...

Cry For Justice and Rise and Fall are there because they are pretty pivotal moments in GAs personal story. They deal with why GA is where he is during the Brightest Day arcs Into the Woods and Salvation.

After the Green Arrow series under Winnick ended - right before his horrible GA/BC series - I don't think there was a decent GA story until Lemire took over the series under the New 52, and I don't even consider that the real GA.

Finally ordered long hallowen since ist had it in stock again after months hoping they would get it again
Anyways curious if it has the little ribbon book marker thing I know there are a few absolutes that don't. And is it acutally attached to the book?
And how is dark victory is the story worthy of picking it upon absolute as well?

Absolutely yes.

Yeah it has the bookmark. Dark victory is every bit as good as long halloween imo, and haunted knight was good as well.

I read Lemire's run recently and loved it but it definitely isn't the same character I read in Grell or Smith's run, those two seem like the same person in different parts of his life (ignoring the whole dead thing ha ha). New 52 is like somebody else just with the same abilities and a similar background.
What's the availability of trades like for Winnick's run?

Yeah. The New 52 as a whole takes a dump on character consistency in the name of "relatabillity", and it really hurts the quality of the line.
I'm pretty sure most of the Winnick trades are OoP. Im goign to custom bind the issues at some point.

I think I lost brain cells reading the first six issues of the New 52 GA. Seriously, that was one of the worst comics I've ever read.
I went back for Lemire when he took over - despite it not being the real Ollie I figured it would be a good read - and left the second he left.

Your're lucky. You didn't read the Andrew "IM THE BESTEST WRITER EVER SO I CAN DUMP ON CONTINUITY FOR THE SAKE OF MY PET CHARACTERS" Kreisburg run. Where the Cheetah (Who soloed half the Justice League) gets taken down by one net arrow.
