With the time trip, I find myself wanting more of the local colour. We got some of that in the '70s, not so much in the '80s. It's good that they spend more than one episode in any one era, but I want to be more immersed in the time period (which seems to be a big feature of time travel, you'd think).
The time jump to the future has great potential. It will be a challenge for the crafts on set to create the right look for this period.
Is the Hawkman actor on contract for the whole season? I think they would have to keep him around--even though Carter is "dead"--just to use him in those Ancient Egypt flashbacks. But now that we're 30 years ahead of when he left his timeline, that should mean there's a new Khufu incarnation, around thirty years old in that time period. Maybe that's how they can bring him back. Of course, then the shoe would be on the other foot. Kendra would know more about their past lives than he.
I think the problem is that "Carter" can't return until Shayera dies as well, only then will he be reborn, though given that he died outside of his own time...who knows...he could come back easily then I guess...

I'm not all the familiar with Hawkman and Hawkgirl. So when they die and are reborn, are they reborn instantly as adults? Or or they born like normal people, as infants, and have to spend 20 years growing up?

This TV version of the Hawks is a little different from what we've had in the comics. Usually Carter and Shiera are reincarnated at birth--but I don't know that they both have to die before the reincarnation kicks in again. With Kendra (pre-Flashpoint), it was a little different as Shiera's soul entered the full-grown Kendra's body after Kendra had committed suicide. Or something like that. In fact, everything was all FUBARed at that time with Carter/Katar, as well--and he was incarnated as a full grown man, too.
The TV series would be best off to avoid all that convoluted continuity that has nearly destroyed Hawkman and Hawkgirl more than once. Yet they've already succeeded in giving me a splitting headache with all this Vandal Savage junk. I like Savage generally, but there are some things about this version that don't seem well thought out. And the actor playing Vandal is not the ideal. However, in a comical way, he starts to grow on me.

Hopefully Vandal Savage is killed off for good by the end of the season and if LOT gets a second season they bring in a new threat.

So who does everybody think the new Deathstroke is? It sounds like he's doing a Manu Bennet impersonation, but Slade's apparently off-limits. Maybe he's Slade's son?
-
I hope Ray gets to use his suit next episode. What's the point of having a shrinking hero if you don't use him? Have him beef up his suit so pieces won't fall off when hit if that's what Rip is worried about.

We have gotten images from the next episode confirming he puts the suit on :).
Though I imagine they may have refrained from using The Atom suit in this episode because it's such a powerhouse and might make things for the team a little too easy, but yeah, the potential for Ray to lose another piece of his suit and disrupt the timeline is another good reason for Ray to be a little more wary to use it consistently...
I was thinking Ollie's son..but William was Caucasian, wasn't he?
Perhaps, Diggle's son? (He could have another child later on).
Thats my onlyguess too.

I just got caught up on this show and can anybody till me why Carter was killed off?

Because he can come back easy ;)

I liked Ray and Mick bonding this time out. Snart and his advice to Sara ended up working out pretty well. And Jax got some cool moments. The team actually managed to celebrate a victory for once. An important step.

Though I never thought Stein could actually effect the host Firestorm body if he made the effort to do so. I wonder if Earth-2 Stein just wasn't as strong or willful as Earth-1 Stein, which is why he wasn't able overcome Earth-2 Ronnie as Deathstorm?
I guess our Stein has more knowledge about the science behind the process and more experience being Firestorm (this was the third person he was bonded to) that he was confident enough and knew enough to fight back. Earth-2 Stein was probably confused by the whole experience and too afraid at what might happen if he fights back.
I wonder if there will ever be an in universe explanation as to why so much seems to center around Star City, which became the center of the Resistance in the post Russian victory scenario.
It seems in this universe, Star City is one of the largest and most important cities in the US.
I think Star City is important because its chronologically where the first Superhero of this universe debuted, even before The Flash showed up, back when it was Starling City and it was home to crazy Supervillains and costumed vigilante's before the Particle Accelerator was even complete.
That too.

I'm hoping he's Oliver's son! A pissed off William who never got a fair shake. I'm also hoping this new Green Arrow is Connor Hawke.

To raise the stakes, get the team to bond over a worthy goal, further Kendra's development, and shock the audience (those of us who didn't pay too close attention to the marketing anyway).

It's weird that it seems like they're going to be chasing Savage the whole season. But hopefully they don't wait till the last episode for the payoff, before moving on to going after someone else (with a new team) next season.

I keep thinking that Captain Cold and Heatwave are "cool" in this one though it's a shame to lose them as Flash villains. I suspect that, before this series is over, they won't be villains at all. But *ahem* time will tell.

I don't think you can ever really take away Captain Cold and Heatwave from The Flash, and I fully expect they'll be back once Legends is over, nor completely remove them from their status as villains. I don't think the writers would want to do away with seeing Flash continually matching wits with Captain Cold as we have seen over the course of the series, and I think they understand he works best as a villain.
And we kinda need Cold and Heatwave as villains because, without them, we're never getting the complete Rogues. I'd like to hope Legends only postponed that from happening, not outright stopped it.
If anything, I think their time with the Legends and this mission might make The Rogues' no-kill code more rigid compared to how it's been previously. Or at least Snart will better enforce it.

Which I guess means Oliver's campaign was a success ;).

I wouldn't want to see LEGENDS OF TOMORROW end after only half a season, but I think it's the kind of concept that can survive the loss of various members and switch in new members as it goes along.
Moreover, unless Wentworh Miller and Dominic Purcell have bought homes in Vancouver and plan to live out their lives here, I don't see them staying with the series for all that long. Especially Wentworth Miller, whose career is back on an upswing. They'll want to go to Hollywood again and pursue other options and they'll be in the PRISON BREAK sequel. So, I think in time they'll go back to recurring status on THE FLASH.
It surprises me that Victor Garber has signed on with the series, but at least he's Canadian and isn't so far from home.
Sara, Ray and Rip are the only three members I would like to see as permanent fixtures on the series--three favourite characters played by three favourite actors. But I want to see other DC characters join the team--if DC will let them and there aren't too many committed to the movies.
Booster Gold, Jesse Quick, the Elongated Man, Animal Man, Tomorrow Woman, Dr. Light, Black Lightning would all make good future Legends.
