Identity Crisis was awesome, I've yet to read the deluxe sitting on my shelf yet, but I remember being damn well hooked when it was coming out in singles.
Is that the 10th Anniversary hardcover? Is it oversized?

just noticed that, had a wee laugh. And agreed about the smiling, even Hex. I wish he would do a NF sequel or something. Although he is probably happy with his Parker work for now and maybe DC is not the company anymore for the kind of book NF was.

Yeah, I like his parker stuff but I wish it didn't take up so much of his time. I'd love another substantial DC project from him.

Does anyone know about the printing error in The Flash omnibus vol 3 by Geoff Johns? I've got vol 1 and 2, but I never got around to getting vol 3. I figured I might as well get it before the price goes up any further, but I don't want it if it has a printing error.

it was called back from shops so there shouldn't be any of them out. I have a copy with the error but I got a full refund because of it so I'm fine with that :D

Thanks, it looks like DC is going to release new editions next year, but they're going to be paperback. It's probably best to get the hardcover ones.

Yes to both.
Identity Crisis is a special sort of awful that makes us not want to read comics, and im kind of embarased as a fan by it. but there is no reason my dc has to be your dc, as long as they are putting out both styles of books.
Man Identity Crisis was one of the biggest turds Ive ever had the misfortune of reading. What's sad is it did have potential. Its not just that the mystery was piss poor in resolution, it was mature in a way a 12 yr old thinks he's mature. Any writer who thinks that the whole plot device with dr light was needed to have a "hardcore" storyline has a clearly juvenile sense of maturity. Many new 52 books have taken similar paths unfortunately.

I'm not sure what printing it is, but I just got it a month or so ago, and here's how it looks:

That must be the second print. It is much better than mine I might have to upgrade. And thanks for the pictures.
But i hope to try and get some of you to understand that it is not hyperbole to say that to many of us, Identity Crisis is a special sort of awful that makes us not want to read comics, and im kind of embarased as a fan by it.
That's perfectly fine. It's all a matter of taste. There are plenty of comics I think suck. The great thing about comics is if you don't like an author's take, you can ignore it for the most part because someone else will come along and do an arc you're gonna love. My personal tastes lie in the idea that nothing is sacred. I like having my preconciveved notions challenged. That's why when I see comics on film, I want to see different things instead of a straight literal adaptation from page to screen. Surprise me.

No, definitely not. Nothing is necessary in order to make a story "hardcore." But I never saw the story as being hardcore. I'd also be careful about throwing around phrases like "juvenile sense of maturity." Cause c'mon. We're talking about comics. Most of it is juvenile. And that's a big chunk of why I love it. They allow me to be a kid still. The entire medium has a juvenile sense of maturity.

What extra stuff is in the Crisis on Infinite Earths Absolute versus the new Hardcover?

The vitriolic language used by critics of Identity Crisis shows that their only real points of criticism are that they don't want their superhero comics to be dark/grwon up/mirroring reality or/and that this is not "their" Batman/Elongated Man etc. - whatever that means. Everything else they mention is just there to try to justify their dislike. Kind of reminds me of the people who call Man of Steel a bad film because it's not "their" Superman (as if the Reeve/Donner interpretation was the first and only one).
And the funny thing is, that you don't find this kind of exuberant language on side of those who like IC. I've yet to read someone prasing it for being the greatest superhero book of all time. Everyone here who likes it only says it's "great" or "loved it" without venturing into the territory of hyperbole.

I don't agree with the last statement. I think comics as a medium has risen above the juvenility and it has given rise to many works that I would consider on the same level as classic literature. Of course Dc and Marvel still have that juvenile sense of maturity sometimes but works like Hawkworld, Longbow Hunters, Batman Year One and a lot of other works can not rightly be called juvenile imo.
