I think the shared universe thing is just a tool, one that can be used properly or improperly.

I don't think any of the problems the DCEU has thought have been at fault because of the shared universe though.

Being part of an extended universe just makes movies media more interesting

That's because he has too. For The Irishmen, you were never going to get that film published in theatres (beyond the time needed for an Oscar nom) because it was nearly 4 hours long.
