Is there anything besides the size that makes it a worthwhile upgrade over the trade? If not I'll probably move it to the bottom of my to-buy list.
Yes, there is Grant's initial summary of story. That's the coolest part. It's like 2 or 3 pages. Nothing earth shattering like the full script included in Arkham Asylum, but if you're a big fan of Gothic like me, it's a significant extra.
I dont like that they have kept the spine exactly the same like that. I'd have preferred a Black Ring'ed hand and then a further colour on the third volume.
Same design/image, but something to identify it's volume 2 without having to actually read the spine
Yes, from a distance it'll look like we have the same book three times. Kind of what happens with the Byrne FF books when placed next to the Lee-Kirby ones.
Thanks for the pics TheTemp and Aleksivic of John's GL Vol. 2!
Mine's on preorder from amazon. Thankfully the amazon solicit was wrong as was suspected i.e. Blackest Night is in its entirety and not only up to #7.
Also, a little disappointed with that spine. At least with the Fantastic Four Omnibuses, the numbers stand out even though from a distance it may look as you have both volumes twice. With Johns GL, the Volume No. is pretty small and a few shades too pale.
I'm pretty happy GL Geoff Johns Vol 2. I think my only gripe was no GLC, which had some good stories like with Sinestro Corps War including them.
I got Legends of The Dark Knight: Norm Breyfogle Vol. 1 in the mail and it is awesome. I hope Vol 2 and 3 are a lock to happen. Any fans of Breyfogle should buy it to support his family's finances for him after his stroke.
Anyone in the UK may want to check this out: https://www.eaglemoss.com/en-gb/comic-heroes/dc-comic-books/
Another company did a similar thing with the Marvel Graphic Novel Collection and they were really well made hardcovers. Standard size, not OHC, so I doubt I'll get anything beyond the first issue (£2.99, so why not?), but thought I'd give people the heads up!

Awesome! I am picking this up next week together with Absolute Batman Incorporated :). Can you confirm the size dimensions? Is it the same size/dimension as a Tales of a batman Hardcover or the Doug Moench/Kelly Jones Hardcover?

They are the same size and the Breyfogle book is too.
Just got the Challengers of the Unknown by Kirby hardcover.
I can't say I'm impressed by the paper and binding quality.

the local WH Smith just closed down a few weeks ago, shame, otherwise don't know where to get these.
My problem with these hc-s (there is a current run of the Marvel ones and the Dredd ones of course) that they are going for these "collect all and get the big picture" spines and if you only buy a few of them they dn't look too good on the shelf.
But at least I have DD Born again in hc this way.

I'm probably going to buy it anyway as it's for a good cause but what kind of stories are they? I'm more interested in the street level, fighter/detective Batman.

Absolute Batman Incorporated is such a beautiful book. Enjoy!
Slightly off topic--but Breyfogle did this absolutely fantastic series for Malibu called Prime that I thought was fantastic, even better than his Batman stuff. It was a boy turning into a full grown man Captain Marvel riff and it was great. Marvel owns the rights---it'll never be reprinted which is a shame.

Hmm. So does Vol 1 (which I've had since release and only just started reading) end on a satisfactory note, leaving it possible to skip the other two if I feel like it? Or is there a cliffhanger/lots of big threads left dangling?
