A bit more seriously, Prince's sax player Eric Leeds - the brother of Alan Leeds, who was the tour director of both James Brown and Prince -, was also the friend of James Brown's son Teddy. They even saw each other the day Teddy died in 1973, shortly before the recording of The Payback album... Of course in 1973 Miles used to listen to James with his band before performing on stage...
Going through some of my favourite Japanese songs, I came to realize that J-Urban also has a yesteryear now. As Badu would say, see how y'all groove to this:

A classic song, as interpreted by a younger artist. This is the girl who did 'Leave (Get Out)' and 'Too Little To Late' some 10 years ago. But that wasn't all she had up her sleeve.

I've had the pleasure of seeing her live in concert last month. Killer show. I hope she'll continue to go far.

Huuuugge fan of the The Ruler ever since I saw Superfreak back in the day on Night Flight, I couldn't of been more than 8 at the time.
Actually one of my favorite artists next to the Godfather himself. I'm still working on collecting all his old vinyl records from back in the day when I can find them.
Funk Friday, turn up.

So true, Ed!
The footage of the 1976 Houston concert is well-known for such a long time and it deserves to be seen in its entirety - the calling for the mothership still thrills me... each time... Glenn Goins so inspired... - but this extract is just so good :
