I do know a Youtube series that touched on Simon Bolivar.

Extra History is a great channel - they have stuff on Catherine the Great, Otto von Bismarck, and more. It started as a video game channel that expanded when one of the games they were looking at had a pile of extra ad money left over and just handed it to them and said "Do something on Roman History" - and the Punic Wars shorts were made.
A few more flops like Gods of Egypt, a few more hits like Road Trip, eventually money will convince Hollywood.
It reminds me a bit of early MTV. They always had a "most played videos" chart show (based purely on what producers thought people SHOULD see), and an actual record sales chart show. The former had almost exclusively white bands, like Warrent and Winger. The latter was usually 90% black artists.
I think that's more of the problem though. For every Beyonce, there were about a million other white pop singers who maybe don't make as much but can fill up the market and make a ton of money. It's the same thing with rock and roll. Music with black roots, then a thousand white bands jump on it and they all are making money hand over fists. It's an unfair standard. If your black you end up having to be really talented. If your white you just have to be competent and you'll get yours. Same thing with movies. Yeah you can look for Will Smith or the Rock, but if they aren't around here's generic no name white actor #30863 and you'll still make your money. Which is what generally happens.
In a bit of a change of pace of our usual heavy fare here in the news and politics thread, here is the curious tale of how the Netherlands and Belgium swapped some land today, resulting in the Netherlands growing 33 acres in area; and why Belgium is quite glad of it:

That was fascinating. I’ve never heard of anything like that before. Thanks for sharing.

I liked it, but they made him look like too much of a saint, after the independence Bolivar wanted to become King Bolivar and rule Great Colombia, after congress denied him that he fought tooth and nail to keep his power as president but he wasnt because everyone disliked the idea of great colombia being by a tyrant.
At the enf Bolivar died in Colombia, no even the country he was bornt without accomplishing his dream.

You don't always get those results from voting. If you got anything remotely like those results, folks might look at voting differently.
I dig it! I don't see voting as a chore, but I'm NATURALLY excited about helping my country improve its lot. Some people you need to excite them with the prospect of something better, rather one person bad, sad. People understand Trump and the GOp is bad, but when Democrats offer nothing new, but more of the same old same old, why do people get upset at people for not voting?

Why yes, yes they are. I get it that Russia is a big deal, but to the exclusion of all else? Rachel Drives me nuts with the wall to wall of old data, Hayes atleast as the where with all to do his show on Russia, but Tweet on other topics. Most Liberal online and other networks like DemocracyNOW, do Russia data, but only when it's relevant. MSNBC is NON STOP!
Find something else to talk about like maybe CLIMATE Change or Net Neutrality, or the TAX bill.

Terrible answer. Peoples Civic duty should also include 2 years military service in my opinion so they can see the real deal, and stop putting us Vets on Pedestals we don't belong on.
Some people need to feel good about Civic duties, not everyone is the same.
I thought Liberals were about personal freedom, and Conservatives the ones forcing people to do things without forethought?

Tom Green > Trump considering his 'working Nuclear button' and everything else.

If people want things to change they have to vote and keep voting instead of withholding their votes when they don't feel enthusiastic enough. Not Voting only hurts since there's no note of it to those in power, and protest votes are ridiculed by both sides even in the few cases they actually swing the outcome. However who said that the people saying "Go Vote!" want you to do so without forethought?

Whoever wins the election doesn't care about people who didn't vote. And whoever lost the election cares even less. If they run again, they care more about changing the vote of those who do vote than the double task of getting someone to vote, and then to vote for them. At least the people who voted for the other candidate are now in the habit of voting.
A generation ago, Republicans sought to protect President Richard Nixon by urging the Senate Watergate committee to look at supposed wrongdoing by Democrats in previous elections. The committee chairman, Sam Ervin, a Democrat, said that would be “as foolish as the man who went bear hunting and stopped to chase rabbits.”
Today, amid a growing criminal inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, congressional Republicans are again chasing rabbits. We know because we’re their favorite quarry.
In the year since the publication of the so-called Steele dossier — the collection of intelligence reports we commissioned about Donald Trump’s ties to Russia — the president has repeatedly attacked us on Twitter. His allies in Congress have dug through our bank records and sought to tarnish our firm to punish us for highlighting his links to Russia. Conservative news outlets and even our former employer, The Wall Street Journal, have spun a succession of mendacious conspiracy theories about our motives and backers.
We are happy to correct the record. In fact, we already have.

Republicans have refused to release full transcripts of our firm’s testimony, even as they selectively leak details to media outlets on the far right. It’s time to share what our company told investigators.
We don’t believe the Steele dossier was the trigger for the F.B.I.’s investigation into Russian meddling. As we told the Senate Judiciary Committee in August, our sources said the dossier was taken so seriously because it corroborated reports the bureau had received from other sources, including one inside the Trump camp.
The intelligence committees have known for months that credible allegations of collusion between the Trump camp and Russia were pouring in from independent sources during the campaign. Yet lawmakers in the thrall of the president continue to wage a cynical campaign to portray us as the unwitting victims of Kremlin disinformation.
