It is in a hard cover...
I'll let myself out.

 ..........
you know....people rag on floppies, and I LOVE hardcovers because they look so nice and have a bunch of stories together in one place, but floppies will always have my heart. I just rarely keep up with them because they're so damn expensive nowadays..
The size of my current unread floppy pile is large enough to give some of the larger omnibuses a run for their money.
Nice. So how much is that 9.8 signed floppy worth? ;)
Well, by Tom Brevoort's standards/argument it's worth $25, which is the difference in pages/cost from Hickman's FF vol. 1 omnibus and vol. 2. (If you don't know what I'm talking about check out the Marvel collected edition thread.)
The size of my current unread floppy pile is large enough to give some of the larger omnibuses a run for their money.
i usually blast through monthlies the day they come out and have a huge pile of collected editions to catch up on. i think i have a pile of 10-12 floppies to get to and who knows how many collections...
To be honest, I hadn't heard that the new edition of FAMILY ALBUM had been scheduled in any format, so it may be vaporware both ways. I've asked.
It's ready to go, but apparently DC's book-release schedule is all jammed up.
In any case, I hope you enjoy whatever you get your hands on (and I'll note that, print schedule issues aside, it's all available in digital form, just in case you're someone who likes that).
kdb
Actually, I already read everything up to Volume 3-#4 digitally or in the rare Brazilian editions (Volume 1 and some of the specials), but I'm really a paper guy. And with volume 3 around, I decided it was about time to have them all nice and pretty on the shelve. (I was hoping to do that in portuguese, but there are no new editions around here, and no reprint of the classics. Ok, English it is then.)
And, again, thank you for your answers.

Book is really thick. Binding is tight but loosens a bit like the other DC omnibuses. Haven't noticed any gutter loss but haven't looked too closely yet

That is a big book. So much for all of my Johns omnibuses fitting on one expedit shelf once Vol. 2 is released.

I have the same problem. Just received around 25 floppies from the same seller from which I received 6 Omnibuses/OHCs. No idea when I'll get round to reading them.
However, I am making a conscientious effort to cut down and focus purely on Omnibuses/OHCs, with the exception of one or two.......

I have a huge pile of floppies and several huge piles of collected editions with many more on the way ;)

That's a beautiful spine. Will look awesome on the shelf. What's it like without the dustcover? Basic black like the JLA OMnibus Vol. 1?

Thanks for the pics! This ships to me next week From Amazon lol never read the material before.
Also a question about that Expedit, I'll be getting a Kallax shelf by the end of the month and I want to know what the tallest book is that can fit on these shelves? (Kallax is the new version of the Expedit, just a bit wider.) I have the Fear Agent Library Editions, and those are probably the tallest books I own, just wondering if they fit standing up?

If the Kallax have the same shelf measurements as the Expedit, then the Fear Agent Libraries will fit fine. DC Absolutes fit on my Expedit with about 1/2" left on top...the only books I have that won't fit on the Expedit are the Parker Martini Edition and the Earth X Graphitti Designs clamshell edition.

Yes, black with black stamping. Very cheap looking
Also I don't know if this has been the policy for all omnibuses, but it's really annoying that they don't even put the issue number on the covers, or even on the title page behind the cover that lists the title of the comic and creative team. I have no idea what order I'm reading this stuff in or what book I'm currently reading. No table of contents either.

Last year when I bought Death and return of Superman and the Animal Man omnibuses I thought, finally the age of the black cardboard covers is over but apparently not.

Thanks for the info. Mine should arrive later this month from amazon.com.
Oh well, pretty nice cover which hides that cheap look. Though, I did prefer the original cover pic that appeared on amazon.
Yeah, unfortunately, I think that's how DC do it. No contents and no info. on the creative team except on the back cover or on one of the first pages at the bottom. They could definitely learn from Marvel in this area.

I have to say that while I'm kind of familiar with JLA, I'm a bit ignorant on JSA, but I am a sucker for HUGE collections like this.

I wasn't crazy about the art in the first story by Robinson, but it gets better and better later. Same with the story. It's a bit of a typicall superhero action book but one of the bests from DC. I've read it 1,5 years ago in trades, and first I thought it's OK, I like the characters and the stories are good enough, but after the first 2-3 trades I just couldn't put it down.
If you liked for example: Johns' Flash you would like JSA too.
Are the American Vampire hardcovers oversized?

Nope ( it's a disappointment, I know

I've been reading it digitally. Guess I'll wait for an OHC version. Thanks for the info!
Btw, does anybody have Astro City Confessions HC? I've heard about this limited edition yesterday for the first time, and it seems one of the hardest-to-find limited OOP books ever.
It is damn near impossible to find Confessions HC. In the previous froum when asked if the book would be re-printed similar to how Life In The Big City was last year, Mr. Busiek said it would eventually. Waiting might be our only hope
I think this is one of the best looking monthly books out now.
^unfortunately lately the arcs have been interspersed with other artists and anything after Jae Lee just looks mediocre...
this week's haul (sold my amp so I went on a spree with deluxes :D)

Finally got around to picking up the Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow Deluxe Edition. Nice to have it in oversized format finally but am a little disappointed the forward didn't have the pictures my TPB does. I'm also uncertain how I feel about the difference in paper as I'm just used to the glossy paper from my tpb. Snagged it for $10.89 on Amazon with Prime shipping.
Anyone have pics of Absolute Superman / Batman 2? I have the first one, so I'll probably end up snagging the second for completion's sake, but I'm still curious about pics. Thanks.

last Friday a parcel containing Absolute Batman/superman vol 2 was waiting for me when I got home from work, I opened it up to find a book of sewing patterns!!! I hope to receive a replacement by the middle of next week, so I'll post some pictures if somebody else has not already done so.

I can post some tomorrow evening after work. Just arrived along with the JSA omnibus

Haha, while I'm sure that was frustrating, it's pretty funny. Best of luck with your replacement package.
I've been watching Doom Patrol on amazon for a while and it's hovered at $135 which isn't much of a discount. It's now at $97.28 which is 35% off. Not as good as those who can use IST and CGN will get it for but for us international folk it's starting to look a lot more attractive.
Just noticed yesterday that the Return of Bruce Wayne deluxe edition, which is listed as OOP on the first page of this thread (btw. thanks for the work NZ_InFerno) is available at bookdepository:
http://www.bookdepository.com/Batman-Return-Bruce-Wayne-Grant-Morrison/9781401229689
also: Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus v1 and v2
Maybe it's just some temporal thing, Batman vs the Black glove deluxe was also available for a a day or two 2 months ago but not since then.
