When I see a character such as Dazzler listed with a supporting role, I don't expect too much. These films can't give every character the spotlight, so if you're going in knowing there role is supporting, but somehow expect them to get the same time as the leads, then you'll always be disappointed.

Right.
The fact is that a lot of character also in comics made a little part. or starting made litte part: Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Magik, Pietro & Wanda...etc...
It's not possible to compare 50 years of monthly (and more) stories to less than 10 movies.
X-Men comic book sales are low. Dylan Dog or Tex (italian comics) sell more copies in Italy that X-Men in all USA.
So it cannot be that.
All comic sales are low. My post had nothing to do with comic sales anyways. So try again

they have weak movies
many years ago they had great sales
and yes, Deadpool was R Rated, but we all understand that means a little. (in Italy Deadpool is all ages, suitable also for children, and not was censured)
Deadpool wasn't in China (because he was R rated before new laws
DOFP, APO or Logan earned more than 100 millions each in China alone.
and even then Deadpool earned more.
that's very important

Who cares about Italy anyways? It made like 8 million there

So, who are the person that wanted, i quote you "core members/female/minority/non Xavier character's... No Magneto/Mystique.. had accurate costumes".
to be more clear: who know nothing about comics book why should care about costume, core members etc...?
I try to be clear about Deadpool: the R Rated is a joke. I spoke about the fact the Deadpool is for all ages in Italy to underline that.
The violence is only graphic, there are no complex feeling o question. Nowdays there the same violence avaible for a child.
It's a funny decent movie. But his real target isn't littler than X-Men for the R-rated.
It's a comedy.

The vast majority of X-MEN fans have never read a X-MEN comic before.
Alot of X-MEN fans have become fans from the 3 Animated Series or multiple video games
Those games & shows had millions of fans. Millions don't buy X-MEN comics.
The compliants from the general audience always say "It's not like the cartoon". They never say it's not like the comics

Let me understand.
You tell me that the problem of the (you said) low income of X-Men is the diversity not from original suorce, but from the animated serie?
So the problemfor the fans is also that FOX should not make difference from the original source, but if the difference comes from the animated serie, it's ok?
We talk about a serie 20 years old, right?
There aren't internation blue-ray.
There aren't gadget or action figures.
But a movie about that will make 900M?
No.

There's no reason why supporting characters can't make the most of their screentime though. I remember when I first started hearing things about Civil War I really thought it was a clusterfuck in the making (despite having enjoyed Winter Soldier). A Captain America movie which was really another Avengers movie, with Iron Man in a prominent role and the burden to introduce not one but two major franchise characters? Yet the Russos pulled everything off beautifully, managed to give everyone their due while also making feel very much like a Captain America movie. Even characters like the Vision, Hawkeye and Ant-Man, all hardly the focus, managed to have interesting stuff to say and do in their limited screen-time.
I compare that to the silent nodding at each other most secondary characters do in the X-Men movies and I cry a little.

X-MEN TAS came out in the 90's yes but people like myself who grew up on have children now. My son for example loves X-MEN because I did. That can be said for many others.
Younger people who grew up on Evolution have similar stories.
Because of X-MEN: TAS Cyclops, Phoenix, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee & Beast are seen as "The Real X-MEN" by alot of people. FOX never makes a X-MEN movie if not for that show. That's a fact. Fans of the THREE (Not One) Animated Series makes up a large chunk of the overall fanbase.

I disagree about a number of things you've said about Civil War, but I don't really want to get into that. Odds are we might get a cool action sequence and some dialogue form Dazzler, and that'll be enough for me. People expecting her to have a bigger role just because she's a well liked character are just going to end up disappointed. Like I said these films can't sit here and cater to every character to make their fans happy.

And they don't have an animated serie from the '90.
So stay close to the animated serie can't be the point.
And GotG is quite different from the original comics book.
Now that i think, also Tony Stark is miles away from the comics Tony.
So, as i said, the point cannot be the similar to the source.

Go on. Even Blick is charaterized better than characters in Ciwil War.
What i cannot forgive to Marvel Studios is the tv-like idea that a character to be well portrayed need only to have speaking. That's have nothing to do with cinema that is about the vision and not the words.

but I didn't say that they should be like source. they should be interesting.
they should be main heroes.
if singer would be director of batman movie... his butler would :
- be a main hero
- lose parents
- create bat-uniform
- create bat-cave
- defeat joker
- bruce would love his butler
- movie would earn 400 millions
