I'm so hyped to see JLI on quality paper stock for the first time when the omni releases. I've only ever seen it on newsprint, even on the new-ish trades/hardcovers.
I get excited EVERYTIME I get a new version, whether Omni, (with the nice heavy, glossy or matte paper), Plus Deluxe HC's and even chunky trades when they are re-printed on glossy, slick paper.
The feel and presentation makes me want to dive into it.
I just don't like the old new print paper. I know it's all mental on my part, put if you hand me two books, and one is newsprint and one is a new version of heavy, glossy or matte paper, where the stories and images pop, I'm going to buy an update every time.

I can't stand newsprint. Dull colors, ink bleed, yellowing pages. I love quality matte, coated matte like some recent DC trades (the golden age/silver age trades, DC The New Frontier, WW by Deodato, etc), and the satin-finish DC omni pages, which are my favorite.
I really like glossy pages, too, though I think matte/coated matte/satin works much better for pre-digital-coloring stuff myself.

Yes, that's what I'm meaning, that quality. It just looks glossy and pops. I didn't describe it correctly.
Agree totally on the dullness of newsprint. Blech!
I'm starting to hit the panic buttons now. LOL
I think - if it's ever published - it will.
If transmet 3 doesn't get a release I will give up on multiple volume Absolutes, the same as I have the trades which I now only buy when the whole series is in print (SMT.....grrrrrr)

Unfortunately that's counter intuitive and doesn't help a series like SMT ever finish being collected.
I'm still pissed about it too

I hope to get the Justice League Omnibus vol.1
I collected many D C titles back in the 80's
but find it hard to read them today because of the
paper and ink used back than.
Buying the omnibus will give me a chance to enjoy
the stories on larger pages with clearer and more vivid
text and colors. :D
Changing to glossy paper through out the whole book
was the best thing the industry has done in decades.
There is no way any of my pre-1990 books could ever
stand up today if I did not properly store them,
while I still have books from over 15 years ago that just
sat on the floor and still look like they just came off
the rack of the comic shop.

I usually don't say things like that but in this case ... yeah I'm done with multiple Absolute volumes if they don't do a third.

It's certainly a Catch-22.

As I started to reorganize my shelves, I realized it's time to upgrade my old Kingdom Come TPB.
The Absolute is going for crazy money at the moment, so I thought I'd just go for the recent Deluxe edition (before it goes OOP and, like the New Frontier Deluxe, starts going for crazy money itself). I, however, stumbled upon a nice offer for the old Graphitti Designs slipcase edition signed by Waid and Ross.
Has anybody had the chance to compare the contents of that old, fancy edition to the Absolute edition? Are all of the Kingdom Come Revelations supplement extras included in the Deluxe version as well?

Newsprint feels right in some series. I dont mean the feel so much, but the look makes it look a little Stellar, to be bo honest.

So I have a Question for the experts here.
What determines if a book series gets a Deluxe Edition Hardcover? And how long do you have to wait?
What's the order of printing? Is it single issue comic, TPB, HC, then finally Deluxe?

Obviously the better selling ones are more likely to get the deluxe, however outside of that it is hard to tell. Sometimes you get books that you think should get a deluxe and they do not.

We've got a kick out of reading a couple issues of the Batman 66 series. I see its TPB AND in Hardcover.
He's likes the Big HC's (and Omni's) as much as me.
I've been tempted to order it in Hardcover and then I wonder what if it comes out in Deluxe later on?
I've never really worried about buying before as most know here I got back into collecting last May 2016. And now I'm a hardcore junky-ette!
Everything I've bought was already a Deluxe or an Omni or I've bought a bunch of TPB's with plans of binding some day eventually, before I die.
I was just wondering what translates to a Deluxe.

There is no rhyme or reason other than Johns and Morrison tend to get nicer/bigger collections than most.

This is pretty accurate. Although there are a few titles from each of them that haven't had a nice collection yet.
And I'd say Ennis and Ellis usually get nice releases, and Jim Lee and Alan Moore,

It's not bad in the Hellblazer books...it kind of matches the mood. :p I usually prefer other paper, though.
