/\ Gods back and is a nice little dog. M'kay. No word on addressing the last time we saw him as a screamy bratty ball of rage locked in a battle with Satan on a different planet.
The whole thing with god and the devil being the bratty twins fighting with each other was really cool. It was almost like that was the answer to the big question everyone was asking wile reading the book all along. In fact, I think it was one of the most, if not THE most important moment in the whole series. Not to mention it was just plain original.
Oh hey. What if the dog god is the same being as that flying little old lady who was made to look like god early on and though Al was alright?
I can speak for some black readers who like Al not having a burnt face as he's a huge black comic book character yet instead of seeing a strong black man under the mask, we're greeted with burnt hambuger face.
Thank you for understanding!

Thats what i was thinking in that the two seem more consistent with each other. But theres been no clarification whatsoever as to how that relates to the God seen in Hines run.
I guess Todd just prefers to stick his fingers in his ears and yell "lalalala what Armageddon? Lalala!" than to actually bother writing his way out of whatever he doesnt like.
For people who have read Resurrection;
[SPOIL] Is that Chapel shown as the killer of Al Simmons or Terry Fitzgerald?
I only ask because I always thought it was Terry that comforted Wanda at Al's funeral, not Chapel.[/SPOIL]

Pretty sure it was the former.
Dont recall Terry ever being a skull faced special ops agent. And i imagine Wanda was comforted by a lot of folk at Als funeral.
Plus it would retroactivley make all of Al and Terrys interactions post Als return as a hellspawn real awkward. ;)
Funny enough I had the exact same question. Didn't notice the skull in that panel, but it kinda threw me off a bit especially since I wouldn't think Chapel would be there or be that close to Wanda given that I think Al mentioned she didn't like him, but given the circumstances its understandable.
As for the little old lady God from way in the beginning, my understanding is that at some point Man of Miracles removed both God and Satan from power and transferred their essence to Wanda to have the twins in the hope that living as humans they'll learn better, work together, and work with man. God's throne was abdicated during Mammon's time which is why he felt its was the perfect time to attack because Heaven was weak. Seemingly during the Endgame storyline that introduced Jim Downing, God was back in power despite being banished along with Satan after the end of the Armageddon arc because of the potential Jim possessed. Jim, during his entire time, only had a sliver of the symbiote so Al kept the majority of it.
Personally I feel like the dog is God or just some being pretending to be God so as to try and get Al out of there.
I saw the skull, and even liked the new-ish design, but I was surprised to see Chapel comforting Wanda which is why I thought it might have been Terry.
It wasn't explained very well.
Also, I am glad it is Chapel as Al's killer. I really loved that connection back in the early days of Image and I have loved Chapel as a character since then. It is a pity he can't hold his own series because I would love to see more of Chapel.
I really enjoyed Resurrection. Felt fresh, awesome art, and I like how Spawn is going to kick all kinds of ass to save Wanda & his dead child's soul. Hell hath no fury like a Spawn scourned, lol.
To me, Chapel was always Al's killer. Jessica Priest was just nonsense. Glad to have Chapel back. I also like how Resurrection pretty much takes place during issue 250 as well.
Really pumped up for where things are going. It really is an exciting time to be a Spawn fan again. Plus, if you don't like the Downing era, just read up to the issue where Al blows his head off and then jump right to Resurrection and you are good. I liked the Downing era, gave us something different but it's good to have Al Simmons back with a big ass fucking sword.
When is issue 251 out?
Reality has been undone, and Spawn's job is to fix it—beginning with the repair of a historical tragedy that has been undone by cynical, self-interested forces. Spawn must journey to another time and place to battle angels and demons both, and oversee the sinking of the unsinkable ship, RMS Titanic, which now sits in dry dock in New York harbor as a floating museum!
This actually sounds like fun! 251 will be out April 15th.
Sounds different and fresh. Can't wait. I do hope this new team amps up the action scenes a bit more.
I loved Resurrection. The way they used current social issues as a framing narrative, tying it to the big spoiler? Genius. And I too was ecstatic that Chapel is back in continuity. And I'm fine with ignoring Hine's run because so much of it was terrible.
