I really hate when they show Storm’s flight as levitation. She uses her cape as a kind of parachute while using thermal updrafts to lift her into the air. Her cape should be attached to her wrists and her hair should be whipping upwards etc. her just floating there looks mad stupid.
I hate the ship of Rachel and Kitty. It feels like incest to me. I think she is basically her surrogate mother.
I feel the same way about Laura/Jubilee. Jubilee is Logan's daughter all but in blood and Laura is his biological daughter so it always felt wrong to me that people were shipping them. Plus when you add in the fact that Laura was 15-16 and Jubilee was 20, and that Laura was very vulnerable mentally and still reeling from being trafficked and retraumatised on x-force, it makes it extra icky.

Also, the fact that the main arc everyone points to is one that deals with the fact that Laura is self-destructive and probably suicidal. To the point she not only decided to see if Jubilee would drain her dry, but made no effort to even STOP her. There is SO MANY levels of sheer wrongness to the whole thing.
But hey, Takeda drew a sexy picture.

Honestly, given how well she flies indoors(where there simply isn't sufficient air volume to displace her mass), and without the cape, I have come to think she is not purely riding the wind as we have long been led to believe. I read an article about how spiders use electrical charge differentials to fly, and now believe that Storm would have to be using similar techniques of electrostatic levitation too, at least in part.
Meh. Kitty/Colossus is the problem, that age gap is beyond inappropriate and given how Kitty was 14 and had a crush on him, it makes it look like Piotr groomed her so they could start dating when she became legal. Not only are Kitty and Illyana in the same age group but they have way more history and chemistry then Kitty/Colossus ever did.
Actually, the age difference between Kitty and Ilyana is even bigger, considering when they met Illyana was a small child of maybe 4 or 5, and even read her bed stories.

Kitty is 4 years younger than Piotr. Technically Illyana was 7 years younger than Kitty, only aging up by living in Limbo for 7 years(while being trained/abused by a semi-demonic older Kitty), so the idea of them dating now is even more messed up(same as Rachel being paired with Kurt or Kitty, who were her mature family figures in her native timeline).
-
Kitty being paired with either Rasputin sibling unless they retcon Peter as being younger than he was is a no go.
Ship teasing Kitty/Rachel is also pretty weird considering the latter saw her version of the former as a mother figure, but then Claremont liked teasing or pulling the trigger on weird ass unhealty relationships (Kurt/Amanda and Scott/Maddie anyone?)

As I'm reading these recent posts: I'll add another of my Un-Con Ops.
I really think that all the "shipping" between and among the X-Men and OG New Mutants to be a little...icky. Eventhough they're not related they always felt and read like one big very close-knit family. So they all feel a little incestuous. That's one of the reasons why I'm very rarely ever interested in the X-relationships/romances. With Jott and Robit's being the two exception, until Claremont made it tedious.
-
My unopular opinion on the matter is that the Piotr and Kitty issue is blown way out of proportion. They were only together under Claremont for a little over a year in real time which amounted to about a couple of months in the book. It wasnt that long and not too significant. They've gotten back together as adults on 3 different occasions and have spent more time in an adult relationship than the very short time they were teen which many people default to defining them.
-
The age difference between Kitty and Piotr never bothered me at all (and still doesn't)...I remember being 13 and having a major crush on a 25 year-old neighbour, so...I was just never that interested in Claremont's relationship plots, generally.
I wanted Action and Adventure not Mills & Boon.

I kind of only ship Scott/Jean because they were legit a great couple up through DPS at least, and partially out of spite towards Claremont's whining about the Maddie debacle and "she only ever loved Logan, please forget what I actually wrote in the 70s" attitude. Everyone else is better off being shipped outside of the Xavier compound.
Rogue/Remy was kind of always bad, tbh...

Them being together for a little over a year when she's 14 and he's in the 19-20 range is an issue. Even if she had been in the 16-17 range it would be a little easier to swallow, but she's middle school aged. Her crushing on him is fine, the reciprocation when she's still that young is the problem. The editor (I believe it was Jim Shooter) shutting that stuff down was the right call.
Along with the emotional incest of Kurt/Amanda and Scott having a mental breakdown and rushing into a marriage with Maddie, it's a low point of his run.

Robit was okies because he wasn't an X-Man when he came on the scene long after.
Storge could have been interesting if only they hadn't ended the very night they began.

Eventually all flying just becomes the same thing. It's why Magneto can fly now even though he's literally just lifting himself up by his pants

Eww theres a Laura x Jubliee ship? They're basically sisters, that'd be too weird.

Jubilee isn't Logan's daughter. He's a father figure for her, but not an actual adoptive father.
